I'm 57y/o New Yorker, that's to say I've lived alil.So the first time on MTV That I heard & seen DepecheMode I know I was onto something incredible! And the craziness, I'm still hooked.🎉
Completely True 👌🏻 I'm one of Yours! Hahaha... And I still can't believe the way they keep on catching youngsters, boys & Girls of The age of My Children! Btw, I'm rewriting the comment cause I made a mistake! I said my oldest child Who was 8 years old, No Way! She's 38 & my son's 27 years old... What I really wanted to say was my Grandaughter's 8 years old & she loves♥️ DEPECHE MODE... Hahaha!
One of the very best and most important bands of all time. Why? Because they took massive risks which paid off and they managed to break electronic music into America. Their musicianship and moulding of different genres deserves so much credit. Wish I could’ve seen them at the Rosebowl, what a gig that must have been...
I grew up with DJs I remember my sister's boyfriend playing Lime, Abc, Human League, Blondie, Then he played Depeche Mode I fell in love with thier sounds music and lyrics, I remember other sister singing " Somebody" People are people master and servant, The 80s I grew up to thier music, 1990 I remember buying Violator after school my sophomore year made copies on blank tapes to record. I gave one to one of my crushes, lol 1993 I tried to pursue this girl I played the whole album of SOFAD, on the phone talking to her, she didn't like the music at the time, years later we ran into each other she's a Depeche mode shirt. Hahaha
ULTRA! Is Absolutely GREAT! 👌🏻❣️❤️ But then again it's only my opinion, I've read quite a few times that people appear to believe Ultra's the second part of VIOLATOR! Actually I've always thought & had the same Feeling! I don't really know, cause I Saw Mart in an Interview where they asked him if It was or not? He answered It wasn't at All!!! Well, obviously SOFAD was in between Both VIOLATOR & ULTRA! So I suppose we'll never know the exact Truth, what do you Really think about All these thoughts & probably made Up stories???
Apparently the "rights" were not the reason as the original songs do appear later in the document. These "sound-alike" themes (according to credits produced by Jonathan Miller & Chris Ingham) are, in my opinion, a nice way how to glue the interviews and set an interesting undertone to the whole document.
All these guys owe a hell of a lot to people like Wendy Carlos, Vangelis, Jean Michelle Jarre and, to name but a few more: Annette Peacock, Bebe Barron, Clara Rockmore, Daphne Oram, Delia Derbyshire, Gudrun Gut, Laurie Anderson, Laurie Spiegel, Pauline Oliveros...the list goes one. These were the real pioneers. All the innovators like Depeche and OMD etc. etc. did was popularise the sound and bring it to the masses. Which is awesome of course - no complaints here! - but I do wish these documentaries would do their research a bit more thoroughly.
6:25 - Wrong use of "modular." For the most part, the BIG synths were the modulars and the small synths designed for travel were not. In this context, the word "modular" does not mean "portable." It actually refers to separate modules that can be combined to make a synthesizer. Like the giant modular Moogs that were unfit for touring (though at least one prog madman still tried it).
+Roxann ValdesRasmussen ...It looks like its from that trilogy of films that were all visual with little to no dialog , I think one of the films started with a K ... I will follow-up if I remember and maybe this will trigger someones memory...
+Roxann ValdesRasmussen .... I am almost 100% sure it's from a film by Godfrey Reggio called Koyaanisqatsi .... it's the first of a trilogy of very similar films, the other 2 are called Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi ... search youtube and/or check with your local library as they might have the DVD to checkout. :)
They aren't remixes. Whoever made the video didn't want to pay to use actual DM stuff so they got someone to program things kind of like known DM songs. If you listen none of these "remixes" have the actual melodies and whatnot from the actual songs.
Oh my, those DM soundalike tunes in the background are horrible! Considering the people they got into taking part it's crazy they couldn't go all the way and get the proper music. Sigh...
+SOPADELICIOSA They didn't get people to take part, this "documentary" is other people's copywritten work that's been cobbled together. Same with the Pantera "documentary" on this same channel.
This was a UNAUTHORISED doc..and they did a damn good job reguardless and without paying royaltys..this doc is better than the ones the official band is putting out...spirits...really?
I was looking for this documentary for a long time. The only one that tells the truth. When Alan Wilder left DM was doomed. Now they have a band of losers playing the keyboards and drums, their music sounds like crap. They would have never make it with the sort of music they are doing now.
+vjrei wow. don't sit on the fence. although i believe their golden period ended after wilder left i don't think their relative decline was specifically down to his departure. Of course he was important to the sound but he didn't write the music. I still anticipate a new DM album even if they sometimes sound like their treading water.

Whats so cool about Depeche is they still draw young people and they keep their older

And now we all are 8 years older 😀

@@wawawswfc4957really? When? How?
Nice to see the heavy hitters of synth in this documentary.😊
To this day, the reason you and i and anyone else goes to see them live is to hear them play music from these 4 albums.
+ ultra
construction time and some great reward aswell
...ditto...just can't get enough of their music...still.
This band had it...looked good while creating great music

I think Some Great Reward (previous album to 1986's black celebration) and Ultra (post 1993's sofad) are great too.
Ultra is so underrated

I could have sworn I've seen this documentary, maybe a small part somewhere. Sad that the other parts aren't here on this channel.
where is part 2?
Anyone knows what song that starts at 2:30?? Sounds a bit like Enjoy The Silence. Is it a mix or something. Sounds cool.
Enjoy de Silence

Fun fun fun in the Autobhan

101 concert was the Peak of this band, went downwards from then on. Violator is enjoyable though
Amen. 22 and proud devotee :D

Depeche Mode truly are gods of electric
Walking In My Shoes whot remix???
You could say since Wilder got sacked , Depeche Mode became a duo
He quit. There is a big difference.
Awh❤️😀🌙
THANKS FOR UPLOAD! :D
🖤
With success comes weakness
Why is the video thumbnail a picture of Tangerine Dream?
why is youtube such a bad platform. When you look at a video 1 of 9 and the second video is nowhere to be found..............!
Does anyone know what music is it from 0:00 till 2:28 ? It sounds to me like an expanded version of Walking in my shoes.
More like a cover version.
Have you found out what remix is that from 0:00-2:28?
All the music are reworked "soundalikes" so they didn't want to have to pay royalties for the bed music..
Gary Numan ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Por favor subtitularlo en español castellano gracias

What video are they playing to Autobahn at 8:35 ? I don't think it's the official Autobahn video but it's really really cool. Can anyone help me out?

Sydney Arizona Thank you so much! Kudos.
Where is part 2???
No part 2?
subtitulos a español :( plis
With Wilder on the band they would have changed music history, but Dave's ego got in the way
Where is the rest of it???

Funny, I think some of it sound pretty cool.
Um this is so reductive of Dave's role. I mean THAT voice. And also the fact that he came up with the name afaik
walking in my shoes. some remix
ooops your right
How wrong the Belgian magazine Humo was, when they called this band "Pêche démodé".... They very often were wrong, here they were completely wrong.

Que alguien lo subtitule al español :'(

in my opinion only two songs after Alan's departure are relatively decent:Home and Wrong.
+Nadejda Portnova home is them
Not done a good album since playing the angel.....andy mccluskey says it as it is .....no omd no depeche mode ....
Totally agree DM is no more DM WITHOUT ALAN , the best songs were made with him, because of him .
