Did anyone else pickup on the fact she is advocating for AI to report and record everyone's work habits at all times on a factory line. I've worked on factory lines with supervisors that do that and nothing else. It is a horrible experience.

So if workers ignore basic hygiene procedures they should advocate for less supervision? But when customers sue the companies if they get ill, then that's the companies business. I get that it's a "horrible experience", but look at it this way, you're best to be scuffed at and maybe lose a percentage of a wage one time than lets say have your job be rendered obsolete, because if the business doesn't make ends meet they will either leave or train robots to do your job, and that's far too early in out world development to happen.

There will never be equality until all humanity is dead. That is the conclusion that AI will draw and it will make it so.
WE can make it so. Just stop fucking, use your hands instead. Problem solved a hundred years down the line. Its so easy. Then the Dogs and Elephants can push on with climate change.
Instead of A.I and programming the brain and all of that all of that totalitarian jazz. Why can’t we just have some human decency.

AI is just the ultimate tool. I think that if AI was not developed by individuals with profit margins, it would not be as feared, as common people do not have any control of how it works. She is just telling how it would police, not how it can inspire, create a population that has an average Iq of 150. And AI is already used widely....google translate. I use it all the time. You are right this may be a commercial instead of real development.
Humanity tired human decency, but many "managers" and "bosses" never quite adapted at being decent. If you've ever worked supervised by aholes you'd know that.

Every human has the equal choice to succeed or not. If you feel like you are not equal, you must identify what is the barrier to success and overcome it and learn from it. Stand in your own piece of sunshine and be grateful for that which you have. No AI needed. This life is school for humanity. When you marry the machine, you give up that which makes you human, and become ungodly. No more choices will be available... you will be an infant who's mother makes all decisions. You will have no ability to grow or become autonomous.

It is because the hardship that she gone through that makes her who she is now and now she is asking us to stay back and relax and the next thing we know is that we humans would lack the need and urge to learn and strive and slowly let the AI conquer the world......

Moneyless society or RBE System (Resource based economy) is an easy way out to eradicate poverty by declaring the world esources as common heritage of humanity ... Just imagine the jobs and resources are shared to everyone by mapping the world resources, human skills, and the continous technology advancements.. How to do it ? simple - make all humans as common heritage of the world. No one will be left out right. Any better solution ? I dont think it exists.

Equal to what? First of all, we are NOT all equal. STOP with your equality crap! If we were all equal, then we would all be doing the same things with no progression to difference. That's what makes life beautiful is difference. Or would you rather be a lemming and be the same as everyone else. I love inequality so that we have a diverse world to learn from. What needs to change is the abuse of inequality so that no one person or group thinks they are more worthy or better then anyone else. Nobody knows whats best for anybody but themselves. We are grown mature adults who can speak for ourselves no matter what race, greed, or color. I embrace my unequality with others because I'm not an equal to the next person. If you really THINK about equality, its just as bad as obama saying, " we want change". But to change what?

This is a really chaotic speech in which she mixes a lot of things (some of which is not AI...) just to make her point. Please Ted give us some real interesting and constructive content on AI, not just casual and simplicistic approach to the subject
people in power with money to invest in AI are rarely going to try to solve humanity's problems. more often than not, AI will be used to reduce human work and to exploit the 99% further.
Hey TED try to vet ideas, this was a marketing pitch which started off as a rosy AI NGO helping migrants and end-ed up becoming a money-making tool for employers to constantly monitor employees at lower skilled jobs - reporting them at negligible costs - all in the guise of helping low skilled employees get jobs that are soon going to be replaced by Machines. I am sure this is the story this lady tells herself to have a good night sleep... Otherwise it would be impossible to sleep at night!
So people felt pity with her "story" and gave her everything. I wish my manager felt pity for me, maybe I wouldn't be on minimum wage, working hard and in my native country lol controversy

Yes, this young women was used to showcase Robots, not AI. Maybe in her next (TED?) debut she will upgrade to higher level skills for AI. This was a sneak performance.

thats a both saddening and uplifting tale... ai is potentially very dangerous though... a good example of ai is deepmind... trained to play against its self many different versions... then put up against a professional player in starcraft... crushed him 4/5 i think... could you imagine if that a.i. was trained to operate a weapon system sure itd get the job done... but it wouldnt add emotion or feelings before making its decision... its the same with code though one digit out of place and it goes haywire... those "a.i." mentioned i could only guess flag colours and patterns then inform management of the arising issue... theres a japanese person who developed their own translator device(uses google translator) that could be developed further... that alone would be sufficient for the needs of people who dont speak in the native tung of what ever country they are in... sigh i watched this clip twice... this would benifit companies first and fore most over people in general a company will never tell u its hire fire rate... but would always be happy to have fresh meat... if a company has people involved whom cant communicate it would be the companies job to bridge that gap... i dont see how it would be pleasant on some poor bugger to be put in a sitation where u wake up you go to work you dont say a word... you get scolded when u bugger up because the resources are poor quality and then repeat for the rest of your life...

You are right. We had something similar when in the 60s Germany brought guest workers from Turkey to work in German factories. They did only the simplest jobs at the lowest wages. Even after 20 years, they hardly spoke the German language. They were busy with work all day and had no time to learn. Their children now realize what was done to their parents. They are not happy with it. The same will happen with AI.
On the other hand as you can see my English is not so good. I used a KI translator to help me. (Deepl.com). That is a good way to use KI.
Barriers are there for a reason.
