Having found you today, the 26th of October, seeing the discussion on russian public opposition I started to watch your production from the start. This episode definitely cemented my appreciation of your work as it so clearly illuminates/predicts the factors moving the disastrous events in Ukraine. Your penetrating and poignant observations has, and no doubt will, add significantly to my understanding of many a matter of great importance in our time. In short; good shit Vlad!

I’m catching up on some of your old videos Vlad, and your analysis of Putin is right on the money even a year later.
Unfortunately if anything, of course he’s only getting worse.
If there is any truth to rumours of illness, he could actually get even more dangerous in my (unprofessional) opinion as he will care less about collateral damage.
    Cheers from downunder 🇦🇺

What you described in the first minute is what I see in politics in North America. I see it in comments online and in direct speech, republicans seeing Democrats as enemies, not another American with a differing view, not a teammate or colleague, but a blot on society. And that I find terrifying, because I see it in Canada as well, this spreads, it's not an idea that can remain localized, not with how the world is connected.

I very much enjoyed the complexities in the series and insights and details provided regarding Putin as I am by nature a lumper and not a splitter.
Putin, for his entire life has been obsessed with engaging in every manner of fraud, misdirection and aggression whether personally, professionally or politically to destroy anything and everything that he knows might highlight his real or perceived imperfections, inadequacies or anything actually superior to what he knows himself to be.
Its pure narcissism elevated to the extremes of megalomania,. and there is no cure and no treatment that would leave all parties intact and satisfied.
Putting anything resembling a human face on him is doing the world a disservice and will only waste time.
He simply rejects any potential unflattering and unprofitable objective reality nor allow it for others lest be be revealed for the mendacious 'gavno' that he is.
I give him maximum 6 months before he nukes the planet somewhere or otherwise sets off the dead hand to do it for him.
If he cant have a world of his own and force everyone to act within it, he'll not allow any other world to exist for anyone at all.
There is no time to be erudite, he is a monster plain and simple.
Everyone potentially affected should plan accordingly.

I basically grew up under Putin-esque rule, and later married a Putin clone....without ever visiting Russia, or speaking the language.
Your succinct answers and explanations in regard to this 'type' of human are almost psychic or akin to profiling.
If I'd been given the rule book for Putinians as a child, I'd be a different person, but possibly less emotionally intelligent, so I don't complain.
Vlad, you're spot on, and over a year and a half since this interview, as Putin is looking for any excuse to assert the victimhood of Russia against the West at the expense of everyone around him, and in order to keep the Russian people drinking the Kool-Aide, your past assessments are coming to pass.
The more; -power and control, -insulation against accountability, -fear instilled in/power over followers, -removed from real life..... and the bigger the toys available... the closer the Putanian will come to implosion
But not before they destroy everything in their path.
I hope your channel takes off, the world needs this perspective on yet another basically weak human with way too much power.

This was very well done! The scenery and and soulful three strings. I have been lost since the death of idealogical tension. Remink' Lenin's Tomb I read with tears in my eyes. Russia has always been important to me. I was encouraged at first. Putin seemed a competent manager of the disgorged wealth of the state . From Bush to present , we were given truly confusing impressions of Putin. We suck at that sort of thing though . This scares me though. I am not an academic. I had no real measure. I have noted our own discourse sour into a balkan dogfight. Your insight is grim, but it is real. I needed this information. All I can do for the land of Tolstoy is to recognize those who mean her well thanks!

This has aged so well, unfortunately. Wondering if the reality of losing power was a major factor for starting the war for Putin. Distraction caused by the war and holding basically every Russian hostage would make sense in order to regain power. But this move is very risky and catastrophic.

WAR, in this case, the WAR waged by Russia against Ukraine, has very likely been used, as has occured before, simply to maintain power and preserve the status quo when the political and military position was diminishing in strength. I agree with the idea of the use by Putin of the "Distraction caused by the war and holding basically every Russian hostage ....." with regard to maintaining power and artificially 'hog-tying' stability.

Very interesting viewing this video for the first time, against the background of the invasion of Ukraine. Thoughts - "Putin is a tactician, not a strategist": i.e. he is an opportunist, not an ideologue. Back to my issue as to whether Putin can be called a "fascist": there is such a thing as fascist ideology, even though it is not particularly coherent or well worked-out. It seems to me that Putin has quite opportunistically exploited certain trends in Russian thought (autocracy, orthodoxy, a mystical attitude toward the state, and a collectivist notion of "the people" (there is a Russian word for this that I forget), and there are certain parallels between these Russian ideas and fascist ideology. However, this exploitation is too opportunistic to amount to any kind of ideology. Therefore, I have difficulty seeing Putin as a fascist.

I wish there were a way to turn on notifications for your videos, but it keeps telling me that's not possible for "for kids" content. While I'm sure kids would benefit from watching, I have some quiet suspicions that the primary consumer of your content is not the under-12 set.

Notifications work for my videos. But you are saying they don't work for under 18s? So when you click the bell it says it's not allowed?
I took the very conservative step to say, not for kids, on my entire RUclips channel. That just means you are a bit safer from getting a strike in case you use bad language or show war footage.
My channel is totally and utterly suitable for smart 16 years olds.

I recommand Putinomics on Audible to see Putin from the economic aspect.
If you want a deep dive into his history and the more political and personal aspects then the New Tsar is a good read.
Disclaimer :I am a Russian citizen and very pro Putin from all that i have read and watched about him.
If you want to start a disscussion or debate here are my basic questions to you:
1.What party would you support in Russia?
There are a few some with more support then others(including parties not in parliment)
2.From 0-10 How much do you know about Russian opposition parties?(Because honestly its a shit show full of egoists...Putin doesnt need to even run in elections to descredit them)
3.Things are not simple from first glance and there are many possible ways for things to change 2011 was objectivly the worst year of the 10s so can the 2021 be of the 20s...I expect the world to change rapidly in the next 5 years,I dont know how but we know why.Do you think this change will effect your country?

Hello, I'm not an expert in politics so I'm not going to answer your questions. Instead I'll ask you one.
      Why did Putin invade Ukraine?
From my point of view it was only so that he could become "dictator for life". If Putin ever resigns from office his life expectancy would be be very short. He has made too many enemies in Russia.
I only hope that the Russian people are safe and well fed, we need world peace and not more wars.

How is Putin's health? He seems quite puffy-faced of late. Has he gained weight or has he acquired an inflammatory illness? Of what did his parents die?

    • @VladVexler
      @VladVexler  2 года назад +5

Hello Gayle. Putin's parents died in relative old age and I don't know their medical history. Putin may well have had botox. There is a man called Valery Solovey who regularly inserts rumours about Putin's terminal illnesses and these rumours make the pages of respectable papers in the US and UK. But they never meet a serious criteria of journalistic rigour. So, we just don't know. Putin could be dying or in perfect health.

@@VladVexler okay, if you could give a short summary I’d be curious, because as you know things will likely change in probably a week maybe less, and you know much more than I could discover in that time, b/c I’m lacking historical knowledge as well.
Personally, I am from the west and mostly look at US sources mostly, I haven’t been the Chomsky-esque dude yet where I analyze media from other countries (I don’t really know where to start, and with the abundance of propaganda especially from the west, and even the east makes me lazy for it). Also, I’m busy as hell with STEM and I also have my own readings to take care of (currently reading Don Quixote w my gf, ancient history textbook, and listening to the Plato dialogues), so it’s hard to find media sources that I believe report what’s going on close to the truth, with the limited time I have to learn.
Based off your video, IVe come to the conclusion that it seems like he is posturing, and hoping for Ukraine do make a mistake so he can bring Ukraine back to Russia. But, I don’t know. A potential thing I can see Ukraine doing is disgusting their army as Russians, and murdering civilians and claim it’s them. I think it’s in Ukraine interest to go to war, but, I don’t really know like I said I’m uneducated, I’d be curious on your thoughts.

@@VladVexler thank you, I had some debates yesterday and I actually was able to use some of your analysis to improve my understanding, I need a much stronger historical understanding of things like NATO, UN, and when it’s okay and not okay to invade nations.
My thought process prior to debates, was that Putin is secretly this good guy and the real socialist. The west is just making thing difficult for him to restore the true glory of the USSR, and I used justifications on ecology (in interview and such he’s pro improving energy, but he uses manipulative rhetoric not to be) and his overall nostalgia for the period as reason why he will bring back ‘glory’ to Russia.
I’m realizing I’m wrong, and needing to learn more, I really wanted Putin to be a good guy because I hate the west, and I appreciate how cultured and intelligent he is compared to Western leaders. But; it sucks that he hasn’t done the best things so far, despite me truly thinking he wants good for atleast Russia, maybe not the world though..

@@pablobear4241 The difficulty with the regime is not just corruption and suppression but also detachment from reality and a vindictiveness toward opponents that sometimes goes beyond what even Franco or post Stalin Soviet leaders would do. I also hosted a q&A on the crisis - the audio from which I will share soon on a secondary RUclips channel.

Imagine this: I used to be that guy that said, Putin is a gangster but he keeps Russia together and the NATO provokes him unnecessarily etc... So I used to say he is a good thing for Russia and the world.
With him starting a useless and inhuman WAR against his brothers and neighbors I changed my opinion. And I hope everyone gets that Putin is not only a gangster, he is also the worst thing since Stalin. He had so much time to make Russia "great again" after the end of the Sovjet era. But instead he has done exactly nothing. Which can be seen in the Russian military now. Starting a war with sovjet equipment, corrupt and incapable generals and poorly trained soldiers just shows you the stupidity and incompetence of Putin's regime. Maybe you should educate yourself. First, he is Russian originally, his family left just around or after the fall of the USSR....went to Israel and then he moved to England and is now an English citizen. So he knows Russia and saw Putin rise. Do you know? Well, read or look at some videos that are historical. KGB did not want Putin....had to comply due to his friends.....and Yeltsine put him in power but then regretted it. Am 61 and saw all this happen....being Franco American and for 17 years was a national conference guide....so can tell you....many of us saw exactly what was happening. Also, by the way.... everyone has the right to his beliefs....and opinions. Unfortunately he is right on most of what he says.
