Hey I've fished that area a bunch of times! We have an empty lot on Pine Island for retirement winters. Great video!! I don't think they get too many permit there on the inside. Beautiful catch. We usually do well on snook in that area tossing spooks way under the mangroves. Keep at it. This is better than anything on TV!
John, we will be neighbors. The wife and I are going to be moving to Matlacha / Cape Coral area at some point soon. The only question is how soon to abandon the northeast/striper fishing to head to FL every winter? As much as I love the bass run the fishing you get in that pine island area may draw me down as soon as the fluke season ends. ** there are plenty of largemouth spots also not too far from there.
If you end up down there...you will love your new opportunities. The “creek” Fishing alone will be worth the price of admission. I wailed on my first tarpon in the equivalent of the Peconic River the other day...and I’m totally hooked.
yeah I was scouting out the area. So many little creeks like you point out winding in and out of the mangroves. Especially up by Matlacha. Between the kayak and a small flats boat I think I will become everyone's new best friend. Every youtuber will want to collaborate LOL
Yeah - that's the problem I want to have - stay for bass or head to Pine Island. I know I'll stay for bass. Our lot is on the south end of the island in St James City.
Aloha Elias, that's my kid sis' backyard you're fishing. She moved to Cape Coral 20 years ago, and now she is retired and owns her own home something I could not afford to do here. That's the bridge that connects Sanibel to Captiva. I hope you get to fish Pine Island Sound. Too bad you're a tad early for the Boca Grande Tarpon run, would be fun to see you go on a "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" Boca Grande style on your Compass. A day on Lake Okeechobee for giant Florida Largemouths would be fun if you had the time. At least you have an excuse to come back.
Like anywhere, Sanibel can be good and can be very hard. I live 10-15 miles away and Sanibel was my primary stomping ground until the hurricane wiped it out. By FAR, the east coast is sooo much easier. We get such a varied tide w the gulf it's hard to figure. Took me years to figure out consistency here as most fisherman are tight lipped. Good job.
Elias you are a shepherd with all of those sheep. The wife and I are looking for house on the water not far from there. This video is making me excited about what my future videos could be like when I get there. Hopefully someone local pointed you in the right direction. I scouted out that whole area and have a lot mapped out already. That current rips through the bridge you were fishing near when you caught the permit. It is amazing at how many species you can catch on a shrimp in FL.
That was an excellent video and you kept me interested the whole time. Very cool. Glad you enjoyed our beach house and experienced Sanibel island. You did really well even though it was after our first real cold weather for our area that shocked the fish a bit. Summer fishing is like no other. Largest congregation of snook, tarpon and many other species that spawn right there. You can literally just wait right at the waterline for hungry schools of snook and tarpon to pass every few minutes. Its magical. Talk to you later.
Nice Permit. Nice Trout. Watching you handle that trout reminds me of the Snapper that clamped down on the skin between my thumb and index finger yesterdday..Had to stick hand and fish into the water to get him to let go. he still gave it a final tug.
Great video and like all the different species. I fished it quite a bit when I lived down there. My office was in Tampa and I'd stop there to fish on my way back to Ft. Laud. I also, got my first hole-in-one on the course at Captiva.
Very nice. We were in Sanibel 4 years back and caught some nice fish as well. Those catfish are nasty, I was not about to touch it either. We are headed to Captiva in the near future and plan to fish it up! Tight lines Elias.
Great fishing man. Coincidentally I fished this exact area exactly 1 year ago, although I was limited to shore fishing and my home waters are LIS as well. The bridge you launched from is actually a great spot for Snook! And I think you'd be fine in Southwest Florida with just some light tackle, jigheads and shrimp. P.S. it's unorthodox, but I caught some trophy sheepshead just sight fishing rocks, since the water is so amazingly clear compared to up here!
Wow, that's what I call a mixed bag. Awesome fishing. Meanwhile I'm up here fishing streams for trout, freezing my ass off, catching nothing lol. I'd move to Florida but I'd miss my blackfish too much!
My 12 year old son and I keep rewatching this video. That's some great fishing. We're going to be there at the end of July. What weight leader would you recommend? TIA
Great video Elias, I used to go to sanibel every summer with my dad to go fishing. We would bond over the quality and quantity the island had to offer. I think the best we did in one trip was a 8 pound red and 4-5 pound trout by me and my dad landed a nice 10 pound snook he was playing with under a dock for some time lmaoo he wound up breaking off on a very nice tarpon as well. We stopped going as more and more tourists flocked to sanibel and captiva every year. How was it when you went?
Hey Elias, Eli I guess I didn't realize you were this far down you come. This should be a cool vid. So, I see I've already watched this so one of the good things about being old, I can rewatch stuff and think it's new hahaha...
Looks like your trip to Florida is working out well for you Elias. Do I sense possible relocation in the future? The area sure seems to agree with you. Great series of video's too!!
Shoulda gone up to both Blind Pass and Redfish Pass also all along the Sanibel Causeway bridge area and theres always the whole Ding Darling area too! You missed some of the best areas of Sanibel bro!😎. Write those areas down for next time.
You should hit up the 10k islands, they have a boat that takes kayaks out to the outer islands and then picks you up... you would kill it in that area!!
Can you please elaborate on your reaction to catching the catfish? What did you mean that you did not want any part of it? Why did you not want to bring it aboard? Is it venomous? Spikes?
damn brotha nice video i wish i new you were going to be in my city. i woud have totally tagged along and its never that gloomy here maybe once or twice a year
Tampa has been the most productive, followed by Sanibel, east coast was a total bust for me because I couldn’t get out front. The inshore was really tough.
EliasVFishing I promised myself that I would invest in a bait cast for bottom fishing this year. Saw this guy next to me on a party boat with one and it seems less strenuous than my lever drag. Looking for a rod to pair with a Tranx 300
Like your catch & cook videos more. Nice one catching fish though. Think you should keep the mustache & loose the beard, would look cleaner guy. Thanks.

John Skinner Fishing Definitely an awesome video. But have you even seen 'The Alienist' yet? Lol.

That waa quality. Got me through 15 min of traffic
10 Species!!! Now we are talking, brother!!!

Worked at Tween Waters Inn for a summer on Captiva and had a blast especially the snook fishing...

The red grouper makes it 11 species actually
Snook, oh dang, ha. Those sheephead make the best fish chowder.
Nice Permit. Nice Trout. Watching you handle that trout reminds me of the Snapper that clamped down on the skin between my thumb and index finger yesterdday..Had to stick hand and fish into the water to get him to let go. he still gave it a final tug.
Glad to hear sanibel island has some nice fish. Headed down to fort myers in march looking to check out sanibel while im there
My pb snook and red were both caught at that pass where you caught the permit
Blind pass NEVER fails me hahaha
BrozMan31 this. So much life running through the pass all day long.
Best spot I’ve ever fished
Caught a 14 in Sheepshead there today
Ft myers is my home town, well actually cape coral great fishing i use to work on sanibel island beautiful place great catch
Sanibel! Ahhhh the shells...
Very good Sanibel fishing
Great video and like all the different species. I fished it quite a bit when I lived down there. My office was in Tampa and I'd stop there to fish on my way back to Ft. Laud. I also, got my first hole-in-one on the course at Captiva.
,At least you didn't mistake it for a Pompano like most Jack leg tourists would!!!! 😎 Thanks for knowing your fish and the regulations👍👍😎
I have a video fishing this same area. Love the blind pass/Sanibel/captiva area. It's such good fishing!
I love sanibel and captiva!!
Thats Florida fishing baby!!
Very nice. We were in Sanibel 4 years back and caught some nice fish as well. Those catfish are nasty, I was not about to touch it either. We are headed to Captiva in the near future and plan to fish it up!
Tight lines Elias.
Nice work...flats slam and a trash can slam in the same video! Ding Darling Refuge has good snook fishing. Planning a paddle trip there?
Outstanding! 👏
What a blast !
Good video man! Tight lines ;)
Really enjoyed your video. Thanks for taking the effort.
Amazing !love the multi species vid man !!!!

On your shrimp, are you using fresh shields tails or frozen shrimp tails.
Awesome island! Great fishing trip! 😊 🎣
Wow, that's what I call a mixed bag. Awesome fishing. Meanwhile I'm up here fishing streams for trout, freezing my ass off, catching nothing lol. I'd move to Florida but I'd miss my blackfish too much!
Ny Jeep Adventurer nah not me lol. I love my blackfish. I would miss ice fishing too.

Congrats on 100K
Nice sheephead
I need to find areas like that where I live South Texas, I hope to yak fish the Fl area soon. Great Video.
Dang almost 100k subscribers! Good stuff
11. First grouper was a red... great video!!
Hey brother great stuff , wondering what knot do you tie main /leader
That was impressive. Completely unrelated question... Why do you have Sauron's eye tattooed on your arm? I've often wondered.
Hey Elias, Eli I guess I didn't realize you were this far down you come. This should be a cool vid. So, I see I've already watched this so one of the good things about being old, I can rewatch stuff and think it's new hahaha...

Loved my time inshore fishing on the west coast for sure. I’ll be back next winter for sure!

How are you liking the hobie compass? Looks like you like the outback better?
Where do you launch from in sanibel? We really wanna head over there but not sure where to launch
do you know kory and is he ok korys fishing adventures live right by you nice video
Great video!!
Any tips for brackish water canals fishing during the middle of summer (July) in Tampa ?
What type of lures or bait
Can you please elaborate on your reaction to catching the catfish? What did you mean that you did not want any part of it? Why did you not want to bring it aboard? Is it venomous? Spikes?
Zlee11 they are considered trash fish, they just have sharp spikes but are not venomous like a sting ray, ive caught many cats st blindpass
Yep...trash fish. If you cast out any bait that sits on the bottom you are guaranteed to catch them before anything else you WANT to catch lol.
And a red grouper, the first one you caught
Many cool species you caught :)
Awesome video son like always.
Do a mako or sthresher shark catch and cook this summer
What's the red and white lure you show at the beginning?
That's my kind of fishin there bro 👊
Hard head catfish catch and cook?
Ethan Hampton thats how you die 😂
Starting look like The Wooded Beardsman LOLL
Gotta target bonefish and tarpon man!
Elias, did you have issues with 12lb leader being too light for the snook?
Get Tight Fishing he would if he caught a decent size one. I've had 26 inch snook cut my 30lb braid before.
damn brotha nice video i wish i new you were going to be in my city. i woud have totally tagged along and its never that gloomy here maybe once or twice a year
pound for pund the best fighters those pompano's?
About time
That last was a blue runner, not a jack crevalle
BTW did you change up from Kast King to Diawa?
Yeah I’m no longer working with KastKing
Man the way things are going now this place is gonna be messed up like Fort Myers Beach, the plan they want to do stuff with the Sanibel Causeway now.
Since your down in Florida you should hook up with zoffinger and make an awesome!
So...overall thus far- How did Sanibel rank on your FlorIda adventure? Which has produced best fishing?
Tampa has been the most productive, followed by Sanibel, east coast was a total bust for me because I couldn’t get out front. The inshore was really tough.
EliasVFishing are you still in Sanibel? Tried the causeway and the lighthouse area; and Captiva?
How can I get in touch with Elias?
Wonder what caused ur video to get demonetized
Red
What size epoxy were you using?
5/8 oz
Dang sick video. Unfortunately demonetization is bugging you again
SUP ELIAS
What was the fish at 4:20 that he "refused"?
Saltwater cats
Them sheepies would go in my cooler . DELICIOUS
I’m not a fan of eating Jack Crevalle. Too oily and fishy tasting. But Redfish and snook in season are delicious!
With the red grouper that would be 11
Would u use that dark matter rod to black fish? Looks super flimsy but I hear they won’t break
For the togging I do, yes. Anything over 3/4 oz I wouldn’t be though. It’s great for weakfish and a lot of finesse jigging
EliasVFishing thanks a lot. Have a great time!
EliasVFishing I promised myself that I would invest in a bait cast for bottom fishing this year. Saw this guy next to me on a party boat with one and it seems less strenuous than my lever drag. Looking for a rod to pair with a Tranx 300
Bubba Gump Shrimp
Like your catch & cook videos more. Nice one catching fish though. Think you should keep the mustache & loose the beard, would look cleaner guy. Thanks.
Meanwhile in Florida..
