  • Sickle cell is an incurable disease that can mean a lifetime of blood transfusions, transplants and episodes of excruciating pain. Until recently, there has been little in the way of treatment. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
But a new drug approved for use in the NHS could see as many as a third of the 15,000 sickle cell patients in this country getting a treatment that reduces that pain. But - for many - there are barriers to getting it.
We heard from some of those patients.

I too have sickle cell and im saddened to hear that some patients have given up on their lives and feel that it will always be a handicap their lives. I have been able to cure myself from shoulder necrosis, pain crisis and live a very healthy life. It took a big change in mindset and a while lifestyle change to achieve this. I wish I could teach other patients with sickle cell to do the same. It starts with the strong desire and belief in self healing and knowing that our bodies and minds are so so much more powerful than we believe them to be. - we can play a huge role in improving our health even when most medical interventions don't always work and many health institutions havent offered concrete solutions for sicklecell patients.

    (83) And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."

    (84) So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allāh].
