Benoit Blanc is life! What a fun tribute (and yet, very much its own thing) to Poirot and Christie. I am so excited for the success of these movies so far & I cannot wait for the third installment. If the high quality continues, is it too bold to say that Daniel Craig may be forever remembered as Blanc even more than Bond! How fun. I love these movies!

Hi, I wanted to give you some advice that I myself just learned -- I used to put my windshield wipers up, too; I literally just learned it can weaken/ruin the spring arms (I think that's what they are called). What I am now doing is using the black foam pipe insulation tubes. Cut them to size and put them on. They'll keep the wiper blades from sticking to the windshield but aren't lifting the wipers up too much. I tried it out in the artic dump (lol) we had over Christmas. I'm near Lake Erie, so the winds were outrageous! But my wipers were cozy and safe! ...PS I was debating whether or not to tackle the Twyford Code. That's still TBD! ...PPS You are using -- is that Kerry Gold? Best butter out there! And rather than say PPPS (or is it PPSS??), I'll just say lastly, I enjoy alone time on Christmas, too. Glad you finally got your rest!

I'm opposite you on the Inn Keeper Chronicles and Psy-changling series. 🤣 I have mixed feelings for the changing, but I love 😍 the Innkeeper. I don't have the problems with the pacing that you have though. I love Dina and Orro, like Thimble must be protected at all costs. While there are couples I like in the Psy world, there are quite a few I do not. 🤷‍♀️The Heart wants what it wants. 😉😅 The Twyford Code was giving me DaVinci Code vibes-like trying a little too hard to be "elevated and smart". So delightful to see all that beautiful ☃ snow while at the same time not having to either shovel it or drive in it. Never discount a cinnamon roll alien ala' Dixon, Phillips or Abel.

Yeah, really loving what Johnson is doing with these movie - hope we get a new one every couple years around this time. They def have that Christmas movie feel to me!
A few years ago I saw his partner, Karina Longworth, present and screen a 70s movie here in Toronto, called Last of Sheila. If you haven’t seen it I recommend tracking it down - it’s very indebted to Christie, and also a big reference point for the Knives Out movies.

As a Hoosier going through an extremely mild winter, I feel so bad for all the southern states getting hammered with winter storms. Even some of the east coast, like NY, got hit so hard it was hard to imagine. The infrastructure there just isn't built for it like it is up here. It has been intensely triggering my climate change ruminations and anxiety and I feel so bad for everybody.

The Twyford Code is my favourite book of 2022! But I think it helps if you grew up with Enid Blyton’s stories… and I don’t think she’s as popular or important to children’s literature in NA as she is in other parts of the world. Plus, treasure hunts are one of my buzzwords and I adored the ending! I also loved the Christmas Murder Game in 2021. The start is a bit tonally uneven (too sad and depressing), but all the rest really worked for me. I do think of both of them as thrillers, with a strong mystery component and not as murder mysteries, though. That might also make a difference.
On the other hand, the Knives Out movies? Very meh. We seem to be on opposite sides of the mystery/thriller spectrum lately! I also hated my ARC of The Writing Retreat and saw your goodreads rating! This makes me wonder if you might like Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson. It’s been out everywhere but the US for some time and sounds like your type of book… but then I loved it, so you might not! 😅
