      Whatever else can be said about this show, the first few episodes of season 3 are probably the quickest and most thorough course correction I've ever seen from a show/franchise that went _that bad._
      It's a really impressive turnaround - the show never fully loses some flaws, but most of the worst parts of the last two seasons are efficiently resolved in quick succession.

    The best season has finally arrived! Zaheer ha I love Zaheer. He and Iroh are my two favorite characters in the whole Avatar universe. Zaheer is patient, objective, unemotional (except when losing P'Li), intelligent, efficient, dangerous, and nuanced. Everything about him as a character is so thoughtfully executed, including who voiced him, that he was an immediate favorite of mine when I first watched the series

    • @Talisguy
      @Talisguy 4 месяца назад +25

      I agree with most of it, and he is a great character, but I strongly disagree that he's objective. He clearly has a firmly held moral viewpoint that all information is warped to fit. He's an idealist, and often quite naive about it - it's an interesting trait for a villain, since it's usually given to heroes.

      Zaheer is an idiot, his whole schtick is being Mr. “I love the Airbenders” but threatens to kill all of the New Airbenders including Tenzin’s children as leverage against Korra. About Korra not using energybending to take the guy's bending away, since she literally never uses energybending to take bending in the whole show, but just to restore it, you can always argue that she has no idea how to do it in that direction and now she can't ask Aang how to do it so she's effectively incapable of making him a non-bender for the foreseeable future, so he might as well go to the air temple to figure out what to do

    • @TimeofRagnarok
      @TimeofRagnarok 4 месяца назад +25

      There's no "conquest." The spirits live in the Spirit Wilds & leave the rest of the city alone. That particular vine is lying across the street because that's where Unavaatu put it. And if you're going to ask about the building, Korra misunderstood the effect purification would have on the vines. They weren't "attacking," they just grew in response to being reinvigorated, & this caused side effects they couldn't predict or care about because they're plants.

    My Headcannon is that everyone who became an airbender was of Airbender descent. It's basically a continuation of the Ty Lee being descended from an Air Bender, but we know from the comics that Air Benders did escape the initial attack and were baited by using Air Nomad Relics. Basically not all the Air Acolytes (those who can't bend, like Pema and others who appear in this show) were rounded up, as Bending seems genetic.

      @@maskofthedragon Yes, I did notice that only one person in a given family was chosen to receive airbending. Probably some spirit magic mumbo jumbo. Doesn't mean they're not descended from the original Air Nomads, though. It could be that only one family member received it so that if that person was killed for being an airbender, they'd be the only one. The rest of their family would survive. I'm willing to bet that with the exception of orphans and Bumi (who is a direct son of a pureblooded Air Nomad and already has a surviving airbending brother with surviving airbending offspring), none of the new airbenders are firstborns.

      I think the point is that after watching scenes like the one with Korra and Asami, even if the dialogue is kinda corny, I finally understand why they’d want to hang out together and why they’re still friends. In Airbender, I think because we had more episodes to develop the relationships, Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph feel like a real family, who aren’t just hanging out because they need to to end the war, but because they enjoy each others company and are genuinely friends.

    I dont mind how korra handeld it too much, but I do think there could have been some interesting potential with her not having as much of a direct connection to any avatar spirit. With Aang, he had established rapport with Roku by the time he could just casually vall up past lives. But since Korra didn't really commune with them I think it could be interesting seeing her early attempts at it be getting advice from like half a dozen spirits, all with conflicting viewpoints. With the eventual resolution being that they all lived in different times and they all have differentpersonalities and theres no objectively correct answer to agree on, so Korra ends up making the final decision herself either way
