Mike did a Jose mod on my 1969 built Marshall 100w super lead plexi. It’s amazing. Martin Golub was meant to do the Dookie mod on it but he died in early 2021 before he could start it. So Dave at LA Sound Design was able to get Mike to do the Jose mod for me instead.
GOD!! That amp sounds amazing! It makes my well tuned 2000 Mesa DR 3ch head sound like an amp sim. Seriously, this is THE sound that cements my theories on why amp sims will not ever sound this good. It has a very musical tone at all levels, so incredibly tight but not muddy etc., every note rings out clearly. Great work on the mod! Thanks for taking the time to mic it properly and I agree, hold on to that amp, it is a winner )
@masonicilluminatispacejewfromnibiru You have the wrong Mesa/Boogie... The Mark V is transcendent, and will knock you right back to Planet X... m.ruclips.net/video/gjkfArHfV6Q/видео.html
The Reza always plays the perfect blend of amp-demo madness!!! One of the only amp reviewers I stop and listen too every time he posts.. And God damn this head sound amazing! It does it all! #Legit!
Mike Fortin I turn the presence up at the 10min mark and its where it should have been for the whole video. Tough when your sitting right in front of those greenbacks , but the mic likes it better.
Just curious, what did you do to the amp? or if you dont want to explain all of that technical stuff just say what difference the mod made to the amp, sounds sooo good though, theres a reason your revered in the amp bizz, and that Randall KH103 is a MONSTER as are all the other Randall amps but being a big Hammet fan I hope to own 1 some day
My God! The clarity is spectacular. There's such a joy in playing an amp that can go from sparkly edge of breakup to melt your face distortion with just the volume knob & pick attack. I think I like this one more than the Friedman modded SLP, which sounded godlike.
i have had an heard so many plexis etc thru 30 years or so, love them, but ears ring constantly, now i play thru 15/7 watt hansome devil blackheart, not bad at all..plexi like with a hot rails strat etc..thanx..
Sounds great. Most high gain amps are modded Marshalls. I have one of Dave Friedman's modded MarshallPlexi's with his kitchen sink mods. It sounds great and is so loud it hurts. You can hear where the BE-100 comes from.
It's funny how your can hear the original amp in these modded Marshalls. This one still retains the crispyness that I associate with the 1959SLP. The same mod done on an early 70s amp would sound different.
DR1987IIC this is actually a good thing. it’s the sign of a good modder than leans on the strengths of the donor amp, not tries to make it something it’s not.
Dude honestly the fortin modded Marshall’s are literally the best sounding amps I have heard imo. It’s a shame he doesn’t mod amps anymore/they rarely show up on reverb
thats why you buy a Gower. check out my Gower Killer Kali video on my channel. Fortin and him used to be collaborators. Gower does the same mods, but is reachable, and inexpensive.
I still think this Fortin Knuckle mod is the best sounding amp demo you have done. If your listening Mr. Fortin, let me know when you are doing them again...
GREAT playing, and excellent sound! Would love to have a fortin mod, but unfortunately looks like hes not accepting at the moment! I may be opting for a Krusekontrol V5 mod an a JCM800 though, seems like a great option!
Dude you write just like I do...that's fucking awesome!! Amp sounds great. I have an HW. Yeah that sounds killer brother. Warren uses the BX cabs \m/ \m/ Peace
+Brian Keller That's 1 year back on guitar after 11 straight on drums, and before I figured the fretboard out. Anyway cool song man, should have just left it at that rock on \m/
Is it wrong that I prefer the sound of this amplifier but modified? I know the original sound is indisputable and is the favorite of many for several decades, but in this case I love the modified sound more
Jeff Kennington seen his stuff on FB, he tends to play 80's shred guitars and never thick and powerful thrash metal riffs on his amps. Hard to tell if they will do what I like.
no delay no chorus,no reverb,an o yeah good natural feedback..a good plexi to release anxiety..an kill your ears if not careful,no overloaded midrange..i love the powerful simplicity.........
Reza, sounds great! In your opinion what is the best cab/speaker combo for a Marshall platform amp? Dynamic yet capable of nice tight, deep palm mutes with enough mids to cut a mix? Thanks brother Ps.....i can listen to your riffs all day, and you have tasty leads, and a very creative use of effects.
@@RezaMatix I don't see it listed on his site anymore. Any idea if it just got renamed or what all the mod entailed? Was it a combination of several smaller mods? Looking at some further options for my 69 Ceriatone 100w.

Can someone answer me how to go about getting an amp modded by mike or any of the other big names for that matter? Serious question. Please and thank you!
If it is one of the "big names" like Bogner, Fortin or Friedman, you would either need to be a big name yourself or be their buddy. Unfortunately, that is just the way it is now; those guys are all too busy to mod the amps of us mere mortals. Lol
@@SluggerStark Fortin modded mine with a Jose mod last year. Martin Golub was meant to do a Dookie mod on it, but he died in Jan. 21 before he could start it. Because I organised Martin to mod it through his connections with Dave at LA Sound Design, Dave was able to get Mike to personal mod my 1969 built 100w SLP. It’s a mind blowing amp.
so does this mod give you any kind of an attenuation function, meaning can you get good heavy/hard rock tones out of the 1959 without having to crank it to the point that the pregnant lady down the street goes into early labor?
I'm stunned. This is the best amp I have ever heard. I sit here in disbelief.
