Glad you went to Whitney's best bait shop for us Locals.
Best shop around!
So true
Love that place
If you are a Sanibel local you just so happen to live in my most favorite spot in the world to visit and fish. I have traveled all over the world and seen some extravagant places but for me none of those places compare to Sanibel and Captiva Island. It is truly a special place and you are a very lucky person to call it home. I’ll take the Ding Darling and the inshore fishing and the surrounding nature preserve or Boca Grande just up the road over all the big cities I’ve ever traveled to. I e caught more tarpon around Sanibel and Captiva than I have Boca which is surprising. I will say the water at Boca is stunning though but the river flowing into the sound of Sanibel is the only reason the water isn’t a turquoise bluish color like Boca but I believe the nutrients coming from the river gives Sanibel a better fishery.
Area reminds me of the bridge in green cove springs on the st John's. Nice looking area you're fishing my friend. Nice!
There are actually two islands: Sanibel and Captiva, so Blind Pass doesn't split Sanibel. Great video been fishing here since I was a kid
Blind Pass right there boy's the side he's fishing on used to be the Bay but a hurricane made the Bay and the Gulf of Mexico connect that place is crazy for fishing every kinda fish you can find in there that's saltwater minus a few. A lot of different Grouper, Snook, Tarpon, Spotted Sea Trout, Mackerel, Sharks, Redfish, Black Drum, Snapper, ect... The prices went up to go out there plus it costs money to park by the hour unless you know of a secret some of us know. It's a long drive from Fort Myers Beach just as bad coming from North Fort Myers or Cape Coral.
Very nice job on scouting out the locations. Glad you had fun in our local waters. Loosen the drag just a tad and tip up. Sometimes I use a slightly heavier floro-carbon leader. Keep checking for frays with those snook. Nice video, thanks!
Thanks for the advice, will definitely beef up the floro leader next time I visit as I lost a few to the full plate
I wpuld also like to add that theres another reason that changing the leader each time you get a fray is crucial not just because of it could break off but also because fish can see the fray in the leader as well (especially tarpon) and it will deter them from hiting
Good work
Very nice 10/10 will fish with this handsome gentleman
Awesome video. Blind Pass is great if you're prepared for that current ripping through. You can drag just a few split shot above a shrimp or jig a shrimp like you did at little carlos pass and do well there.
FYI that fish at 15:06 was a Mojarra and the last one at 16:43 was a small jack crevalle.
Great job!! 👍
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the fish Identification and tips for next time!
This video is from the Causeway not Blind Pass.
My bad, the first video was from the Causeway.
I am from Boston as well, I went down there a couple of times but haven’t fish there yet. Your video inspired me to bring my fishing pole there next time to fish. Great video!
Thanks for the comment! Best of luck fishing down there!
Heading out that way to fish this weekend.
Man nice snook....
I've been fishing all my life in florida hoping to catch one that size.... way to go..
Tight lines
Thanks for the comment! Best of luck fishing down there,
Tight lines
Hey do you happen to know any good spots by Bradenton?
Just as a heads up the water flowing from thru blind pass is water from the gulf or pine island sound. =)
Careful when holding those snook, they have very sharp gill plates that can cut you very badly if they catch you the right way. Awesome video, glad yall got to enjoy the awesome waters of fort myers!
Good to know! I think I lost a few from them snapping my line with their sharp plates
@@catchingzzzsoutdoors1872 if you weren't using leader, that could be why too. snook have very small sharp teeth that fray the braided line and can cut through it
I am going to Fort Myers for a vacation and would like to know tips and tricks as well as what to use. I will be fishing on the fort Myers beach and would like to know what to use and what to go for, as well as what is good eating. If anyone has tips for me that would be great, thanks!
Im sure you know now but the lizard fish are good bait for snook
We have a second home on Sanibel that’s an 8 mn drive to Blind Pass. Too many people fish there now. It’s not even worth going to on the weekends. It’s a shame. It used to be a great spot.
You should try lovers key bridge it’s great for shrimp bait it’s about a mile down the road at the beach area.
Good to know!
Lizard fish are great Snook bait.
When fishing bridges concentrate on the shadow line on the side the tide is coming from. The big snook hide in the shadow facing the incoming tide so they can snap up any bait that comes floating in. And remember where the shadow is on the surface of the water is different from where it is on the bottom where the fish are!
Good to know👍🏽
Great info. Going there next week and looking forward to it. I’m from Panama City. Looking forward to catching some snook
@14:25 loosen that drag a quarter to half turn you would've had em
Have you even caught a 40 bro?
I've fished there alot
What pole did you use?
Great vid. The small fish at the end was a jack not a pompano. The jacks are very fun to catch and they get very big. I live here in Cape Coral next time you come bring some top water lures for some good explosive fun.
Great stuff! Thanks for the comment, will do!
gotta come prepared. there are big ones in there.
It doesn’t look the same anymore 😢 hurricane Ean totaled our beaches 2022
Throwing back a lizard fish? Best bait out there for big snook... snook candy ... free line them with a big circle hook ... they are money!
Good to know for next time👍🏽
I’m a massive stripped bass fan and I go to rock port and danvers
I know you mean well but try to not drag the dish all.ovwe the sand and rocks extras not to remove there protective slime.some even go to far as to use a rag thanks
We use to jump off new pass
Nice video, what weight jig do you use?
I've fished that bridge many times
Bite the fan tail off the shrimp next time. Then hook the shrimp on just like you did ( except string it through the opening that is made- like a gulp/other plastic lure)
Keep up the good work but this spring you gota do a tog video, pls.
That is for sure on our to-do list for 2021! Thanks for the suggestion
That 3rd to last fish is a Mojarra. With a large set up at blind you could have caught a 40” snook with that as bait
🧢
Last fish near the Sanibel causeway was a Jack.
Thanks for the fish ID!
Put my boat in by that bridge this May, lots of dolphins around
blind pass is best on slack and incoming tide
What do you use to transport your rods/reels on the flights?
I usually have my reel in a protective bag in my carry on backpack, then have to bring the rod as a checked item.
The last little fish was a Jack carvell
What’s a good size reel n braided line pounds for that
I was using a 4500 penn slammer lll with 20lb braid and a 30lb fluorocarbon leader.
you really need a heavier triple fish leader when snook fishing to prevent getting broken off
I live there hahah fish blind pass everyday
about 5 weeks ago I was on a boat and was there and catched a real big snook
30lb flouro is the lightest id ever go for snook and even then a 28"+ snook could break through that
Next time get a kayak and hit mangrove lines. I live right on Estero bay about a mile up from that bridge
Good to know! Next time I will have to use a kayak to get access to more spots
what size is that slammer ?
Slammer lll 4500
I always hated people hanging fish by their mouth. I have read articles about the bone structure being fragile and im sure many fish are damaged by hanging them by their jaw bones
I agree
Any time you can fish a moving tide you will do way WAY BETTER
Great to know!
Give the young lady some instructions. Keep the tip of the pole high in the air when there's a fish on,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,😎
What is the weight of your jig?
1 oz jig
That place gives me the willys if the crocodiles ever got smart they could pick people off at blind pass
Red tide has killed fishing
you should hit the east coast next time! better water
Dude it’s live shrimp you don’t need a retrieval just throw it out there they’ll find it
It would be much better if you would pick those snook up from in the water with wet hands rather than dragging them thru the rough sand stripping off al, their protective slim and further with your dry hands. If your gonna do C&R WHT not do it correctly so the fish have the best chance. Ripping their slim off is equiveto stripping a person of their immune system and making them build I back up again. All it takes is 2 seconds difference to do it correctly.
Everytime I'm at blind pass there atleast 1000 people
FWC the man in black
Not a pompano it’s a jack
Great video, BUT please learn not to drag the fish in the sand, it removes protective coating from scales and also can harm the gills.
Dinner bro… nooooooo
Loosen your drag
Learn to tie leader to mainline...having a swival makes ya look like a tourist lol but hey your catching fish so who cares really but just saying...the only time a swival should be used is when throwing a spoon
Or using wire bud
@@Hams54 agreed a swival should be used with wire as well
The forte fish looks like a lizard blenny probably some irresponsable pet owner
You're terrible at taking out the hook 🤯
Please quit dragging our snook through the sand
Too much yap'in
Dude loosen you’re drag omg! It’s so cringe to watch that 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
got ur girl driving you, big L
