- This is the Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) "HPE550" supercharged 2010 Camaro SS. That's right, it's a blown Camaro. The first blown 2010 Chevy Camaro. And that makes it the very newest version of a true American icon. Ranks right up there with the Beach Boys, buckets of deep fried chicken and our incomprehensible Internal Revenue Code.
Be proud of it. We Americans invented the greatest car ever: The loud, tire-smoking, V8-powered, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive muscle machine. And we should celebrate the accomplishment just as John Hennessey is, by building more.

one things for sure, Mr. John Hennesey is one of the greatest tuning legends in the world. please support the guy. he's the guy who tuned up a dodge viper that defeated the veyron's lap record also putting the exige in new levels- the Hennesy Venom GT.
I remember telling this girl riding with me, at a light going against a late 90's mustang GT in my 3rd gen firebird "I don't care what happens, don't touch me, the wheel or the shifter, and don't scream in my ear. this car is going to turn sideways for the next 50ft then were gonna take off like a rocket"
your comment reminded me of that day. i got ticketed for 85 in a 25 school zone.
What a sound. Talk about deep.
u cant beat that camero sound... glad to see its back
Now featuring the return of American muscle!
2010 V6 Mustang has a cast iron 4.0L that pumps out 210 hp and 240 Ibs of torque mated to a 5 speed manual/automatic. It does 26 mpg on the highway on manual. The 2010 V6 Camaro has a 3.6 L motor that pumps out 304 hp mated to a 6 speed manual/automatic, and does 29 mpg on the highway, and on top of that, it comes standard with quite a few features, including duel exhaust tips at the same price range as the V6 base mustang.
My best friends dad bought that car. #1 car seen here they just rebuilt it, new tires and brakes and sent it to us. It's had a lot more done to it since. It's basically a hpe700
im really happy the big 3 came back with the styles and horse power of the muscle cars we love. i just wish the cars would come down on price a bit.
+1
Back in the day (1977) at Riverside raceway (before some of you were even born) I witnessed a 69 Chevy Camaro walk away from all of the other road cars which included the Porsche 911's in an "A" production race there back when the SCCA ran the road course at Riverside! That convinced me that day a properly setup American car could handle well.
550 horsepower at the rear wheels?
that is FUCKING SICK AS HELL !!!!!
this is a vette,viper,mustang,challenger killer
and screams tough attitude,i love it....
i'm lovin this camero!!! Motivation to get my next tour done with lol!!!
personal experience...its a beast...it takes a real driver to knw how the car reacts and the way to drive it.
that paint job is amazing
That looks POWERFUL!
That car looks so good, sounds like an beast too!
that car car has attitude and personality something a mass produced toyota or civic will never have.
Sounds like a dream dude.
im a ford fan but this new camaro is just amazing. chevy has stepped up their game from the previous f body camaros, this car aint nothing but a corvette with back seats. i just wish i had 35 grand to get one!
Impressive numbers!!
now what this car needs is ground effects, kooks headers and its just perfect!! :D
@rpblcan
the break pedal. the hand break goes to the back tires, how are you going to spin them?
with 500hp, you pretty much just turn off the traction control and mash the gass, they are going to spin...
this vid's going in my favorites
Depends on what you do with it and how you treat the vehicle. I've got one neighbor who owns a 1988 Ford F-150 that's never been to the shop(mostly because he does all the work on it himself), and still runs smooth. But I've got a friend that has a 2002 Chevy Silverado that has lost the ability to go in reverse, and the driver-side window won't roll down. Personally, I believe it's the owner that determines a vehicle's lifespan, not the manufacturer.
559hp at the wheels, man that car is a missile!!!
Hey I just bought myself a new 2010 Camero....Im loving the car and it fun to watch videos....who cares, all these cars are bad ass and u just have to enjoy seeing them....how could you not care for an American Classic...The "Camaro"..
This car have something that a lot of modern cars don't have: Attitude.
Two Words....Beast Mode.
@Wankachocho i dont mean the supercharger whistle, i mean for example the sound during first burnout
nice rides man...
I have an 84 T type myself , 94 supra tt, 97 eclipse gst spyder and soon to be 350z im hopin :)
Exactly, I wonder how the stock internals would hold up. The ECU might get wierded out too, since these things now a days run off a complex 2d fuel map based off absolute manifold pressure. Still, getting a smaller pulley on this thing and running 13psi is tempting.
damn that has a nice sound
HOLY SHIT! ITS SO BEAUTIFUL
Very nice roots style supercharger.
Only problem is that the shelbygt500 is still being made. HPE has officially stopped making the 550 and selling its last edition 700. They only have 10 more 700s. Rare cars indeed
..."all the fun you'll have..." ya doing what...racing on public streets and getting speedingtickets...nice Edmunds...very nice.
@waterkeeper03 thanks for the tips, i am going to try it
This couldn't eat a Supersnake. the supersnake is the fastest, most elegant mustang ever built.
good point
This looks soo awesome! I'd like to see a remake of a a Nova or Chevelle.
@miSSaelSS i never read that chevy came out with that car as a factory option,so it doesnt count.now, what year did the camaro have up to 500hp that you are talking about?
Yeah, when I was a little kid I liked fast cars. I finally grew up.
this is amazing
My buddy just showed me his today. It looked exactly like that one except his hit 586whp with the HPE550 + headers. His clutch needed replacement after a few hours. He paid close to 14k total. I'd stick to my Subaru STI anytime. I beat stock SS Camaros with ease & I only have 360whp @ 19psi of boost. Now I need a clutch too. Chevy has nice cars though.
not a big fan of the new camaros, but i do like the design of this one, the yenko paint scheme is pretty sharp
beautiful car
NOW THATS RIGHT !
Callaway has a really good package IMO it is good for 572 bhp,541 ft-lbs of torque, 0-60 in 4.1 and a 12.2 1/4 mile @ 118.5 mph, and does the lateral G test at .89. The skid pad numbers on this new Camaro are not that good considering a 4th gen could hold a full G but it's better than a stock SS and with the HP increase is better than anything coming from ford atm.
Great lookin' car!
damn now i be rollin in that
amazing!
nice made . I like this car
I want one now! 62k is freakn cheap for 600hp!
Off the chain!
Dont tell my fiance (he has a 2010 Challenger SRT8) but I would so much rather have a Camaro over that... This is a hot car.
Very nice.
still its like buying a porche.... it may be overpriced but the name hennessey is legendary
Bad on gas, understeers, overpriced? yeah, SO WHAT?! It's a car made the way WE make cars... FAST, LOUD, and VICIOUS! All hail the American muscle/pony car!
This vs the SMS 570 Challenger would be an epic battle!!!!
the blower sounds very quiet, and if there really is race fuel left in the tank the numbers are not impressive either.
but i do love that camaro!
well said!
strong....very strong...i love it
I think it supposed to be a "cookie".
It's posted about 6 or 7 posts below your post.
Rockin' in the Free World...DETROIT MUSCLE!
@Coolkid89383 The SS goes for 35-35,000 New. In some areas(SE GA where I live) there was also a 10k add on for limited available .
Search on youtube for the video :
592 rw hp 2010 Camaro SS by Hennessey Performance
we I'm 15, I wasn't about to call you a "rich boy" b/c I hate when ppl. say that. We arn't "rich" but my dad makes 110k a year so yea he did do something with his life. Lets not start a childish argument. And congrats on having such a nice car
@thekino Yeah lol there is A LOT of them around here. I love it here for that reason and many others lol.
Haters gonna hate...
I like it. Always liked Camaros. Id rather buy a souped up muscle car than a souped up economy car any day!
What Hamman is to BMW and Ferrari is what Hennessey is to Dodge and Chevy. The best part, I'm drunk as hell off Henny right now!
Camaros are a HITTTT
they always say put the shelby against the SS, but in reality, the SS has moved from frontline to midrange performance cars, and the Z models have assumed the top spots. where as the Shelby is modified through a third party, unless SVT had a hand in it. eitherway, if it has a shelby nameplate, its not inhouse. thats like saying a lingenfelter corvette is made inhouse by GM just cause its sold at dealerships, lol. and also, they complain about "Its only a 3/4th second". in racing, thats a win
damn sweet. love it
only a second! thats phenomenal on low profile street tires! Thatd belike shedding 1000lbs of weight from the factory car
yeah but people in the 1960 thought the same thing about the chevy's in those days. the 2010 camaro will be a classic one of this days. Just a thought
das my dream car right there
Wow...Now where are all those people that said Camaros suck?
That said the Camaro was crap?
YEa thats what i thought.....
CHEVY RULES!!!
i'm glad they came out with the new camaro. the old ones had some major design flaws.
Man you speakin my language PREACH!!!
We are installing a Maddogtransmission4L80E in a 2010 700HP camaro just thought you might be interested we will be posting videos.
its a beast
Perfect.
550 hp at the wheels on only 8 lbs. of boost! Damn! That motor can take more than 8 lbs. & that blower can put out more than that! I wonder what sort of numbers 10 lbs. would achieve?
yea i thought that too but then i was thinking bout all the hardware they gotta use to put the supercharger on so
I can only assume that is not the best smoke to be putting into the air... but that would be sooooo much fun lol
If someone wants a high-quality high-power car without doing the work themselves, this would be the way to go.
I'd personally get my hands dirty, but this is cool too.
cant say it much better than that
lol i know man, i know. Just hope ford makes something happen with the 5.0, and hope its not bogged down with short gear ratios all in the name of acceleration *last mustang i cared about was the 99 model....but it was slower in the 1/4mile and had a slower top end than the 99 z/28 *C&D tested them and got only 135mph for the GT and 155 for the Z/28, and the camaro was a 3rd quicker in the quarter *13.2 @ 105 for the Z/28 vs 13.6@103 for the GT....or something like that, i cant remember them*
@sudoGaron yea i use youtube on my evo 4g, so im not the best at typing on a touch screen, and spell check messes me up
i am with you 100%on that.all of those car fires and shit.
the camaro is just fucking sick
Just Raw American POWER! People want to hate it on, I don't get it Chevrolet makes some serious cars.
Must have been the kind of Camaro I heard the other day with my windows down. All I know is I wet my pants as it passed... O.o
Was this a replacement to the TT setup Hennessey was advertizing before the new camaro was released...?
@360mmspider who cares if they are the stock pipes, do you not hear it, sends shivers down your spine....
That I would like to see. Frankly don't know enough personally about the gt500 to decide if that claim is reasonable. I think 1000hp on pump isn't likely, but it's still possible to get some scary numbers if they left a lot of headroom in the stock setup.
That's dope :)
5*
@360mmspider i know they are the same motor.the exhaust is just better on the vette.
i agree with you, but there is one major thing thats wrong with what you said...muscle cars were usually family sized cars with big motors. that youre describing are pony cars, which were 2 door only *only available in two door hardtop, coupe and convertable* cars that were made to handle road courses and winding roads. They also were designed with high revving V8 engines like the DZ 302, 283, 289, Boss 302 and later to LT1 of the 70s. Cars like the Z/28, Challenger R/T and Mustang GT *cont
Racing fuel in the tank? Did the do the acceleration tests on race fuel?
@ADD8oi
Not too mention the 1/4 mile on just 6 lbs boost is faster then the Nissan GTR MPH?
Some launching work and stickier tires you have a GTR beater at 30K cheaper.
Old school rear wheeler that excels in doing one thing : going forward on a road devoid of any curves or corners. This car would be a brazen COP MAGNET where I live - bored cops everywhere looking to make money on the slightest wheel spin or exhaust note.
