Love this, I have 3 x patch bays and struggle so much with this issue. Embarrassing on a session when you are trying to patch stuff in with the client watching.
Just got mine in yesterday. These are great. Not sure how these aren’t more well known. Thanks for this tip. For anyone else ordering, when you get them, make sure you peel from the direction that says “peel from this end”. Don’t be like me having to manually remove all the 48 cable cutouts. 😂😂😂
i went to music store to get a patchbay today and stumbled upon some samsons with these same stickers. I thought they were super cool and almost got one over the dbx i ended up getting to match the rest of my bay. the crazy part of this is that this video dropped the same day i first seen them. Clearly a sign that i need to order these for my three bays right now. Thanks for the video this will defintley help espicially with how long it was taking me to use a label printer to print and cut each label to the super thin label strip all the while trying to keep it perfectly lined up. The music gods were singing to me today!!!
I’ve been using Patch Cad for this for years can do the the same thing Except for the cutting. I had to do all of my labels manually put the paper cutter. This is pretty cool.
We use patchCAD for a bunch of stuff as well and it’s a great tool. We developed this service since paper labels don’t really work as well with the TRS/XLR bays
Nice. I run the older trace audio dry erase version. Next time I have an overhaul I’ll grab one of these. Thanks for the video. Otherwise I’d never know. 😅
Thanks for the video.I have 3 low Z patch bays for my home studio. What a great solution.Printing labels with the label printer and applying them can be a challenge..I'll be checking out their website.I've picked up useable tips from your channel.👍
Do you know if they will do a version of these custom labels but for Bantam patch ? I have the Signex Bantam TT-Phone ! Thank you for your content ! Cheers from France !
I don’t have a patchbay, but I’ve always wondered how you’d patch a mic into the patchbay? Are you even supposed to? Does it handle phantom power? And do you use an xlr to trs to Connect??
Good timing, I just got my second patch bay and rewiring the studio! I have used 1U space for labelling but don't have that space anymore, and was lamenting having to use the small space to write on the Sampsons!.. EDIT. Costs 1/3 the price of the patch bay to get them to Australia $76.52 AUD
Colt, What is in that rack that you are hiding behind you? Great video by the way. The label idea is great and you say they are easy to remove? What if you want to try and put it back on?
Stay tuned for a future video 😜 They come off easily and leave zero residue, I would imagine you could probably put them back on once or twice, but like all stickers eventually they will fail to stick
You can absolutely remove it and re-apply it if you don't nail it the first time. The adhesive is strong enough to keep the label on, but not so strong that you can't re-apply it.
@@traceaudio5797 Great I have 3 of those Samson patch bays and I am currently using my custom Excel spread sheet to capture my layout that I refer to as I patch.
I have a weird thing about Patchbays. Its boring money to spend haha, since its not a product i can turn knobs and color things with. Even tho' i often find my self needing one xD I should buy one soon tho' and just get it over with.
Definitely not a “sexy” purchase but it means you spend less time hooking up gear and more time creating. Definitely a worthwhile investment in the long run
I worked in printing for a few years- $30 is actually a very good price for a full color sticker print with precision laser cutting. And they've got multiple patchbay models they've preconfigured for their web app? Pretty nice. Surcharge for a custom logo is extremely silly, though. It's a negligible amount of toner and wouldn't require any labor on their end unless they're also cutting it (and why would they be?)
What we are charging for is private labeling, not necessarily the cost of ink. It’s a fee that offsets the cost of removing our logo and replacing it with the customers. This offsets the fact that the brand recognition is lost since our logo won’t be there anymore.
You have cost me more money this week 😂. I saw your MBox Studio video and well… had to have one and that was going to require rewiring the studio. Since I’m doing that might as well spend a few more bucks for some labels right???? Thank for the videos!
Just got a compressor added to my set up! This video dropped at the perfect timing! I was going to get a patchbay. Maybe ill will the give away!! Thanks
I was very excited to go get one of those customized printed labels, but TraceAudio doesn’t support TT patchbays (yet?). I hope they add them. Seems like what the majority of studios would be using instead of 1/4”.
Just looking at this, every patchbay is different. Very different. With raised panels above and below, to uneven spacing, from 1/4" to TT. Itsimpossible to match every patchbay. Maybe this is just for 1/4" patchbays? I will check it. Labeling the patchbay definitely is a total pain and I had to make a template in Photoshop.
We’ve had a lot of customers use our blank labels and then use a label maker on top of those. This way they don’t damage the faceplate with the super strong adhesive labels from a label maker. It also allows you to peel them all off in one go if you are re-doing your setup
@@traceaudio5797 Maybe I was lucky but my Isopatch came with a little plastic cover where you can slide the label maker in, without damaging anything. Although I admit color coding seems very convenient!
Hi Colt, not being an smart ass here but try to not pull your patch cables by the cable, instead do it by the plug this will make your cables last longer and not have problems during the sessions. Cheers mate ;-)
Maybe they should make pre-cut labels you could print yourself.. Caveat being the the label would have to be split in half to fit in a printer. I'm sure that if they don't, someone might, eventually.... Although it seems that matrix patch bays might be getting more popular. I'm somewhat surprised you don't have one of those yet... 🤔
I always print my patch labels and put them behind a 1/2 rack strip, it takes a little space but easier to connect at the back. One thing that should be not allowed is putting in or out in the label, someone who doesn’t know that should stay away from the patch bay 😂 Nice service ❤
One question for you Colt, do you have anything normalled or are you using patch cables for everything. I was going to do what you seem to be doing until I found out that each freekin TT cable was like 10-12$ each! LOL.
Yo, why would you have your interface's outs directly over your ins? Why wouldn't you want to take advantage of normaling your gear to your ins and your outs to your effects? Isn't that half the reason to get a patch bay?
It would be cool to get some. I recently bought a Redco 96tt and simply and cost effectively print them out with the excel spreadsheet. But they don’t really come out as beautiful and polished as the traceaudio stuff. I’ll be checking your website to see if any updates appear. Thanks.
Hey Colt, quite disappointed that you actually delete any comments that don't fit your taste. I guess you need to do this product placement to grow, but it's really painful to watch sometimes with all the "I cannot recommend it enough" comments. You do in fact sound like a car salesman from time to time ;)
I almost never delete comments. The only comments I delete are, if they are extremely hostile, or vulgar. RUclips, however, holds comments for review all the time. And I don’t have time to go through and review them. So if you don’t see your comment, it’s because RUclips has held it for review.
Trace Audio wired up my studio for me. Ben is the man. Dude is solid.
I got a custom 24 channel stage box made by Trace. The thing is built like a tank. Amazing workmanship.

I have the normal non labled stickers and I'm now even more excited about these customizable ones!
I've bought several Capi pre amps and compressors from Trace Audio. What a great company!

I ordered 3 the other day. These are gonna be a life saver. Plus Trace audio was super helpful with their customer service, highly recommended.
I bought the plain white version right after I saw it in one of your earlier videos. Such a great idea! Works perfectly with the Samson patchbays
Ordered. Can't wait to get it. Thanks for the heads up.

Really cool service, though I wish they offered this for the Redco 96 point bantam patchbay.
We’ve got blank labels for the redco bays and will add custom ones very soon!
That's excellent news with the custom Redco labels, I'll keep an eye out on your site and also sign up for your newsletter. @@traceaudio5797
Once there’s switchcraft 9625 templates I’m so in!
💯
Exactly I’ve been waiting for months for them to add them. Baffled that they’re not already on there. Not too many rooms I’m aware of have TRS bays.
How would that work with plastic strips on the top and bottom being in the way? in the way?
This looks awesome, no more gaff tape on my rig!!! Thanks for showcasing this Colt!
I have a Trace Audio Patchbay label for my patchbay, but did not know about this one !!!
So Cool. Very much would like to do this. Thx Colt. Happy 🐣 Easter. ☺️
I have to get this. Yeah I have two patchbays and they were game changers.
Neat product! It looks like you non-normal all of your patchbay i/o. Curious about why? Easier to think about it all?
Yeah, I just like seeing every input and output. And I have the I/O to do it.
I prefer non-normal too just to keep my head straight and not have i/o from a single piece of gear spread out in different places on the patchbay
Can't wait to buy mine for my patchabys

does the patch bay need to be balanced or can you use an unbalanced patch bay
If you are using balanced gear, then the patch base should be balanced
have my bay memorized but still want this
What’s the brand of your TRS patch cables?
Have you considered re-organizing your patch bay to use the “normalled” function, requiring fewer patch cables?
Do you know if they will do a version of these custom labels but for Bantam patch ?
I have the Signex Bantam TT-Phone !
Thank you for your content !
Cheers from France !
I’m not sure about that particular model, but I know they are actively working on adding new models
@@ColtCapperrunethanks man ! I’ll check the brand out to verify if something is coming 😉
How easy is it to replace the old sticker with a new one? Looks great! Can't wait to get one.
Can't order it to Europe / Germany :(
Great info! May I ask which sidecar rack are you showing in the video? Couldn't find it in the description links section. Thanks!! 🙏🙏

Trace Audio should create skins for any piece of rack equipment. Or, maybe they do already. Awesome stuff.
Super cool l. Unfortunately they don’t have Switchcraft TT bays available.
What's your opinion on an Antelope Audio Interface, where you have a digital patchbay?
which is better to use when using a patchbay balanced or unbalanced
