What a rare footage of the nightjar indeed! Well done. You really need a keen eye when birding. My eyesight is gone over the years and now I'm relying on youngsters to provide the beautiful images. Keep them coming! Thanks.

Nightjars were common 20-30 years ago. Can find them on lamp posts feasting on winged ants and termites.

Wow. So nice. I am still trying very hard to spot them whenever I go out for nature walk. They were so well camouflage within the dried leaves. Thanks for sharing. 😊

Hello again. I was told Nightjars gather on the grass around the bandstand in the Botanical Gardens at sunset.

I don't think they only gathers at sunset. Their behave like owls. If you spotted them during day time, they will sleep at one location throughout. (provided nobody disturb them). As for location, I believe they can be anywhere, places where plenty of dried leaves. I have spotted them at gardens next to Symphony Lake, Eco lake and Red Brick Path. All the places has dried leaves. Just that it is be so well hiden then we cannot spot them. So it is very rewarding when we spotted them. LOL.
