I'm no good at Peps as you know, but if you're using tap water maybe that's it. The Chloramine and the salts build up, so I use a neutraliser now called API Stress Coat and most of the plants are better with it, no crispy edges. Hang in there Amy, I think the fern will come back in the Spring if you keep it damp x
Ooh I hadn’t heard of that before but I’ve found it on Amazon!
Yeah I’m gonna keep it in the bathroom and see what happens ☺️ fingers crossed it has a comeback! Thank you for watching 🥰🌿
#1 peperomia - maybe nutrient deficiency? Try to fertilize, maybe even on leaves, with weaker solution.
#3 calathea - mine is huge. Maybe, up size the pot? And put it deeper in a room - i guess less light makes bigger leaves on it.
# Ficus - dont make it dry out completely and water from the bottom as well. My ficus was loosing leaves, was yellowing - when i added bottom watering and more often it came alive, now its green and full.
About pep. pixi and ludisias i want to hear advice too, because i lost pixi the same way and one of my ludisias slowly loosing little baby-branches - rotting as well.
I have been TERRIBLE at fertilizing the last couple of months! I’ve made up a new batch to keep by the sink 😂 and I’ll definitely repot the calathea ☺️
I am paranoid about overwatering so I do tend to leave things maybe too long, I’ll see if that improves the ficus, thank you! 💚 from reading other comments I think the rotting Ludisia problem is common! Thank you for watching 🥰🌱
I grow my ludisia in compost with added perlite topped with bark as per Miss Orchid Girl and so far (a couple of years in), this seems to work ok.
That sounds similar to what I’d been using but I might try giving them a fresh mix soon if it continues to rot, thank you and thank you for watching! 🌿🥰
I grow ferns, stromanthe and marantas in self watering pots , it might be worth a try. I use a soil mix in the pot n you can make your own self watering with microfiber cloths cut into a strip as a wick. Keeps costs down , hope you find your solutions we get attached to our plants and want them to live their best lives xxx
Thank you very much for the advice! I think I’m going to give that diy a go when I’ve got a sec! Thankfully since repotting that fern it’s not been drying out so fast but I think a self watering system will help me out! Thank you for watching 🥰💚🌿
Ficuses need lots of light, even direct sun on their leaves. And good drainage
I’d say it’s got good drainage but I could definitely give it more light! Thank you and thanks for watching 🥰🌿
I have the same problem with my jewel orchids. They do well for about a year, and then they start to slowly rot. I'm experimenting with one, I switched it to inorganic bonsai mix. I'm hoping it helps my Ludisia.🤞 Some of my peperomia have been declining this winter. Lots of leaf drop. I hope your plants make a turn around. 🤞
Ooh hopefully you have more luck with that mix!
I’ve definitely noticed that with some of my other peperomia too, I want them to get enough light but I don’t want them to get cold 😂 thank you for watching! 🌿🥰
I have a few Peperomia that are just falling apart all of a sudden (one is an Orba Astrid). I think they’re staying wet too long so I moved them closer to the brightest windows. I’m tempted to chop them and root them in Pon and see if that’s better.
It’s a hard balance of giving them enough light in the winter so they dry out and don’t rot… and keeping them warm enough so they don’t rot 😂😂
I’d love to hear how you get on with Peperomia in pon as I’ve never tried it but I am tempted to try it soon! Thank you for watching 🥰🌿
@@Amysgreenishthumb well I chopped them and stuck the cuttings in perlite in a glass jar. I’m sure at least some of them will survive and root and I’ll pot them in Pon next. I left the butt cuts in soil so they’ve got 2 chances. If this doesn’t work I’ll just focus on the Peperomia that are thriving in my house!
My ludisia discolour just slowly rotted away ! Gutted as I loved it but it’s put me off trying another ! Sorry but don’t know what I did wrong either ? 🤔🌿😩
From reading other comments I think it’s a common problem! Such a shame as it’s a really pretty plant but it’s put me off too! Thank you for watching 🥰🌿
