- Three Dog Night in 1975 Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells had 21 top 40 hits. Here's my tribute to them - six hits compiled together - the show must go on, Shambala, Celebrate, one, Eli's Coming, Joy to The World. Three Dog Night performing together in their prime. Chuck, Danny and Cory were all great in these performances.
Three Dog Night , Grand Funk Railroad & Steppenwolf should all go into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame together.
I agree with you 💯 percent DrHogfan
Three Dog Night deserves R&R Hall
My point exactly. Chuck Negron was the epitome of a rock star, but above average at that. He was 6'5" with the athletic body of a basketball player, VERY handsome with a full head of beautiful long dark brown hair and that iconic rock star mustache, a rock star wardrobe that accented his height and muscular frame, a gorgeous voice with a four octave range, and millions of dollars. How could he NOT score?
I was just looking at his pictures from high school when he played basketball!! He was a cutie back then too!!!
And score he did...many women, and too many drugs. How we loved him. But he left 3 Dog Night and turned it into 2 Dog Night. They tried, but could not carry on without him any longer. That’s when they had to split. Cory went solo for quite some time, until Danny rejoined him. They, unfortunately, could never trust Chuck to rejoin them. I am thankful that somehow Chuck has gotten sober and has had a great career on his own. Unfortunately my angel, Cory didn’t live long enough to see it all! How ironic😰. I miss Cory soooo much! There was never a show like 3 Dog Night!♥️♥️♥️
He had that long pronounced secret weapon that worked like a reed instrument known as the "probosis" or NOSE-taker a look at that great, great profile. Cory , and Daqnny, salso were spectacular. I wishjed they would hsave mixed uip the leads more
BNecause her spernt half of his life in rtehab, which puts great stress on the straight guys.
Chuck is not 6ft 5 in. He is not that much taller than Danny and Corey
God I wish I could find Shambala, where everyone is helpful, everyone is so kind .......
The Mystical place ,that was somewhere in The Himalaya's -So they said....
But they could kill your brother .. for the flowers in his eyes .. They could kill your sister .. by the flowers in her eyes .. 😆
Same for Joy to the World .. all the poison girls .. yeahhh .. 😆
So good to see them singing live, not lip synced. Fantastic. RIP Corey.
Cory Wells was one of the best singers ever in modern music! Great voice and wide range. He was the heart of this band.
I was such a big fan in the 70's & still am! Nobody could do it like Cory Wells!
Same here they were my first concert and were fabulous 🎉🎉🎉
One of the greatest bands that came out of the 70's. TDN was the first concert that I ever went to. A good friend from high school went with me in Indianapolis, IN. We had the time of our lives. Shame on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for not adding this group. They truly suck for not doing so. I know that there just has to be thousands of us who will love these songs forever.
I LOVE these guys so much! From my junior high and high school days!
Yep😁
Ok, I loved their 1975 concert in Edmonton😢😢😢 Alberta , or was it in VANCOUVER?? I really don't remember. Someone HELP me!
Same here ! 00
Me too ! 😊
It's been close to 40 years since I went to my first Three Dog Night concert. The music is timeless and spans generations. We still love you, Chuck!
Same here😍they were fantastic 👏👏
Chuck negron, Corey Wells, and Danny had/have amazing voices. Them and Terry Kath of Chicago... All extremely soulful voices and when you look at them, its hard to imagine that Sound can come out of them like that. The magic of music
I went to see them just a couple of months before covid came in Atlantic city I knew almost nothing about them my GF got the tickets the only original member that sang was the tall gentleman with the dark mustache-sorry don't know his name- he could barely stand but he did most of the show and I was really impressed with their music he explained his bad back and also talked of the old days I really enjoyed the show and have the utmost respect for him continuing to do what he loves.

Three Dog Night did have some great songs, and was one of the best musical groups of the early 1970's, imo...
Yep they were always on the radio!! Loved wls Chicago radio station!! They were fabulous in the 70's
Cory Wells looks so on top of his game there , totally comfortable , at his peak , amazing band , you can feel the love in these songs
I love these guys. Why aren't they in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Thank you so much for posting this!
Luv 3DN!! They had 21 top 40 hits and 3 #1s and they wrote none of them. It appears they got left out:(
Me too
Three Dog Night's gonna leave their names written in gold and will live forever and ever, amen!
Gus classic rock channel How about getting TDN a star on the walk of Fame since they can't get tino the RRHOF? Let me know what you think 😊
Three Fantastic singers,Cory, Blue eyed soul singer,Chuck great high range,Danny poor Danny so underated, the glue that held it all together. This is when music was music.GREAT AMERICAN BAND!!!!!!
Me and the ole' lady saw them at the Whiskey a Go-Go on the Sunset strip in '65 this is before they even had a record contract. We were 10' from them and I can tell you they were the real deal. They covered Chest Fever better than I've ever heard it. We realized right then they would be big and they were.
Damn I miss that clothing style! TDN is so awesome! So many hits!
I can not believe they are not in the Hall Of Fame!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys have just incredible voices! All the songs are so different. They had a way of being creative every time. Each guy's voice MADE the song. What a signature of music. The harmony is enticing to say the least. I never get tired of hearing them.
They are originals in their art, and the background guitars, drums, etc, are choice in sound. Love them.
had every album and used to try to sing to them
How wonderful it is to listen 👂 to these voices again. Too cool.
still loving the group , 2022.
Out in the Country just flew into my head a few months back, and here I am. There were as good as anyone. Taking other's songs, and making them unforgettable ir more difficult that writing them. What a Band behind them. RIP Corey. You were the heart of it.
Yes, Cory you were the heart...and my heart!💝
My older brother listened to these guys. I forgot how good they are.
I forgot that to, I was only 12 when they started 😅 🙃 but remember all
just one of my fav bands of all time, fantastic vocals, harmonies, and singers in their own right!!!
AMAZING group.. Amazing music.
good stuff. great voices. great memories.
On this day in 1973 {August 25th} B. W. Stevenson performed "Shambala" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand...
Three months earlier on May 12th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #66 and spent 8 weeks on the Top 100...
Earlier in 1973 Three Dog Night released the song; their version reached #3 on the Top 100...
Sadly; BW Stevenson passed away on April 28th, 1988 at the young age of 38 during heart surgery...
R.I.P. Mr. Stevenson and Mr. Clark...
one of the greatest bands of all time
I was only 12, 13 when they started in 69 but i remember this all, i bet my daughter would recognize these guys from me, i loved Shambala, A Old Fashion Love Song , Celebrate, The Show Must Go On, ELI'S Coming, Try a little Tenderness. So my daughter at 47 would have heard them
They were fabulous together!!! That harmony something else!!! Love you guys!!! 😎🎶🎸🎤❤
They delivered . . . and so did their dealers.
Which is ? Who ?
Love and miss Corey ...great to listen to, and incredibly sexy during this era!!!!!
I'LL Say!!!
He looked sleek & stunning in his black suit, great hair styling, topped off in a kindness you could feel & that sure confidence in himself that made him such a great Stage Presence; always leaving it all on the stage.
Few men in rock had such great rhythm & abandon in dance, managing to look sexy & masculine.
And then there was his massive soulful voice. Corey Wells had some pipes.
Very respected among his peers in the business.
It still saddens me to think of him gone from this Earth.
RIP CW
Just listen to "Easy to be Hard" studio version and how he holds the last note and that will explain how great Chuck Negron is. Cory and Danny are also awesome but the tone of Chucks voice is heaven.
Bingo!
Beautiful voice😁👍
Love that song!
❤ love 3 dog night's music & stage show! . 😊 & the singers are awesome.
Great music!
😅 3 Dog Night makes all songs with their hearts & souls ♥️ !
They have my vote for the top ten , yes in music.😊
Amazing how Chuck has such a beautiful voice, yet still can sing like this😂 my favorite group, especially Chuck !!! 🎸🎤🎶❤
What a great group.. I love this stuff..
Loved seeing 3 dog in concert yrs ago
Me too😍
Wow, I think the compilation is very cool. Haven't thought about these guys in so long, but connected with an old musician friend who brought up memories. Chuck Negron's voice and rest of the band had a wonderful kismet, for the time it lasted.
Wow! Medley was great.
@3DogsLive That's why I have so much respect for Cory. He kept it clean. Very unusual for a rock musician.
very unusual for a human.
Incredibly well grounded. A credit to his upbringing.
This band did some excellent quality recordings for their time.......love them ...
Loved seeing the guys singing and playing such incredible music. The audience participation was high moments of their performances. Just thinking today they would have their smartphones up taping the show instead of being in the moment.
They look sleek w/ their fabulous shag hair styles and jean trouser legs 4" longer to cover their platform shoes, very sleek, very polished, very musical!
Three Dog night without Chuck Negron is a shadow. Negron is sober and doing well..an amazing story of redemption for a man who had fallen to the depths of despair.. 3DN at the time was terrific..even with all the drugs
They, had So Many Hits in the 70's .We lost count . What Voices , breaking thru w/ all the Top Bands and acts then ........
well is nice remember that times... thanks for share and make me remember...
Great fun music... awsome times! Young and nieve...memories!
For sure
Three dog night were my first concert that i attended and it was also there first time close enough to see them and it was an awesome concert in 1973 and outdoors on a clear night in July and i will never forget it!!Sugarloaf opened the show and as they were almost done a helicopter flew in with three dog night aboard and they hopped out and started getting ready for their show...a very fantastic night that was:-)
Love These Guys saw them in concert in my teen years .Chuck was Always my favorite. Uga Buga.✌✌😁😁
Great performances!!!
My favorite band, after the Beatles! Best singers, best show on earth! I Love you, Cory♥️♥️♥️
Always loved Chuck's stash. Only a select few can grow 'em quite like that. Sam Elliott!
wow, great harmonies
Epic
The Dogs are my favorite vocal band with awesome arrangements and backing musicians - 21 top 40 hits - dominated charts from 1968-1975. Too bad they won't get back together before they get too old. That could be amazing.
FABULOUS!!!!
There's nothing that Chuck Negron can't sing! The belt out all of these songs into the Dog Crown
I remember watching this with my mom Lol she liked alot of my music :) wasn't like sharing the rap of today with your kids
Thanks for posting this video. Great singers, great songs.
Great band. Shame Chuck is still not with them. Sure would be nice to see them all together. Awesome video.
I seen Chuck and his band last night in Arizona. played all the hits for an hour and a half and sounded clear and good. his voice was very strong but after the concert he didnt sign autographs because he had a hard time breathing after it was over but man was it a good concert :)
Down memory lane, thank you. Hope Chucks son Chuckie is out of prison by now. On intervention Chuckie was a sad case, so sad.
'Joy to the World' was the most enjoyed song by FAR!
Thanks for sharing
saw the reunion tour a few years back. it was great!
Three Great singers singing as one😁
love shambala
That's a good song
Wondeful!
... Terrific and Thanks...-:) !!!
Thank you so much for this great video! I love Thre Dog Night. I followed their music from the late '60s through all their biggest hits. They were really great singers. I had the biggest crush on Cory when I was in high school. I'm 69 now. now. Great music and memories. Joy to the world soon in January 2022.
nevermind the voices i forgot just how sexy Corey was. Rip one of the great bands of my era
C. W.B. Agreed top of his game, Cory Wells Really Hot!!! 💖
To traderfiles, who posted this video, Chuck still sings better than ever! Just saw Cory & Danny in concert a couple of weeks ago and they acted like they were in agony performing. They need to swallow their pride, not worry about control, let by-gones be by-gones and do a reunion tour. They owe that to 40 year die hard fans. Cory and Danny have a site so anyone interested in a reunion start emailing and voicing your opinions.
Awesome
I'm in the audience for this Sound Stage show. Al Ciner (guitar) and Dennis Belfield
(bass) we're in the band at this time, they had just left Rufus. Actually went to hear
them play.
Love this when I was a kid great times.
AWESOME
Holy crap!!! I had the exact same shirt at the same time as Chuck!
Saw them in Austin in the early 70s. Loved it then.
Dude, great compilation.
I Love Cory Wells!♥️♥️♥️
TY for the great memories. Our band used to use one of their songs as a cover song. Eli's Coming.
Well it would have been a cover of a cover; as this band only did covers. The original is by Laura Nyro /watch?v=EfW41eKUkKE
How can a band who at one point outsold The Beatles not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ???
I saw these guys at Western Springs Stadium, Auckland ,New Zealand in 71 along with Guess Who. it was a pity i was only 13 and didn't quite know them that well. In fact i spent most of the night trying to break into the venue through a fence. I was looking forward to seeing them in Melbourne, Australia last month but the concert was cancelled. Maybe they'll try again.
saw them last night. very good show! always enjoyed their music and the show was better than I expected?? reason is they still sound incredible for 67 yr. olds! what the tiff w/ chuck?
I have never commented about Chuck Negron's ability as a singer or performer. I have seen him perform live and he is good. No question. I am just commenting on all the silly hot air about Chuck Negron carrying the band or other nonsense. If he was the "brains" and "voice" behind the band, you would think he would have had same success as a solo artist as Peter Cetera, Michael McDonald, Steve Perry did and more. Three Dog Night is a band that was and still is about the sum of the parts.
I always thought Chuck/ was handsome and more recently I noticed how really talented and incredibly handsome Cory was always too. I was a mere teen In the 70s but they were my favorite group, and now I’m seeing things that they did in the 50s and 60s that I never knew existed. I know some things about music history but not a lot. I’m trying to learn more because so Many musicians were in so many other bands before the ones that we actually knew, it’s sometimes surprising to hear. For instance I didn’t know argent had done the same that Danny does, LIAR,But I feel having heard both versions that Danny’s is certainly much much better. Just a personal preference I know other people like the version Argent did . Three dog night had their place in the sun, and then the revival of it as well, so sad to know that Cory and Mr. Greenspan are gone and the bandit is now as far as I know the only original is Danny but I could be wrong, but the music lives on and I will love TDN forever !!!!!!!!!!!♥️♥️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😘⭐️⭐️🎶🎵🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎶
Yeah, Kattra! I was lucky enough to see them in concert 3x. My first ever album was theirs.
OMG ! Some damn God advice fellas.
Can't believe TDN are still touring. I saw them in 1971 Auckland NZ. They were supposed to tour Australia last year but didn't. I don't know the current lineup.
Silvester 1975/76 unvergesslich....
Although it is hard to imagine it, 3Dog Night was the best group I ever saw live.
I got to see Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, Led Zep and a lot more. They did not do concerts they had parties. They sang better than any recording and the band
was just unreal. On a scale of 1 to 10 this video is a 4! Sadly no recording exists
of them at their best. Their impact has been lost without a trace!
buzard
Celerbrsate they allow each singer to show case- and each is a lead vocal paradise for any group/ OOPS the DC TALK Also- the original three also almpost wasted due to sharing
I grew up when they first released the first album in Calif circa 1968. All the songs have been great. Quit the bichtin' and listen to the music; it's archive! ssdewayne
The Three Amigos from the '60s....
yup, that's Chuck with the 'stash...and he sang lead on a lot of songs...Chuck had a hard time with addiction to heroin which provided lots of problems for the band. He kicked the addiction in '91. That's nasty stuff...so glad it didn't kill him!
I can I compare their vocals to Steve Perry it's a shame if they're not in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame! If you listen to the song easy to be hard and pieces of you'll see how good they are these are beautiful songs!
Heartbreaker
Dany.Corey.ChuckTheirHarmony👍IHaveTheirGreatestHitsAlbum.
good job with the editing!
LOL! he always looked like that when he sang! Too funny!
What does Three Dog Night bring to the table?
The Table.
thumbs up if you clapped along with this whole video :)
