    If I may also add: a swatch ring or at least some means of documenting and providing sample swatches of the polishes you have.
    This is well worth the money, effort and tiny amount of polish sacrificed because it will help prevent you from buying new colors you don't need, help decide on the right ones and make it easier to compare brands and their prices. Id personally recommend writing down the brand, name of the color, any particular pigment or glitter information, price and when it was purchased to say the least. The pigment or glitter info (if included) can help you make smarter buying choices because you might have the ability to mix the colors with what you have at home or realize you won't be able to that and the price and time purchased info helps when you need to restock, compare retailers and keep track of price changes that are adjusting for inflation and make sure you aren't paying too much for the same product that isn't jacking up prices as much elsewhere.
    This stuff doesn't have to be on one of those rings of nails either, it's just the most common method of keeping track and displaying stock.

    I just discovered your chanel last night, your 1st video in this series was the one I watched.
    You give a very detailed explanation on things, this one had more talking so I appreciated that. I find reading distracts from watching.
    You have a really nice, calm manner in which you speak, I so appreciate that. To many yell, and talk way to fast, it make it hard to actually focas and enjoy.
    I am really liking this series and cannot wait for the next episode, and yes, I did subscribe so I dont miss it.

      I did the same thing! It’s so hard to know at the start what is worth spending on and what is worth saving on. I mainly keep caps on them, clean them with a a clear soft gel or a quick wipe on an alcohol soaked lint free wipe, and if they are really bad/ have cured gel will do a quick acetone soak (avoiding the top of the brush as acetone can eat through the brushes glue that keep the bristles in place.)

    This question might be silly, but can you reuse press on nails? If so, how do you clean them to remove the previous glue?

    • @miniamipress
      @miniamipress  Год назад +2

      you certainly can reuse them. you could use a regular file to file off the glue. But if you wear press-ons frequently, you could always invest in an inexpensive nail drill which takes 2min to remove the glue.

    • @catpride1323
      @catpride1323 Год назад +3

      There is also a nifty little orange wood stick that has a file on the end of it.
      Like the sand paper stuff from a regular file, but its on the end of an orange wood stick.
      They are made for filing on the underside of your nail.
      They are very hard to find, because no one uses an universal name for them.
      I basically try describing it, in the search, at websites...
      But you'll know it if you see them, as its an orange wood stick with an inch or so of a colored tip.
      Purple, orange, and pink are the usual colors.
      They will last several uses, especially, if its for personal use. They are great at either ruffing up the underside of a tip, or getting old dried glue off a tip.
      They usually come in packs of 10 or more and only cost a few dollars.
      Other than that, she is correct in saying you can also get a cheap electric file online, from one of those cheap discount Chinese websites.
      Make sure to buy a diamond cone or football shaped bit to go with it.
      (you want a diamond bit so they are not to aggressive)
      They are not great for actual filing acrylic or gel nails, but for buffing tips - they would work fine.
      I've seen them as low as $30.
      Which is incredible as I paid $ 1000. For mine 25 years ago...
      I hope that helps 😊

    • @Julia-wk1tk
      @Julia-wk1tk Год назад

      @@catpride1323 Oh, I know which kind of orange wood stick with the little file you mean! In one Spanish supermarket it's the only kind of orange wood sticks that they sell. I never knew what it was for. Thank you so much for the in depth explanation!
      I like doing my own nails (I do semi permanent, though) and I've been considering trying to make my own press on so that I can comfortably make more complex and fun designs. And the fact that I could reuse them sounds tempting ☺️.

    • @catpride1323
      @catpride1323 Год назад

      @@Julia-wk1tk I am so glad I was able to help, and that you were able to understand what I was describing, it's so hard in text to explain things...
      As for your semi permanent nails, I don't quite understand, what is semi permanent??
      Personally I've never worn full cover tips, I have used tips, but the kind that you glue on, at the tip of your natural nail. (well less tips or french tips, they call them)
      Being a professional nail technician I prefer to sculpt on my own hands.
      I do see the fun in press ons, as you could change the design of your nails every few days, to match outfits and events. And of course painting on a tip is so much easier than on your own nails.
      If your going to get into press ons for personal use, be aware the set up cost is a lot.
      But in the long run, yes you'll save money .
      There is the added bonus of it being fun to create your own designs, and getting exactly what you want...
      😊

    • @catpride1323
      @catpride1323 Год назад

      One more thought, make sure you remove them properly, so you don't destroy the tips and or your nail bed. Gotta keep that nail bed healthy and undamaged, as if it is, nothing will stick to it.
      So, take the time and care to do it correctly.
      That means no ripping, pulling, picking or biting...
      And stay away from chemical removers, they will destroy the tips..
      😊

    • @miniamipress

      unfortunately due to the nature of the nail sturctre given a specific shape and length, the inner curve varies slightly between different shapes and lenghts in apres tips.

      hey welcome! for press ons, natural is generally the better choice as sculpted nails have a higher apex, which when applied with gel can be filled but is much harder to “fill” with glue, sometimes leaving a gap between the nail and the top and leading to them popping off/ not lasting as long.

      I just started looking into all of this as well and plan on taking my first steps toward it next week. I took advice from another nail youtuber and just bought the cheapest pack of extensions I found on Amazon that I will 100% not be wearing and will solely use just to get used to painting nails on the stand and learning how to control my brush strokes better. So I'm just using that, the stand and adhesive she recommend, plus some old nail polish just to practice. I figure this way I'm not wasting money by practicing on expensive tips I actually plan on using and it can help me determine if this is something I seriously want to get into as well. Best of wishes on your journey!!

    I have a question when doing 3D art do u apply the top coat to the 3D art as well?

      great question! annoying answer is, it totally depends....depends on the kind of product used to create the 3d element and if it needs the extra lock in ahesion to not fall off. But most of the time yes, I change up the viscotiy of the top gel deending on how much of the detail I want to retain.

    How do you stop your nail tips from shrinking when applying gel? The nail tips I bought fit perfectly but when I apply gel and cure it, it gets thinner 😅
