A buddy and I sneaked into the first World Series game there. The buddy had a motor route with the Cincinnati Post and called me that morning asking if I wanted to go to the game that afternoon. We went down to the Post and picked up about 200 papers and went down to Riverfront. Stood outside on the mezzanine selling the papers to the fans coming in. (sold one to Joe Garagiola that day.....not tip...) In those days they used to let kids sell papers in the stands on night games, but they usually didn't let them in till after the 5th inning. And we weren't kids; we were 19. But when they opened the gates and we were down to about 5-6 papers each we joined the crush at the gates. Showed the ticket taker the papers and he let us in! Soon as we got in there we dumped the papers and headed for left field. They hadn't built the luxury boxes yet; it was just an empty concrete deck. Got in there, found a couple folding chairs, and watched the whole game.

This is the best video I have ever seen! Nothing I've ever watched has brought back more great memories. I was 10 years old in 1970, and listened to every game on radio. I think McIntyre and Nuxhall were probably drunk during some of those calls, but we were too young to know. The call of the Pete Rose Homer at the 18:15 mark is something my brother and I will never forget. The two announcers would get so excited and interrupt each other on every Reds' 4 Bagger.
Since there was no internet or cell phones, we checked the newspaper box scores first thing every morning. Brought back such wonderful memories to see those. Seemingly every day, Perez' line read "4-2-2-2. Sometimes the simplest things are the best.
And we were there at Crosley for Hank Aaron's 3,000th Hit. It was great to hear the call for that magical moment, and totally forgot that Musial came out to greet him. Ironically it was a little dribbler up the middle, on a day when Hammerin' Hank pounded the ball on every other At Bat.
Thank you so much for posting this. We will watch it over and over, and will show it to our grandkids!

Thank you! In 1972 Nuxhall told Pete Rose not to feel bad about his 3000th hit because Hank Aaron's was just like it. And Perez was a monster. One of the best things in this video is when Sparky said he'd have 100 RBI at the break, Perez said that's 47 in a month - that's too much, then he winds up 5 short. In case you didn't see it, there's a sequel here: ruclips.net/video/0cWfxTG1b6k/видео.html

Dodger fane here. The Reds of the 70's had such a potent lineup. Every time they played the Reds I was expecting them to score multiple runs every inning.

I agree I went to game 3 of 1976 WS @Yankee stadium. I’m a Yankees fan but that was the greatest team I’ve ever seen...

1:46 "...and he's [a] fine handler and conditioner of pitchers."
Man, if only the GM at the time knew how prophetic that statement would be....

This is great but I can’t hear the dialogue over the music.

Sorry about that. I'd like to suggest trying again using headphones or adjusting the EQ to whatever makes speech standout on your device. The music was added to add excitement, cover up the tired original warped sounding music where I could and fill in the dead spots. I hear it fine but when I put it together, I listened to the calls clean so many times and have them practically memorized so I probably cranked it up a little more than needed. Each time I listened I probably needed the extra volume to keep me excited, but in some spots it had to be loud to cover up the existing music. Thanks though for coming at me like a human. Too many have decided I should start my morning by being called an asshole or it's equivalent. If 75% of them said it the way you did, I would have remade this thing a year ago and you wouldn't have had to watch this version.

Sorry you had trouble hearing it. You are not the first. The beginning is probably the worst part because the source audio was already very low. Give it a try around 11:10.
