Waiting for a weather window to get out for a wild camp as the weather has been awful. Took my chance late in the day and it was worth the wait! An awesome camp with everything I desired including a sunrise and a sunset. Tried some baby food for dinner which didn’t go too well😂.

Ultralight down trousers (130g) and socks (45g). Minimalist design which aims to provide the best warmth to weight ratio to add warmth for your sleep system. I was amazed that I slept comfortably in them without a sleeping bag! They will get chucked in my backpack just to add lightweight comfort to my camps and I’ll be definitely using these over winter to test their capabilities.

PHDesigns - Wafer Ultima K Down Jacket
Weighing in at just 185g (205g with hood) this jacket maximises warmth to weight ratio and will keep you warm down to freezing. Ideal to put on when you arrive at camp with a depleted body after a hard day moving. It uses the same 1000 fill power down as their sleeping bags and like all of PHDesigns gear it is made in the UK. Mine is a standard sized medium and fits me perfectly and I’m 6ft with a slim (ish) athletic build but like many of their garments you can order custom sizes to suit your body shape and size. No other compant seems to do that! It looks good, it feels good and due to it’s weight and pack size worth carrying even just for emergency situations. I’ll be wearing this a lot in all parts of my life!

Another Yorkshire outdoor enthusiest got me thinking when he said.........in a nutshell...... do what you can while you are able and embrace it fully because there will come a time when you can no longer do it and will live on the memories. I am at that stage now. 74 with arthritis and other age related ailments. I never get tired of you and Blue and your wonderful zest for the outdoors.

Way back in the late 1960's we used to go on family holidays to the Lake District. One time we were going up the road towards Watendlath, past Ashness Bridge, and we stopped at a random car parking spot (no machine, no fee!) and we had no idea that we were at Surprise View. We walked over to a gap in the trees, and there we were, with Derwentwater spread out below us. It really was a genuine, and wonderful, surprise view.
That's the way to see it!

Nice vid Al, like you say some ppl can't do these things I watch all these vids as I'm riddled with arthritis but love wild camping and the outdoors, I've promised my 9 yr old daughter a year or 2 ago I will take her up a mountain 1 day and that I will definitely do im just waiting for the day my body says today is the day👍
Pick an easy route up one. There are some smaller hills amongst the mountains that actually have a better view. I hope you get that day👍👍👍
Same as @matavery6460, but after being inspired by watch this channel after yet another knee replacement in June hopefully in the summer I'll be up in the fells, there are some easier hikes but I'm doing scarefell pike, it's actually not as scarey as you think, do I hope you too can get up on the fells soon
Try keto diet for arthritis. It works did for me.

I loved this one, too. And I also had a tear in my eye (watching Al eating the baby food). More than one, actually. I was laughing so hard!! As soon as he showed us what his surprise food was, I thought, oh no. Babies don't consume salt, sugar or spices. Their food is about as appealing as it looks. I squirmed as he choked it down. 😂😂😂

As someone who wouldn’t be able to walk up there, the view at 15 mins in was breathtaking. Thanks for taking us along. Blue looked he was getting a blow dry at the summit and as for your hair….well 😂
It’s definitely one of the best views for minimal effort. Surprise View is worth a look for you if you ever go. No walking.

Top tip, take a small bottle of Tabasco and some good salt... and make the chunky and lumpy taste nicer :)

Just a thought. You said nutritionally the Ella’s kitchen stuff would be okay….but I don’t think they have much, if any salt, so after a long days walking I think it could actually cause you hassles due to salt deficiency. 😢

It was definitely a bit random but lovely to chat to you.
If you've not tried them, the 'look what we found' meals available in most supermarkets are basically the boil-in-the-bag camping ones at a fraction of the price, and not bad either - one of those with a pouch of rice makes a half decent dinner!

Thank you for your videos I love watching you I’m in chronic pain and can’t walk far and have falls so I’m in bed for around 19 hours before I had this I would run I loved too run so watching you and blue brings a smile 😃 to my face

Well you are the perfect example why people shouldn’t waste their body and time whilst it works well. You just get out and so what you can. There are plenty of beautiful places and views out there like that surprise view. All love.

I was shopping around for a new tent for ages and ended up buying the same fjallraven tent after seeing the conditions you’ve put it through 😂 I have no doubts it will stand up to the elements and hope it lasts me a long time. Thank you!! (including blue 🐕)

I use Ella baby fruit mush pouches for ultra running and hill days. Way tastier than a gel and a bit more natural.

Often wondered if tunnel tents are so nosey, in the wind how you sleep?
Yes I'm one of those no longer able to get out due to major physical issues but do so enjoy wild camping vicariously through your channel.
All tents flap but some more than others. I generally can zone out and go to sleep but ear plugs help

Great video allen, only wainwright my dog has been up, near top was doing zoomies up and down the hill coming from castle rigg camping site and all me and my wife were thinking was how much the vet bill was gonna be 😂 , luckily he was OK no harm done haha

@BUSHMANandBLUE he loved it, that was a couple years back. He's now 3 so ideal age to get him out in the mountains, he's a cockapoo so extremely daft as a brush but quite obedient
On several occasions I thought your cooking system is rubbish, more I think when it’s cold and windy. I use to have a Trangia cooking set as it works will meths rather good in all weathers. If you have a chance give it a go. Thanks for doing these videos as it brings back wonderful memories.
I have a couple meths burners but I’m not keen. Fast way to burn your tent down too 😂😂😂

Nothing wrong with baby food Al. I've just bought some at a bargain, 3 jars of sweet potato and beef for 50p and got 12 altogether. Totally agree though...they are a bit bland, I just bring a small bag with me with some spices and throw that into the mix and maybe a some bread to dip😉 Great video👍

I've done the baby food before whilst hiking as a quick hit.
For a quick snack I found the fruity ones weren't too bad, I also had a cottage pie one as well which was a bit bland.
It looked like you really didn't enjoy yours 😂
