Hey there, just want to thank you for your video it helped out alot!!! I replace the faucet in my RV kitchen and the old fittings just snapped. I saw you video and went straight to home depot and within 5 minutes it was fixed. Thanks again bud!!!✌✌✌
Thanks! Big help on RV sink where pex tube connection is leaking antifreeze after -12F. Pex is a joke because expansion tools are so expensive for DIY. I'll have to wait until May to repair. Cheers!
Pex can be frustrating, but it’s good material. The right tool for the job may cost $ but it’ll be well spent after you see your handy work successfully completed! Good luck! Thanks for the comment!
That is not PEX, it is PB (polybutylene) pipe, used in the 80's and 90's as a cheap piping option. However they were discontinued because of being prone to leaking and a source of many law suits for flood damage. Replace with real pex piping if you want a leak free fresh water system.
No it’s not pex, but pex push type fittings will work on it. PB was found to go brittle with exposure to common chemicals. I imagine the basic chlorine in your city’s drinking water supply was enough to cause failures over years of use. PEX is superior, no argument here.
I live in a trailer and the hose that attaches to the back of my bath tub faucet is leaking and has caused significant water damage. I purchased some seals today and I'm praying that's all I need. AMEN!
+Julie Prentice, if your faucet is new it must be in the hose connections. Those shark bites work great, thats what fixed mine. Keep at it and you'll get it. Thanks for watching!
+Paul Clemmensen thanks for the question, but I'm not sure without looking at it/measuring it. See if the pipe has any writing or size on it. Somewhere along the pipe it should say the size.
Are you sure the original pipe is not Polybutylene? Most older trailers, like mine, have this and it is a nightmare. I live in cold country so every Summer I begin repairs to my plumbing. At this point, I have decided to convert entirely to pex.
+D GKZ , I'm not entirely sure. I winterize it every year and do not use the pipes when the temp drops near freezing. This was the only problem I've had in many years I've owned it. I appreciate the comment.
+Karen Arellano Hi, I used a 1/2" by 1/2" shark bite and flex pipe. You may be able to verify your pex size by looking on the pipe itself and it should say the size. Hope this helps! I appreciate the view and comment!
sradjoe yes, thank you! It was our first time on our new but old 1981 foretravel and we couldn't run our water bc of the same leak break as you. Your video was just perfect to help me fix it up!Thank you so much 😊
Very informative! Can you tell me what the name of the 1/2 Inch by 1/2 inch part (with the insert) is called? I tried to freeze frame the package picture on the video but it was unclear. Also, did you get it at a big box stores like Home Depot? I think this will solve our leak problem. Thanks!
I think what your referring to is called a shark bite. I picked it up at Menards, but most hardware stores that sell pex pipe should have connections and you should be able to find what you need.
Thanks, actually my hubby was able to review the video once again and got the info off the package. He installed it yesterday following your instructions, and no more leaks! We liked your method since we didn't need any special tools which other methods would have caused us to buy. With the money we saved, we were able to buy a new faucet!
Thanks, for showing How to do this repair. I had the same problem did not know what to do. Thanks again.
Glad to hear it helped, thanks
Ty

+Barbara Williams hope that fixes it for you!
Yeah, I replaced whole faucet, still leaked, hot water line also, same spot as you have shown. Back to hardware store tomorrow.

Where do you get the adapters? Home depot pr an rv store?
Big box stores like Home Depot, Menards and Lowe’s will have what you need.
My rv is made my Winnebago and it has white pipping. Is it 1/2 in?

What size is the Pex ? I have the same problem, same leaking spot and I may have bought the wrong size shark bite

Oops, didn't realize I was logged in under my husband's account. He's not married to himself, btw. lol
May I ask the name of the fitting and where your husband found it?
