- Whilst getting the caravan ready for our first trip out we discovered a leaking tap.
Initially it looked like a straight forward job, thanks to great advice from Campbells caravans in Blackburn. However, things did not go to plan. I eventually found a way forward and have now hopefully fixed the problem.

Thanks for the update. You proved that with a little perseverance you have resolved a really tricky situation. Credit to you and thanks for sharing, 👍🏻 Trev
Thanks Trev, I was nearly selling the caravan at one point!
I got same setup I believe we changed the shower head for a on off leaver shower head and now taps leaking from inside case area I'm guessing the pipes on back of tap won't hold the water pressure so will now put the open shower head back on
Just added you. Chris in the lunar quasar. Would be interested in how you put an Ariel point on the outside of your van
Thanks for the Sub Chris, just call over I will show you how it’s done. Cheers 👍
Hi great video, just a comment for longevity of any seals think about applying a very thin layer of grease to stop them perishing as fast and help them seal better :-)
Top tip, I usually put some silicone spray on the seals to help. Thanks
That looks like the same fittings we had on our Lunars.
I did find a van the same as mine with the same tap a few weeks later. I think Lunar must have fitted that tap to a lot of vans! 👍
Same as my 2014 Lunar. Much easier to change to alternative taps, get parts etc. Flexi pipes are exactly the same as domestic as well.
Yes much easier to go to your local plumbing shop than getting ripped off at a caravan dealers!
Great video. That's was shocking customer service. I would have done the exact same thing and took my business elsewhere.
Thanks, everyone has bad days! But customer is always king. Cheers 👍
This is the thing with a caravan of that age. You don't know if the original fittings have been changed. I hope your experience with Stewart Longton's was a one-off. A couple of other channels have worked with them so I can't see that being the norm (still no excuse for poor customer service). Some PTFE tape should make the joints water tight. The stuff works with the screw fittings on my air tools.
Hopefully the tap will be ok, I have PTFE so will keep that to hand. Stewart Longton sales team are usually good, it’s the shop that wasn’t on form.
Great video!
Could this be a cause of a small leak underneath the tap aswell? Due to the seals on the bottom?
Yes, if you take the cartridge out you should be able to check the seals.
Which plumbers merchants did you go to because we have exactly the same problem we are located in Mellor and I’m sure that you live very near to where we do
I just went to a local plumbers merchant, and plumber shop should stock them. Try B&Q, I would take the old one out to match it up. Cheers
@@TheCaravanNut Thanks so much we have got one
Great video mate..👍👍
Cheers 😊
Is this a fix for the tap leaking from the base ? I have just discovered my wash basin tap is leaking when it is turned on
I would imagine so if it’s not leaking when the tap is off, I would take the insert out and check the seals. You can get them from a decent plumb shop. Hope you get it sorted.
@@TheCaravanNut Damm..... got the new cartridge and still leaking, looks like the leak is from where the pipes connect to the tap
Think you can change the clips on the pipes, will have a look at ours this weekend and get back to you.
Hi, have you managed to sort it? I’ve had a look at mine and they pipes are bolted to the bottom of the tap, if yours is the same they will have seals on them are just might need tightening a bit.
@@TheCaravanNut No not yet I will have have another look when I have time. It is only on the hand wash basin in the toilet so can make do for now. Thanks for your help
