Now days people memorize, memorize, memorize like robots everyday like a race, they become hifz of the Qur'an but when you asked them to explain the meaning of what they are reciting they have no clue! Authubillaah. It is more dear to me to only of memorized a few verses in English and know the true meaning and of implemented into my life than to be a Hafiz of the Qur'an reading it fluently in Arabic but not have a clue what it means in the language that I understand. May Allah protect us from this ameen
My dear brother the Noble Quran came in the Mushaf coding and its incumbent upon us to preserve this as for memorizing its not possible to memorize the Quran in english as it came in arabic.... english is a lesser language compared to the broadness of arabic especially the classical quranic arabic... it is upon us to maintain this Mushaf and even though being a hafiz is a great and lofty status one also needs to ponder and learn Tafsir ..... bit by bit and it is acheivable by the permisison of Allah the Mighty and Sublime. may Allah reward you with goodness and uprightness my dear brother
Asalamu aleikum warahmatulahi wabaraketu I am a revert of 19 years and not a native Arabic Speaker. But alhamdulillah we must realize the tricks of the shaytan of falling into following our own opinion over that which is beneficial to us from the Quran and Sunnah. Iblis used his common sense to disobey Allah. Although what you mention is beneficial in knowing the tafseer of the Quran specially to maintain upon the correct manhaj it does not take away that we should memorize the Quran because it has more obligation and benefits upon us. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection and will say, ‘O Lord, adorn him.’ So he will be given a crown of honour to wear. Then it will say, ‘O Lord, give him more.’ So he will be given a garment of honour.’ Then it will say, ‘O Lord, be pleased with him.’ So Allah will be pleased with him. Then it will be said to him, ‘Recite and advance in status, and for each verse you will gain one more hasanah (reward for good deed).” (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2915. He said, this is a sahih hasan hadith. Al-Albani said in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, 2328, this is hasan)
@@stephaniecartagena9833 the sahabah use to learn 3 ayats at a time and would not move forward untill they had understood it in terms of what Allah is commanding them in these ayats,the halal/haram, the legislations and mostly they would not move forward untill they had implemented this into their lives. Why don't we follow the salaf? The prophet sallahu alayhi wa salaam himself Aisha radiallahu anaha said that he was like a walking Qur'an because he implemented every verse in every aspect of his life and dealings. Nowdays people are going around boasting about being a Hafiz and then when you ask them what surah iklas means they have no idea, you ask them what Allah is commanding they have no idea, you ask them what is halal what is haram they don't know ? Why? Because they are reciting the Qur'an in Arabic fluently without any understanding. Allah subhaana wa taala speaks about contemplation in so many ayats of the Qur'an. He urges us to contemplate his creation, his signs, his verses ect. Allah swt also speaks about 'understanding' being a absolute blessing. {for those of understanding} 3:190. Look at the state of the ummah tons of Hafiz but they are smoking cigarettes, they are going partying, there using ribbah, they are not even following a simple sunnah such as growing the beard. Why? Because they have not used the Qur'an the way Allah commanded us to. "{ Verily this book is a book about which their is no doubt a guidance for mankind"} {[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might *reflect* upon its verses and that those of *understanding* would be reminded.}38:29.
Wa alaykum salaam wa rahmatullah wa baraakatu I'm not saying not to memorize it in Arabic, that is also an obligation, but what is more of an obligation is to understand and implement it , thats the true meaning of memorization. It is a guidance for us. Why do you think the Qur'an was send down in Arabic ? So the people could understand. So therefore if it's English we understand then it's imperative that we gain understanding for the translation so we can implement it in our lives but make a sincere effort to learn the Arabic language so we may know the true meaning although Allah says that only he knows the true meaning of the Qur'an . And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allāh. But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding. He is the One who has revealed to you the Book (the Qur'ān).{Imran/7}
Subhan Allah, according to modern teaching methods this is the way it won’t be forgotten easily.
