Their both at fault, but I understand where both are coming from. Rika kept the same energy as last loop, where Satoko was actually up front with how she felt, thus feeling betrayed. At the same time Rika doesn't have her previous memories for this loop, when compared to Satoko, and she isn't wrong for wanting life outside her home town with the hell she went through

So, she had to redo all over again with some twist that takano is not the main villain Yeah, the branding was pretty confusing but now i get it why it's named that why. It's pretty cool detail that the producer put there tbh, aside from the misunderstanding.
This is just a personal opinions so I’m not sure if this is true for other viewers but I personally wasn’t super enthused with the first three arcs of Gou, they didn’t have the depth of the VN or the disturbing visuals of the Deen adaptation, I was watching because I’m a When They Cry fan and I wanted to see where this seeming reboot turned spinoff/continuation was going. With that said the Last Two arcs have been absolutely excellent and took Gou from a 7 out of 10 for me to 9.
Tbh, Gou doesn't even come close to the original show. While the second half is godly, the first half feels so... redundant. 95% of these early arcs are scenes copy-pasted from the original, and the remaining 5%, while new and interesting, don't quite make up for the tediousness of watching the same stuff happen again and again. Especially the third arc, which literally retells the exact events from one of Kai's arcs, with the only twist coming in the very last episode. Watching Sotsu right now, I can't help but feel like these two seasons could have been easily compressed into one.
I actually did not like the idea of Satoko being a villain but Gou proved me wrong. Holy shit! I am so impressed. Come to think of it she might be better than Takano since she is a master of traps and can use her ability very strategically in the fight against Rika.
To be honest, while the girls in this school are kind of "mean girls" they are not heartless or evil, they are not good people of course but who really is?. They did show a genuine admiration towards Rika and they actually are scared and terrified when Rika died, they see their friend's corpse in front of them and they show actual emotions. In reality, you see them as actual human's who are going to school (maybe because they are forced too or maybe because they had to because to fulfil their parent's expectations). Again they, not good people, they could be more considerate towards Satoko and actually ask her to join their group or even try to approach her but it does show that they did care about Rika

Hmm now if we think about it, maybe Rika and Satoko were never meant to be friends since they only became friends because of the disaster that Takano and co. caused with all the deaths and stuff and the two becoming orphans thus they wouldn't bond if those never happened. In Rei, we could see that Satoko there hated the Rika of that world who was acting like an ojou-sama/lady-like and taking advantage of some of her male schoolmates. After years of peace in the main world (post-Matsuribayashi-hen), Rika would naturally revert back to becoming more lady-like which Satoko seems to hate so much.
That's a good point. I'm thinking Rika only invited Satoko to join her in that school to become a refined lady just like her. Then when Satoko didn't meet her expectations she abandons her.
Rika always wanted to grow up, after 100 years of being a child, a child with a horrible amount of trauma in one place, who wouldn't want to grow up and move away and remake yourself? To separate yourself from being helpless, powerless, and a victim? Rika's more than a little warped after everything. She had to find balance between her physical age and the older Rika we see when she's alone or with Hanyuu, this seems like her finding a way to balance and find rules and a system for herself to deal with that. Structure can be very important for that, especially for someone who has always known how timelines will go for over 100 years and nothing changed for all that time (horrific and as much as she wanted change. Suddenly having no rules must have been frightening in it's own way). Freedom was the goal and desired and wanted, but suddenly the future was very uncertain for her beyond "a happy life with my friends". And certainly as Frederika Berncastel we see she's very elegant and lady like. It's something she values, even though she valued Satako too.

They're not prejudiced against someone for where they come from, Rika's family used to be prominent in their tiny town, but they certainly aren't anymore, but they value deportment and behavior very highly. It's not Satako's fault she can't do that, but for them to dislike it and attempt to protect Rika from a girl they think will ruin her reputation that she's trying to create as a lady, working so hard to achieve that, especially when she confronts her in such a public area. I think they're good friends too. To them, Satako is loud, brash, with nothing to show her as valuable as a friend or acquaintance, she's in the remedial class, she doesn't seem to have any skills or connections worth having and she has no concept of what to do in public vs private. To them she is a hindrance and an embarrassment for Rika.
They definitely are not bad people. We have seen that they only acted toward Satoko that way AFTER Satoko did or said something rude or inappropriate to them. Basically, a normal reaction anyone will do. Satoko was the one who keep giving out bad impression on herself.
I find them annoying too since they exist just to show how badly Rika and Satoko's relationship has deteriotated, but they're NOTHING compared to Ange's classmates. Those bitches were fucked up, these girls are just kinda pompous and don't mean any real harm, it's just that they colloquially serve as an obstacle to our 'protagonist' Satoko and thus we find them annoying. They're not bad people but they are meant to be viewed as irritating

I've said it before and I'll say it again what happened between Rika and Satoko is an absolute tragedy! I'm surprised we are going for a 5th episode in this arc. Hope thinks get back to normal with Satoko and Rika being friends again, but seems like season 2 here we come... Gulp.
They're both at fault something tells me and this is just a prediction that they're both going to come back to each other and realize their own mistakes Rika wants to have her friend live her dreams instead of living her own dream because she has a belief that friends stick with each other through thick and thin and you do but not going to a school in living your own dreams means that your friends are leaving you there with you in your heart you have to follow your own heart and that brings me to Satoko she needs to learn to say no in a respectful way she needs to put her foot down in a friendly way she told her how she felt but she didn't put her foot down they're both going to realize these mistakes and help each other I bet that's how it's going to end

Satoko is the Witch of Certainty, thus still retaining her memory for previous timeline whenever resetting. Rika is the Witch of Miracle, even if in the sea of fragments she remember the reset timeline, but in the wherever timeline she had, she still not remember except when Bernkastel taking over. So actually Higurashi is the build-up or Umineko or Higurashi is the "game" they played in Umineko. Satoko -> Lambdadelta Rika -> Bernkastel Hanyuu -> Featherine One that's left is the Golden Witch Beatrice.

I mean to be fair let’s look at this from Rika’s prospective, you went through all of the BS in the Original series including the extra several decades of looping finally getting that happy ending with your friends, only for Truck-Kun to Isekai you to another timeline where all those relationships didn’t happen. You’re trying to get back to that timeline with those friends, when some snot nosed punk wearing the face of the person you care about the most yanks your key to getting back to your friends out of your hands to tease you. Can you really blame Rika for lashing out? Satoko spent two years in misery while Rika experienced a century of ritualistic disembowelment, I think Rika is entitled to be a more cranky.

I'm not trying to blame Rika for her own death, but there's another scene from a couple episodes back where Satoko kills Rika, and when I connect the dots here, that particular scene makes sense. Yes, Rika did extend a helping hand to Satoko, but once Satoko said no, one time, Rika was basically like.. "Welp, Fuck you then".. As a friend, Rika should've tried harder to help Satoko, but she was too busy enjoying being treated like a god, while Satoko was being completely disregarded... I just find it sad how even in her death, she's disregarded. No one bothers to question what would make someone commit a murder-suicide, just... "Oh nooo... Rika's dead" Keep in mind these new "friends," weren't even real friends, like Satoko was to Rika... They were more like "followers" than anything

You might feel sad for them or just don't care but you'll quickly forget about it anyway. Satoko is a kind of background character in that school, no one really know her, and they are not wrong for that. About Rika's friends, I don't think we actually know them enough to claim that. We only saw the event from mostly Satoko's POV. We don't actually know how close Rika is to them or what they have been talking or doing together through out a year at St.Lucia.

We've literally created a whole hotline full of complete strangers whose job it is to talk people out of suicide and encourage that life has meaning and will get better.. It's still a sad situation regardless of whether you know the person or not... Satoko should've at least received some level of sympathy. As far as Rika's friends go, I think it's a pretty valid claim. I'm only comparing the bond that Rika had with Satoko to the bond that she had with her new friends. It's true that we don't know what they did off-screen, but on-screen, all we saw was talking about politics and tea time. Either way, there's literally nothing that she could have done with them in the span of a year that could have surpassed the bond that she had with Satoko, her lifelong friend that sacrificed everything to be there with her.

Their friendship started with a very sudden and odd-feeling "lol you look cute we should be friends now." And they treat her like actual royalty throughout the year. Even the other people treat her like a celebrity whenever she walks into school. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, and feels like an unsubtle way to portray Rika as the perfect lady this show is trying to make her look like. I also agree about your points on Rika herself. She quickly ditched her best friend (whom she's known very closely all her life, and knows all about including how Satoko's mental state is at a very pitiful state and that she has a lot of issues ranging from serperation issues, commitment issues and not wanting to ask for her even when she's at an absolute low-point) for a few pompous people that constantly talk crap about her life long best friend. She asked Satoko to hang out twice. Once at the start of the growing apart, but the environment she invited Satoko to was one she clearly didn't belong and should have realised was always going to be turned down. The second time in a bit of a down-looking manner asking if she needs study help (despite knowing that Satoko would never appreciate that). She didn't really make any serious efforts to keep her around however, so Satoko had a good reason to feel left alone and her where her feelings stem from are clear as day. However, I feel like you are forgetting an important part of the puzzle in this comment (Starting with "I'm more looking at a girl who was driven insane") The thing I feel you are forgetting being: They don't get to see Satoko the way we do. These friends have never attempted to get anywhere near Satoko. Why would they? They don't like her for being rude and unladylike. Rika, who they do like, doesn't really stop them from openly trash-talking Satoko all the time (apart from one time far down the year, when Satoko got herself in trouble over a classic childish prank she tried to pull). They do not know Satoko. They cannot know anything about Satoko's mental state, know fairly little about her actual personality. The murder-suicide was very sudden to them, and in their perspective, the girl they always disliked just killed their friend in front of their eyes (yes, and herself). It isn't very odd for them not to shout her name too. Noone in that school really cared for Satoko, but they did for Rika, who they just saw getting killed by that same Satoko they disliked. The first thing anyone will most likely scream is Rika's name. Satoko's unlikely to be followed, seen as the murder, rather than a victim in their eyes. (And again, someone they didn't even like on top of that, and someone who really had no other friends than Rika to call out for her in the first place). Of course, the suicide didn't just happen out of the blue for Satoko. Even Rika would have understood that if she wasn't killed with her. The other students just happen to lack the information to have a true understanding of it and just saw a sudden murder-suicide that killed another girl they actually considered a friend. Most people in real life would care about the victim (in this case Rika) more. Most people would care about their friend among the two more (In this case Rika again). And a lot of people wouldn't even like to get a perspective on every side and would instead always hate on the culprit (in this case Satoko). Whether it's right or wrong to hate on the murdered in a murder suicide is not something I'm willing to discuss here, so I'm not going to share my own thoughts on that, but solely looking at the perspectives of the St. Lucia studenst, their reaction, in my eyes, is understandable.
Satoko must have read 'The Phantom Of The Opera' by Gaston Leroux and got inspirations from the story to create the chandelier trap just like Erik done to help secure Christine's fame!
Rika's is so cold towards Satoko while in that religious school. Wasn't expecting a suicide attempt at the end, but I guess its the only way to reset the time line back to 1983. Rika has problems getting out of the loop before Satoko got the powers. Now she's 100% screwed and probably requires Satoko to die to truly escape it now. Course I'm probably wrong and still confused as hell of how the plot works in this show.
Satoka really needs to get over her abandonment issues and accept that sometimes you have to part ways. Change is a part of life and you have to let other people pursue their own happiness.
She does need to get over it however I can't blame her for feeling hurt after her bestfriend abandoned her, especially after making a promise like the one rika made in this episode. Satoko did plan on letting rika pursue her own happiness rika just foolishly thought satoko was apart of that happiness and satoko learned once again that she isn't.

I think it was moreso that Satoka doesn't have anyone like Rika to replace her. Once she's gone, Satoka doesn't have someone shes as close to as Rika. She was worried about leaving Satoka alone, so she wanted her close by. Rika did let down Satoka to an extent (even though she did offer some help) but she didn't deserve to get murdered over it. I don't know about you guys, but to me i am honestly disappointed in rika. Satoko finally got the chance to tell rika in how she truly felt in not wanting to go to St. Lucia, and yet rika pressured her to go with her, rika promised that she will always be there for satoko and look what just happened, rika once again broke that promise and made satoko feel rejected and lonely again.
There was a moment in satokowashi hen I think it was part 2 where Rika did ask Satoko if she wanted to go with her but Satoko did decline. I will admit that Rika should’ve tried harder to get Satoko back on the right path, but she did at least try to help Satoko, albeit it was out of pity.

Her expectations on Rika were of that cheerful simple girl that she befriended on Hinamizawa not of the high-class and well manered girl with her stingy flatterer friends. Satoko mistake was of not going her own way and letting Rika live the high-class life alone. While Rika's mistake was of thiking that Satoko would and should stay with her on that road; insisting on bringing her to St. Lucia only worsened up the problem.

Satoko bought that study guide with no persuasion from Rika BEFORE their talk and afterwards tried to actively sabotage Rika's dream. Friends don't that, that is EXTREMELY controlling. Even after they get to St. Lucia Satoko pushes Rika's help away even though she was constantly worrying about Satoko based on what one of Rika's friend said. I mean, I understand with what Satoko has gone through why she would be unwilling to let go of Rika, but her trauma is not a justification for her behaviour. And I find it mindblowing how people forget that Rika has finally made it out of her 100yrs of suffering, and is someone who deserves to go after her dreams without compromise. Also, do you really think that after everything Rika has experienced with Satoko, she would toss Satoko to the side like that? Honestly to me it seems like Satoko couldn't stand the idea of Rika being close to anyone else

I mean some things I look at. It'd justifiable why Rika wanted to leave and go to st lucia, being trapped in that town for 100 years of pain and suffering would make her resent the hell outta the town. Although yes I agree Rika and Satoko both have their faults in this scenario, granted it never justifies Satoko thinking murder is the only way, especially now that we know she proceeds to cause Rika continued suffering multiple new loops. Also something I speculated seems true, that Satoko was completely unaware that Rika is familiar with loops and had been suffering to save herself, satoko, and their friends for a good century, would that have had any bearing on this situation had satoko known Rika suffered before? Edit: just remembered Rika has low-key mentioned to satoko about the loops in nekodamashi, as well as it seeming that Satoko is killing Rika so she "learns' to stay in hinamizawa in the next loops, so maybe she's aware that Rika can loop??? Idk how she'd learn or then if that raises the question if she knows of the century Rika endured
Nekodamashi happens later though doesn't it? I don't think she would've known about Rika being a looper at this point because this is the very first loop she goes through after making the contract with Featherine. So she didn't kill herself and Rika here while knowing that because she didn't have any memories or knowledge of the original Higurashi gameboard and how she wasn't the game master in it. But I assume she will eventually and then either Featherine will tell her about Rika or she'll remember how she died in Minagoroshi. And that's when the Nekodamashi loops will be go into effect.

Except Rika didn't backstab her, Rika just integrated with the lifestyle she wanted and made NEW friends. All those girls would be good friends with Satoko, if Satoko wasn't just acting insane and jealous. Yeah the schoolwork is tough for her, but it doesn't give her an excuse to take it all out on Rika.

I think that's the point , Rika wants everything , her best friend and a fancy school, the problem is life is compromise , she should have seen the moment Satoko told her what would happen she should have talked it out and seen a way to communicate even when far away , Satoko has to learn people have different wants and its okay to say no , the episode did at least show that Satoko was willing to talk things out with Rika on how she wouldnt like St Lucía and that was a good show of maturity, sadly she still cant let go.

No one find it creepy when the whole school treat Rika like a God ? This is a school for young lady , most of them are noble or high class . So Rika could easily fit in because she was a (kinda) high class herself, and Satoko is just a normal person . In fact , I think they isolated her is because of the different in their class ( and how she acted too ). In 1:57 , they acted so surprised , even when they know Rika and Satoko are friend , because noble didn’t usually hug or directly touch others while it’s common for normal people

They even had a shitty tragic childhood where Satoko ends up abused by her uncle and aunt while Satoshi had to protect her until his mental health deteriorated and Sakura had to be overwhelmed with crest worms against her will by her adoptive grandfather and having to be bullied and sexually abused by her asshole adoptive brother, Shinji!

Yeah, the branding was pretty confusing but now i get it why it's named that why. It's pretty cool detail that the producer put there tbh, aside from the misunderstanding.
This is just a personal opinions so I’m not sure if this is true for other viewers but I personally wasn’t super enthused with the first three arcs of Gou, they didn’t have the depth of the VN or the disturbing visuals of the Deen adaptation, I was watching because I’m a When They Cry fan and I wanted to see where this seeming reboot turned spinoff/continuation was going. With that said the Last Two arcs have been absolutely excellent and took Gou from a 7 out of 10 for me to 9.
Tbh, Gou doesn't even come close to the original show.
While the second half is godly, the first half feels so... redundant. 95% of these early arcs are scenes copy-pasted from the original, and the remaining 5%, while new and interesting, don't quite make up for the tediousness of watching the same stuff happen again and again.
Especially the third arc, which literally retells the exact events from one of Kai's arcs, with the only twist coming in the very last episode.
Watching Sotsu right now, I can't help but feel like these two seasons could have been easily compressed into one.
I actually did not like the idea of Satoko being a villain but Gou proved me wrong. Holy shit! I am so impressed. Come to think of it she might be better than Takano since she is a master of traps and can use her ability very strategically in the fight against Rika.
I would've liked more of a proper explanation as to why Satoko snapped than what we ended up getting, but they have piqued my interest.
And also because Satoko has a deity on her side and Takano was only being helped by her fellow mortals

To be honest, while the girls in this school are kind of "mean girls" they are not heartless or evil, they are not good people of course but who really is?.
They did show a genuine admiration towards Rika and they actually are scared and terrified when Rika died, they see their friend's corpse in front of them and they show actual emotions.
In reality, you see them as actual human's who are going to school (maybe because they are forced too or maybe because they had to because to fulfil their parent's expectations). Again they, not good people, they could be more considerate towards Satoko and actually ask her to join their group or even try to approach her but it does show that they did care about Rika

I thought she was going to rig the entire school to casue chaos and kill the other students before gunning for rika
Hmm now if we think about it, maybe Rika and Satoko were never meant to be friends since they only became friends because of the disaster that Takano and co. caused with all the deaths and stuff and the two becoming orphans thus they wouldn't bond if those never happened. In Rei, we could see that Satoko there hated the Rika of that world who was acting like an ojou-sama/lady-like and taking advantage of some of her male schoolmates. After years of peace in the main world (post-Matsuribayashi-hen), Rika would naturally revert back to becoming more lady-like which Satoko seems to hate so much.
That's a good point. I'm thinking Rika only invited Satoko to join her in that school to become a refined lady just like her. Then when Satoko didn't meet her expectations she abandons her.
Makes sense. Rika was always like that, it's just that she suffering she went through hid that side of her. Poor Satoko.
Rika always wanted to grow up, after 100 years of being a child, a child with a horrible amount of trauma in one place, who wouldn't want to grow up and move away and remake yourself? To separate yourself from being helpless, powerless, and a victim? Rika's more than a little warped after everything. She had to find balance between her physical age and the older Rika we see when she's alone or with Hanyuu, this seems like her finding a way to balance and find rules and a system for herself to deal with that. Structure can be very important for that, especially for someone who has always known how timelines will go for over 100 years and nothing changed for all that time (horrific and as much as she wanted change. Suddenly having no rules must have been frightening in it's own way). Freedom was the goal and desired and wanted, but suddenly the future was very uncertain for her beyond "a happy life with my friends". And certainly as Frederika Berncastel we see she's very elegant and lady like. It's something she values, even though she valued Satako too.

They're not prejudiced against someone for where they come from, Rika's family used to be prominent in their tiny town, but they certainly aren't anymore, but they value deportment and behavior very highly. It's not Satako's fault she can't do that, but for them to dislike it and attempt to protect Rika from a girl they think will ruin her reputation that she's trying to create as a lady, working so hard to achieve that, especially when she confronts her in such a public area. I think they're good friends too. To them, Satako is loud, brash, with nothing to show her as valuable as a friend or acquaintance, she's in the remedial class, she doesn't seem to have any skills or connections worth having and she has no concept of what to do in public vs private. To them she is a hindrance and an embarrassment for Rika.
They definitely are not bad people. We have seen that they only acted toward Satoko that way AFTER Satoko did or said something rude or inappropriate to them. Basically, a normal reaction anyone will do. Satoko was the one who keep giving out bad impression on herself.
I find them annoying too since they exist just to show how badly Rika and Satoko's relationship has deteriotated, but they're NOTHING compared to Ange's classmates. Those bitches were fucked up, these girls are just kinda pompous and don't mean any real harm, it's just that they colloquially serve as an obstacle to our 'protagonist' Satoko and thus we find them annoying. They're not bad people but they are meant to be viewed as irritating

You’re trying to get back to that timeline with those friends, when some snot nosed punk wearing the face of the person you care about the most yanks your key to getting back to your friends out of your hands to tease you. Can you really blame Rika for lashing out? Satoko spent two years in misery while Rika experienced a century of ritualistic disembowelment, I think Rika is entitled to be a more cranky.

I'm not trying to blame Rika for her own death, but there's another scene from a couple episodes back where Satoko kills Rika, and when I connect the dots here, that particular scene makes sense.
Yes, Rika did extend a helping hand to Satoko, but once Satoko said no, one time, Rika was basically like.. "Welp, Fuck you then".. As a friend, Rika should've tried harder to help Satoko, but she was too busy enjoying being treated like a god, while Satoko was being completely disregarded... I just find it sad how even in her death, she's disregarded. No one bothers to question what would make someone commit a murder-suicide, just... "Oh nooo... Rika's dead" Keep in mind these new "friends," weren't even real friends, like Satoko was to Rika... They were more like "followers" than anything

About Rika's friends, I don't think we actually know them enough to claim that. We only saw the event from mostly Satoko's POV. We don't actually know how close Rika is to them or what they have been talking or doing together through out a year at St.Lucia.

Idk about that one... In real life, suicide has become pretty big issue over the years... We've literally created a whole hotline full of complete strangers whose job it is to talk people out of suicide and encourage that life has meaning and will get better.. It's still a sad situation regardless of whether you know the person or not... Satoko should've at least received some level of sympathy.
As far as Rika's friends go, I think it's a pretty valid claim. I'm only comparing the bond that Rika had with Satoko to the bond that she had with her new friends. It's true that we don't know what they did off-screen, but on-screen, all we saw was talking about politics and tea time. Either way, there's literally nothing that she could have done with them in the span of a year that could have surpassed the bond that she had with Satoko, her lifelong friend that sacrificed everything to be there with her.

I agree with your points in the second part of your comment, just to start.
Rika's friends were not written amazingly. Their friendship started with a very sudden and odd-feeling "lol you look cute we should be friends now." And they treat her like actual royalty throughout the year. Even the other people treat her like a celebrity whenever she walks into school. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, and feels like an unsubtle way to portray Rika as the perfect lady this show is trying to make her look like.
I also agree about your points on Rika herself. She quickly ditched her best friend (whom she's known very closely all her life, and knows all about including how Satoko's mental state is at a very pitiful state and that she has a lot of issues ranging from serperation issues, commitment issues and not wanting to ask for her even when she's at an absolute low-point) for a few pompous people that constantly talk crap about her life long best friend.
She asked Satoko to hang out twice. Once at the start of the growing apart, but the environment she invited Satoko to was one she clearly didn't belong and should have realised was always going to be turned down. The second time in a bit of a down-looking manner asking if she needs study help (despite knowing that Satoko would never appreciate that).
She didn't really make any serious efforts to keep her around however, so Satoko had a good reason to feel left alone and her where her feelings stem from are clear as day.
However, I feel like you are forgetting an important part of the puzzle in this comment (Starting with "I'm more looking at a girl who was driven insane")
The thing I feel you are forgetting being: They don't get to see Satoko the way we do.
These friends have never attempted to get anywhere near Satoko. Why would they? They don't like her for being rude and unladylike. Rika, who they do like, doesn't really stop them from openly trash-talking Satoko all the time (apart from one time far down the year, when Satoko got herself in trouble over a classic childish prank she tried to pull).
They do not know Satoko. They cannot know anything about Satoko's mental state, know fairly little about her actual personality.
The murder-suicide was very sudden to them, and in their perspective, the girl they always disliked just killed their friend in front of their eyes (yes, and herself). It isn't very odd for them not to shout her name too. Noone in that school really cared for Satoko, but they did for Rika, who they just saw getting killed by that same Satoko they disliked. The first thing anyone will most likely scream is Rika's name. Satoko's unlikely to be followed, seen as the murder, rather than a victim in their eyes. (And again, someone they didn't even like on top of that, and someone who really had no other friends than Rika to call out for her in the first place).
Of course, the suicide didn't just happen out of the blue for Satoko. Even Rika would have understood that if she wasn't killed with her. The other students just happen to lack the information to have a true understanding of it and just saw a sudden murder-suicide that killed another girl they actually considered a friend. Most people in real life would care about the victim (in this case Rika) more. Most people would care about their friend among the two more (In this case Rika again). And a lot of people wouldn't even like to get a perspective on every side and would instead always hate on the culprit (in this case Satoko).
Whether it's right or wrong to hate on the murdered in a murder suicide is not something I'm willing to discuss here, so I'm not going to share my own thoughts on that, but solely looking at the perspectives of the St. Lucia studenst, their reaction, in my eyes, is understandable.

Satoko must have read 'The Phantom Of The Opera' by Gaston Leroux and got inspirations from the story to create the chandelier trap just like Erik done to help secure Christine's fame!

Rika's is so cold towards Satoko while in that religious school. Wasn't expecting a suicide attempt at the end, but I guess its the only way to reset the time line back to 1983. Rika has problems getting out of the loop before Satoko got the powers. Now she's 100% screwed and probably requires Satoko to die to truly escape it now. Course I'm probably wrong and still confused as hell of how the plot works in this show.

Satoka really needs to get over her abandonment issues and accept that sometimes you have to part ways. Change is a part of life and you have to let other people pursue their own happiness.
She tried to follow her own happiness, but Rika was selfish all the time.
People change, but they are different. Rika tries to impose her dreams on Satoko, makes promises and then leaves her.
She does need to get over it however I can't blame her for feeling hurt after her bestfriend abandoned her, especially after making a promise like the one rika made in this episode. Satoko did plan on letting rika pursue her own happiness rika just foolishly thought satoko was apart of that happiness and satoko learned once again that she isn't.

I think it was moreso that Satoka doesn't have anyone like Rika to replace her. Once she's gone, Satoka doesn't have someone shes as close to as Rika. She was worried about leaving Satoka alone, so she wanted her close by.
Rika did let down Satoka to an extent (even though she did offer some help) but she didn't deserve to get murdered over it. Its been one loop and she already murdered her best friend lol.

I don't know about you guys, but to me i am honestly disappointed in rika. Satoko finally got the chance to tell rika in how she truly felt in not wanting to go to St. Lucia, and yet rika pressured her to go with her, rika promised that she will always be there for satoko and look what just happened, rika once again broke that promise and made satoko feel rejected and lonely again.
There was a moment in satokowashi hen I think it was part 2 where Rika did ask Satoko if she wanted to go with her but Satoko did decline. I will admit that Rika should’ve tried harder to get Satoko back on the right path, but she did at least try to help Satoko, albeit it was out of pity.
That maybe but she is just as at fault they're actually both still at fault because she should have put her foot down and said no respectfully and in a friendly way not like they're not going to be friends just because one follows their own dreams that's where they're both wrong they think that they have to go along with what the other one says
@@Joever5634 Even if she accepted, it would be so unnatural for Satoko to have a tea party with some whimsy rich girls. Her expectations on Rika were of that cheerful simple girl that she befriended on Hinamizawa not of the high-class and well manered girl with her stingy flatterer friends.
Satoko mistake was of not going her own way and letting Rika live the high-class life alone. While Rika's mistake was of thiking that Satoko would and should stay with her on that road; insisting on bringing her to St. Lucia only worsened up the problem.

I mean, Rika did tell Satoko that if she didn't want to go to St. Lucia, she was willing to go by herself and even that Satoko couldn't accept. Satoko bought that study guide with no persuasion from Rika BEFORE their talk and afterwards tried to actively sabotage Rika's dream. Friends don't that, that is EXTREMELY controlling. Even after they get to St. Lucia Satoko pushes Rika's help away even though she was constantly worrying about Satoko based on what one of Rika's friend said. I mean, I understand with what Satoko has gone through why she would be unwilling to let go of Rika, but her trauma is not a justification for her behaviour. And I find it mindblowing how people forget that Rika has finally made it out of her 100yrs of suffering, and is someone who deserves to go after her dreams without compromise.
Also, do you really think that after everything Rika has experienced with Satoko, she would toss Satoko to the side like that?

I mean some things I look at. It'd justifiable why Rika wanted to leave and go to st lucia, being trapped in that town for 100 years of pain and suffering would make her resent the hell outta the town. Although yes I agree Rika and Satoko both have their faults in this scenario, granted it never justifies Satoko thinking murder is the only way, especially now that we know she proceeds to cause Rika continued suffering multiple new loops. Also something I speculated seems true, that Satoko was completely unaware that Rika is familiar with loops and had been suffering to save herself, satoko, and their friends for a good century, would that have had any bearing on this situation had satoko known Rika suffered before?
Edit: just remembered Rika has low-key mentioned to satoko about the loops in nekodamashi, as well as it seeming that Satoko is killing Rika so she "learns' to stay in hinamizawa in the next loops, so maybe she's aware that Rika can loop??? Idk how she'd learn or then if that raises the question if she knows of the century Rika endured
Nekodamashi happens later though doesn't it? I don't think she would've known about Rika being a looper at this point because this is the very first loop she goes through after making the contract with Featherine. So she didn't kill herself and Rika here while knowing that because she didn't have any memories or knowledge of the original Higurashi gameboard and how she wasn't the game master in it. But I assume she will eventually and then either Featherine will tell her about Rika or she'll remember how she died in Minagoroshi. And that's when the Nekodamashi loops will be go into effect.

I think that's the point , Rika wants everything , her best friend and a fancy school, the problem is life is compromise , she should have seen the moment Satoko told her what would happen she should have talked it out and seen a way to communicate even when far away , Satoko has to learn people have different wants and its okay to say no , the episode did at least show that Satoko was willing to talk things out with Rika on how she wouldnt like St Lucía and that was a good show of maturity, sadly she still cant let go.

No one find it creepy when the whole school treat Rika like a God ? This is a school for young lady , most of them are noble or high class . So Rika could easily fit in because she was a (kinda) high class herself, and Satoko is just a normal person . In fact , I think they isolated her is because of the different in their class ( and how she acted too ). In 1:57 , they acted so surprised , even when they know Rika and Satoko are friend , because noble didn’t usually hug or directly touch others while it’s common for normal people

Satoko could be the Higurashi equivalent to Sakura Matou of Fate/Stay Night as she's much fixated on Shirou as her girlfriend because he supports her emotionally while she's jealous of her sister, Rin whom she even still loves. They even had a shitty tragic childhood where Satoko ends up abused by her uncle and aunt while Satoshi had to protect her until his mental health deteriorated and Sakura had to be overwhelmed with crest worms against her will by her adoptive grandfather and having to be bullied and sexually abused by her asshole adoptive brother, Shinji!
