FISHING For The NEGLECTED Species In Day Ticket Carp Waters!
For this latest video we took the cameras down to one of our local gravel pits and a popular day ticket carp water. BUT, the intended species wasn't in-fact the carp, it was all the other species that inhabit the water!
Armed with two rods and a mixture of baits we set our traps to see if we could catch some of the less fished for, almost neglected species in the lake.

Wouldnt worry too much about the species, the Bream and Tench would be great to catch all day.

Great video and touches a chord with me. We have 2 Carp day ticket complexes locally (Wood Land and Lizard) that have a great head of silvers but hardly anyone fishes for them (Except for matches on Wood Lane). As you say, they have got fat on the feed for the Carp. If I am getting a lot of fast knocks I can't hit on 6mm pellet then I often put out a float rod with a smaller hook using either maggot, caster or Tares on the inside shelf and feed hemp with 6mm krill pellet over the top. Had some great sport on both with the Roach and Rudd, the former going up to over a pound (Although I have lost a couple bigger to hook pulls). Had one particularly memorable session on a crisp, bright day in November at Wood Lane - Bites on caster and tares were so rapid I couldn't hit them and the Perch were swarming on the maggot. I noticed an elderberry bush to one side of my swim overhanging the lake so in desperation chucked one on the hook - Cue an absolute frenzy from the Roach and over thirty pristine fish in the afternoon up to a pound and a quarter. Absolutely brilliant fun
One of the great things about carp fisheries is they are full of other species of fish, nice video I really enjoyed that 👍

@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV I've always thought the Norfolk broads and Norfolk area were ideal bream and tench venues - for any American viewers , the Norfolk broads are not dames or chicks .
Great video guys! I recently read that in the 1800's they tried to introduce tench here in the States. Very cool fish.

Good fish handling - nice to see , go back and target the tench - and you should catch the roach . Went fishing a deep lake for roach using single maggot , size 16 b/less on maggot feeder . Caught a jack pike - that's fishing LOL .
Haha, you never know what you're going to catch... I think thats one of the reasons why we all love it! :-)

Love the vids. Tench are my fav species here in Ireland. Would you believe that tench you caught was 4ozs off the Irish record which is officially 8.2lb
There have been 9s and a couple of spawn bound doubles but they just don't grow to sizes here they do in gravel pits. Really strange. A 6lber here is a specimen and a 7lber is a rare enough fish. We makeup for it though with wild lakes most of which just don't get fished

@@FromTheWatersEdgeTV I think the richness of gravel pits have something to do with it which we have nearly zero of.
Back in the 60s 70s and early 80s up anglers came over here to catch 6lb tench before they rocketed in size in the UK. Strange all the same. It's the same here with perch. 2lb is a very good perch here. 3lbers pretty rare

Hi guys nice video , just wondering why you tried pellets and boilies for catching roach, bread is a killer for roach if not the killer for roach . the other thing i would say is that Tench is the forgoten fish in my opinion roach are everywhere generally. Keep it up guys good videos otherswise .
Hi Robert, the lake is full of small Roach which we were concerned would take over if we used smaller baits (bread, maggots, casters etc) so we opted for the slightly larger baits, which all the big Roach eat. (It's a carp water, so they've grown big eating all the carp anglers baits.) Glad you enjoyed the video though. :-)
would you recommend fishing known roach waters or just chancing any carp water ?
It obviously gives you an advantage if you know Roach are in there, but it could still be worth a trip - you never know, you could be the angler who discovers them! :-)
That's not how I would approach roach, I would float closer in on an 18 with maggots however that's a cracking session.
Thanks mate, we would too - however the lake is fairly shallow close in and the specimen Roach seem to get caught at distance on the gravel!

Yes mate. It's a carp water so the Roach have got big eating the carp anglers baits - like we explained in the video. If you use lots and lots of smaller particles (maggots and casters etc) you get hammered by the little ones (6-8inches). How come?
When U catch a tench this size and U think its a bream lol. Dear me , do they feed them with prosac or something? lol

It's good to have a nice balance and a mixture of species isn't it!
So basically you were fishing for carp at distance, spodding with a carp mix, the only difference is smaller hooks and maggots. I fish a local big carp water and get some cracking roach, up to nearly 2lbs and crucians about the same weight fishing in the margins. I don't see why the obsession with fishing at range??? Close in with a float, feeding with pellets and a bit of sweet corn on the hook will get them all the time.
No, we were fishing for Roach, with Avon rods and small baitrunner reels and lighter line. We don't have an obsession with fishing at range either, we fish where we think the fish will be! :-) The margins in this particular swim were very shallow and the nice clean gravel bar we found was simply too good to ignore!
Lovely video - in the nicest way I’m glad your plans failed as that’s what happens to the rest of us as well. Those tench more than made up for it.

Also love a tench shame a lot of carp lakes seem to be removing them even though they have been in there years and make a balanced fishery
