Personally, I was ambivalent to the first film and hated the second one. The third is the only one I actually enjoyed. This should have been the starting point of the series. The political spy thriller aspect was fun and fit the WWII setting well. Dumbledore is a compelling lead, and his relationship with Grindelwald is integral to the events. (Mads Mikkelson should have been Grindelwald from the beginning, if they were not going to keep Colin Farrell.) While, I also enjoyed Dumbledore’s relationship with Newt, as it finally explained why Newt was involved in this storyline. Honestly, this was the first film of which Newt’s inclusion made sense and he felt like an actual character. He works better when paired up with people he has known his whole life, such as Dumbledore and his brother, Theseus. The new teacher from America, Lally Hicks, was a fantastic addition. She had wonderful chemistry with the other characters. Plus, her use of magic in battle is wildly entertaining and inventive. As for the characters from the first film. Other than Newt, it seems they were never meant to be important, in the long run. Credence was always just a plot device, to deliver exposition about Ariana Dumbledore. Queenie may have started out as a breath of fresh air, but she was revealed to be a possessive nutcase. While, her sister, Tina was just the most boring female character ever created. On top of that, the writing for both of them is antisemitic. So, it is for the best they got sidelined. Jacob, while incredibly lovable, is really just an audience surrogate and it is destroying his character. If it were not for Dan Fogler being so talented, everyone would think Jacob was the most annoying character ever. Since, his inclusion is causing the scripts to talk down to the audience, at times.
I prefer Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald and think he should have been in the role from the start, but to be fair to Johnny Depp, Grindelwald in general is just a much better written character in this movie than he was in the last two. He's actually allowed to show some emotion and be vulnerable, especially in the scenes with Dumbledore. Johnny just didn't have the opportunity to share scenes with Jude, and so his performance didn't feel as layered.
I enjoyed this more than the 2nd. Mads Mikkelsen was amazing as Grindelwald, gonna miss Johnny Depp. My issue was just that after the title showed up, the first 40 minutes was a bit unfocused so I just found myself relentlessly bored watching it, after that when the entire subplot combined, I think the movie improves significantly
I saw the movie few hours ago. It's an improvement of course but the lack of Tina Goldstein was so dissapointing. I love her in the first two and the fact that she was not in the movie until the final 10 minutes was really dissapointing
For me I enjoyed this more than the 2nd but not as much as the 1st. It bought the charm back. Better action and more focused plot. But I had issues with the pacing. The final act/Duel was underwhelming. Plus I found that the plot felt safe as they wanted to set up more things
You pretty much summed up my thoughts on this movie. I absolutely loved the first one and couldn‘t wait to see where the story was heading. The second one was confusing, convoluted and just one big mess. This third one brought back a lot of the magic from the first movie, but didn‘t have enough of a pay-off, „underwhelming“ just as you put it.
Honestly Fantastic Beasts would have worked a lot better as a documentary style film like the Walking with Dinosaurs series. Mainly focusing on Actual Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.
I despise the 2nd movie so this one was a pleasant surprise! Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen were phenomenal and I still find Eddie Redmayne so charming and likable as Newt. Really missed Tina though
I just saw the movie and I thought it was solid. I feel it is the best of the Fantastic Beasts films and I enjoyed the movie for the most part but I feel like theres something missing with these prequels. Also I kinda felt like they could of ended the series right here. Everything for the most part could of been wrapped up in this movie if they wanted to but this series has two more movies. It should be interesting to see what they do with the 4th and 5th film.
Mads was underwhelming in this for me. Don’t really understand the hype 😪. Jude law is an excellent dumbledore, he has even taken on Michael Gambons accent. Eddie redmayne was as charming as ever, also loved the addition of aberforth Dumbledore. Probably put this second out of the three so far. The first fantastic beasts is still the best imo. Having said that, they won’t be able to replicate the magic of HP in any way
@megamikethemovieman yes but only because depp was an awful choice, so was Colin Farrell and I’m Irish 😅 for some reason they are finding it very difficult to cast grindewald

Few initial thoughts after watching this movie last week from a casual HP (movies only) fan; Too many characters, too little to care about most of them or plot/ story. I was big proponent of Newt up until this movie, but do we really need Newt going forward? Do we really need 5 movies to tell this story? Was there any "secret" alluded to or implied or revealed in this movie? Can't recall anything substantial. Why is magic missing in what is supposed to be fantastical movie? "Fantastic Beast" aspect still seems ham-fisted, more so than before. All in all, only thing going on for this movie is that; It's better than the 2nd movie and maybe on par or a bit better than the 1st one, Mads Mikkelsen and Dan Fogler. My rating: 6/10
@@megamikethemovieman Can't tell if this is serious question but let me put it this way, with three movies in, highest point of FB movies haven't even reached lowest of HP movies, atleast for me.
This is not fantastic beast anymore, it’s a Dumbledore prequel history franchise and I think the writers are just trying way to hard to tie Newt, his beast, and friends in a story where he is not needed anymore. I don’t agree with why Johnny lost the role, but he was never good as Grindelwald anyway.
I thought this film was fun enough, but I agree that its weakness is in not getting me all that invested in the characters. I think that this is due to the lack of character development as well as having just too many characters splitting the screen time too many ways

I managed to watch it today. It's definitely the best in the franchise so far....but that's not saying much! However, I do have problems with the pacing and story editing; specifically how the sequence of some scenes are shown...it doesn't make sense. I liked the first one but they lost me when they brought in Grindlewald. I thought we were going to get adventures finding creatures with Newt not all of this other stuff. 🤷
I didn't think the 2nd was the worst. My main issue with these movies is the inconsistancy. Whether it be with script plot or overall actors Job acting. It just seems like they throw noodles at the wall and based on what sticks...thats what they focus on. Or put it. Or say. Or give screen time to. However the mob rule that got johnny out really did darken the franchise as well. You want to separate it but honestly maybe keeping him would have helped with my consistent issue. Eh....
How did I feel about the first two films? Well when the series was announced I will admit I was somewhat taken aback at the seeming randomness of it but was willing to give it a shot as I love anything Harry Potter. The first film was different, and I liked that, the characters introduced were interesting, there was a large focus on the Fantastic Beasts, and I thought it worked mostly well in terms of plot. The second film was for the most part the first film's evil twin. Convoluted, fantastic beasts just thrown in at random but not really helping to push the plot forward in any way, the second film was honestly a mess that didn't know what it wanted to be. I hated the "twist" at the end with Creedence, whether it is true or not, and how much in this film seems to go against previously established canon in the books and previous films. The conflict between Newt and Tina was so stupid and was only there to add further conflict. There were too many side characters introduced that in the end didn't matter, Leta Lestrange was an absolute waste of a character and Kravitz's talent to only be in one film and neither brother who loved seemed to care all that much when she *spoiler alert* dies. Overall the film was just a mess with a few cool parts and scenes but was really subpar compared to the first film. Really hoping this third film helps pick the franchise back up!!

Your beast is fantastic.😉. This movie was all over the place and had these weird moments where we were meant to feel touched and as if something poignant was happening. And I didn’t see it. Like so many of the actors….love the new Credence guy…but there is a hollowness to it all that leaves me feeling empty.
I thought it was the worst entry in the franchise. The second one to me was at least entertaining, while with this I was bored most of the time. Shame, because the very first scene was extremely promising.

This whole Saga literally lost its DNA 1h into the first movie. After that it was a total mess and IMO not even worthy to watch. Part 2 was HORRIBLE. If you'd were to cut out the whole 2h in the middle, nothing would change about the story. Characters somehow always end up in key locations without any obvious reason. Part 3 had potential, however I genuinely wonder what was going on in the writers head. There is almost nothing that would indicate that these 3 movies are from the same "saga". This 3rd part is just a really really different movie for me that just doesn't work in the overall setting that was introduced in the first movie. The main character isn't even the main character anymore. Most of his sidekicks don't even make an appearance in this movie here. I just don't get it. They'd be better off not releasing this whole mess as a franchise, but as individuals.
@@AustinBurke It’s not supposed to be the conclusion as we’re supposed to be getting two more movies but of course if this movie doesn’t make enough money then we won’t be getting the next two movies. So please do all that you can try to help this movie do well and make enough money :-)

@@connorberry6377 Thank you, much appreciated friend.
I also have a fantastic beast Boston and I appreciate your Boston cohost!!
I managed to watch it today. It's definitely the best in the franchise so far....but that's not saying much! I see a lot of people complaining that it's slow in the beginning, but I quite enjoy the slow burn. However, I do have problems with the pacing and story editing; specifically how the sequence of some scenes are shown...it doesn't make sense. So many set-ups from previous and in this movie didn't pay-off well (anti-climatic) or no pay-off at all.
What don’t you think paid off?
the franchise is coming back with more movies, honestly 3 would have been fine.
What’s your favorite out of the 3?

There's 2 more movies planned.
JK Rowling said there will be 5 films for this series in total. I wonder if they're gonna go the Star Wars route where they finished the original series, do the prequel series, then do the whole time-jump thing to the future of the original HP series.
JK Rowling said this series would end in 1945. Meaning, if it continues, the fourth would be set in 1938/9.
Spoiler Free Review - I have been a long time Harry Potter fan..💯 And as recently I have completed the book series, I fell in love with this to franchise even more, with that being said.. This 3rd installment of the Harry Potter spin off Prequel series Fantastic Beasts The Secrets Of Dumbledore was just a blast.. 💎💎It brought back the magic that made our hearts jump and it has all those nostalgia that true Potterheads recognize.. It's Truely an amazing piece of art and I definitely highly recommend all Potterheads to go to the theater and experience it there! ✅⚡
This movie deserves to hit
Every actor did an amazing job and they worked hard for this film!
Kindly respect that as well ✨
PS - Make sure to re-watch the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts 1 and 2 and learn the background of Dumbledore's story to understand this movie in a better way!

I liked the first one but they lost me when they brought in Grindlewald. I thought we were going to get adventures finding creatures with Newt not all of this other stuff. 🤷
Newt and the creatures have been the best part of the movies correct?
@@megamikethemovieman yep
@@toodlescae I reviewed the movie as well, feel free to stop by to hear my full thoughts. I appreciate it.
Your dog is so cute!!!!
Aww thanks!
This movie is a real TREAT for the real Potterheads
You need to have read the books and have deep understanding of this franchise
wait it didn't release there? its already in theatres in India and co-incidentally I caught up with the first day show! :P

Hey loving the content what’s your favorite 90’s movies
Saving Private Ryan and Goodfellas are my top two 💪🏻
Yeah both amazing films and very iconic
I haven't seen any of the Fantastic Beasts movies!
You should do a review on my Harry Squatter: Secrets of Dumbbell'dore follow along workout next! If you're brave, take the Hogwarts FLEXpress on over to my channel! 💪💪🧙♂🧙♂
Just remembered Jessica Williams, she was a, dare I say ‘Fantastic’ new addition
I personally didn't enjoy the first two movies
Pretty much every review I’ve seen say that it’s much better than the first two when does Even want some people over who didn’t even like the first two movies :-)
These films seems like a cash grab and I hate to compare these films to the far superior Potter films
I liked Fantastic Beasts but the sequels are bland.
Imo it had the same problems as crimes of grindelwald, very disappointing
Fair!
I’m skipping it because they did Johnny Depp dirty. Skipping Aquaman 2 also. Gotta vote with my wallet!
Then please remember that this movie needs to do well so as to give Johnny the chance to actually come back in the Later movies, For the actor who played MacNair The executioner was re-casted for prisoner of Azkaban and then came back for order of the Phoenix. The bottom line is that if #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore Doesn’t do well, And they don’t make the remaining two movies, then Johnny definitely will never be back as Grindelwald!Plus you also have to remember that it’s about to be a new company with new people over seeing it, So as such you were technically not paying that company and are actually giving more of a chance than not having him actually return. Especially depending on what may happen with the results of his trial that’s going to be happening shortly after the movie comes out, the new people taking over Warner Bros. right before it comes out……
Also remember in regards to her that she doesn’t necessarily get a whole lot of money from this, as well the fact remains that as many people have pointed out that she already has so much money that not supporting the series will not really change any kind of “power“ that you may have against her, and after all the series should not suffer at all because of her for Regardless of what you may think, nothing I repeat nothing will ever ever truly take away what a series overall truly means to you let alone other people, And again it’s not The series that’s the problem at all in any kind of way :-)
@@SuperMoviemaster21 I don’t want him to come back. He’ll be fine without it. Ezra Miller is problematic too. JK Rowling is problematic too. I’m done with this IP.
@@HoopleHeadUSA Speaking of both of your points,Also keep in mind like most people are not actually acknowledging that even though it’s not the best example they have at least one transgender person or someone who identifies themselves as “They” in the cast so much for her transphobia……
@@HoopleHeadUSA And you’re kind of contradicting yourself by saying they did Johnny dirty which clearly means you actually do want him to come back. Why give up an entire IEP over something like this when it’s still could even have potential to be better?
@@SuperMoviemaster21 What do you mean new company and new people over seeing this movie? Is JK no longer doing the Fantastic Beasts films? Honestly I feel they could of ended the series here if they wanted to
This whole Saga literally lost its DNA 1h into the first movie.
Utter Rubbish! was so disappointed A B..quite liked the first 2..this was nonsense. ☹️
Don’t quite think it was nonsense, but it definitely wasn’t that rousing conclusion I wanted. Disappointing for sure!
@@AustinBurke It’s not supposed to be the conclusion as we’re supposed to be getting two more movies but of course if this movie doesn’t make enough money then we won’t be getting the next two movies. So please do all that you can try to help this movie do well and make enough money :-)
This is a 6/10 and my least favourite movie of the year so far. Law and Mikkelsen were great but I was just bored through most of it
Hey 6/10 still not awful!
