Since ditching sugar and carbs 5 weeks ago my body's inflammation has declined so much, I can suddenly breathe through both sides of my nose. This is after going through a septoplasty and two turbinate reduction surgeries about 10 years ago that only improved my breathing briefly. I'm amazed.

I lost my sense of taste and smell many years ago. I'm adhering to a very strict OMAD/Keto/IF diet as Dr. Berg instructs. I often skip 1-2 days of eating due to lack of hunger. I do at least one 3 day fast every month. I may try the things that are suggested in this video. I'm guessing that the insulin nasal spray requires a prescription, so I'll definitely take a pass on that one. Not being able to taste or smell limits any craving, which is a win in my book! My sense of smell decreased over 15 years ago. I knew I had a viral sinus infection but my sinuses seemed extremely dry but inflamed. After that I lost about 50% of my sense of smell. It's amazing how much I miss the depth of smell, like the leaves in the fall. I can only smell them slightly. The loss of smell is specific to certain things, other smells are fine like citrus. I'm a clinical educator and was still doing patient care 15 years ago. I could smell urine but not bowel movements. Doesn't seem like a bad thing to lose but in healthcare it all matters. I talked to another woman with the same exact problem and she told me she couldn't tell when her grandchildren's diapers needed to be changed.

I lost my sense of smell and taste after covid in January. My daughter lost her smell, too but now she can't stand the smell of her favorite perfume. Wait, Dr. Berg 40 UNITS? This should only be done under close observation in a safe environment, 40 units will defiantly cause Hypoglycemia. I’m an insulin dependent DM1 and can’t imagine a relatively healthy person with a working pancreas ingesting 40 units. For perspective, my pump distributes less than 2 units per hour, and when I bolus, or use insulin during a meal, I calculate the carbohydrates and “cover them” with insulin. So let’s say my blood glucose is 100, and my meal has 15 grams of carbohydrates, I would use approximately 0.7 units of insulin to stabilize my blood glucose/blood sugar.
