It's one of the best solos of all time. kind of a chilled out version of Lord-Blackmore solos from a few years after :) I never knew anyone doubted their top notch musicality. Manzarek especially is out of this world, and I think it was pointed out by members of JA. Krieger I agree is very underestimated. Jim is Jim.. I never noticed Densmore doing anything special, but I pay less attention to drums in general, and I only listen to them very ocasionally.
The first album was an impressive debut, the second a terrific progression, and WFTS is their wonderful peak IMO... then the drugs eroded their creativity from Soft Parade through Morrison Hotel, though LA Woman took advantage in the major production enhancements and includes a majority of well inspired tracks.

Although The Beatles rule at it, The Doors have some cool backmasking
