    I have no feeling from the waist down, it comes and goes. I have weakness in my feet and ankles. It gets worse when I reach up and I have severe pain down both of my legs. I need a cane to walk, it came on suddenly at age 50. My family told me "it's all in your head" and didn't take it seriously. Now it's ten years later and nothing has helped. this is a very debilitating condition. Also, when it started I weighed 139 lbs, am 5'4" tall and female. I also have a buzzing vibrations going down my legs. Sometimes the numbness gets so bad my whole body feels numb. I was checked for M.S. with a brain MRI it was negative. Had multiple MRI's on my back the diagnosis was spinal stenosis, radiculopathy, myelopathy. It totally messed up my life. My family is fed up with me. Doctors do not take me seriously.

  • @uelude
    @uelude 3 года назад

    Can this in EARLY stages be caused by a preliminary type of (pre) calcification which may be reversed with supplementation? I was reading about something that can reverse this calcification possibly making the preliminary spine calcification (or something) more maleable.
    It would be wonderful to know what that was. I know K2 can prevent calcification via enzymatic responses but I'm sure there was another thing to add to the diet that can help trigger the body to have a more "correctable" spine, possible by triggering and helping the bodies natural ability to counteract the impingement

    Hey guys, important question. I'm a healthy 23 year old male and was recently diagnosed with spinal stenosis. I've had sciatica since I was 19 and recently it's gotten to the point where it's debilitating, which is why I finally pushed to get a diagnosis. In your best guess, what would cause this in someone of my age, and why?

  • @kirstymacfarlane1620
    @kirstymacfarlane1620 5 лет назад +10

    I think you guys are great but I can't believe that you said spinal stenosis isn't debilitating. I wish! Diagnosed at 38 and my condition isn't improving despite doing your exercises and practicing regular yoga, I've now added in a couple of sessions of pilates a week. Believe me it's been debilitating on my life, I've gone from someone who would get up at 7,walk my 2 German shepherds for a good 2 hours, do housework, have a shower, get ready and then go to work, now I can't walk 1 German shepherd around the block. So I'm sorry guys but it is debilitating and those who haven't been affected like that, then they're really lucky because it changed my life for the worse.

    • @kirstymacfarlane1620
      @kirstymacfarlane1620 5 лет назад +1

      @@amberleah2008 I can totally relate. I'm surprised at these guys saying that spinal stenosis is nothing to worry about, maybe for a lucky few but from what I've learned is that it doesn't get better. You can absolutely help your symptoms, yoga is my go to for pain relief along with morphine, tramadol, co-codamol, the list goes on. I have bulging discs and retrolisthesis as well as spinal stenosis all in the lumbar region so I need to be extra careful and do exercises for both conditions. My neck is buggered as well, don't know about the thoracic! I was lucky because my yoga teacher was a retired physio who has stopped teaching. So I'm planning on doing my yoga teacher training and take over from her. I want to show people that you can do yoga regardless of physical abilities, age, size etc. Amber Karnes is an amazing human being and I'm hoping that I'll be able to do her courses online when I get qualified. I live in Scotland and she's in America. She does ytt specifically for teaching yoga to those who basically think they can't because they're not 6 feet tall, willowy and able to put their legs behind their head! Sorry about the long post but it's good to know there's others out there who feel the same. I'm really disappointed in the blaze approach Bob and Brad have to spinal stenosis. Maybe it isn't a big deal for someone in their 70s but for me it completely changed my life and not for the better. I used to walk my 3 German shepherds every day for at least an hour and a half, I have one now and I can walk her round the block once in a blue moon. Again sorry, but this has annoyed me more than it probably should! Find a good yoga or pilates teacher, let them know what you have and how bad you're condition is and I guarantee you that you will have pain relief. It's only a couple of hours relief for me but it's so nice to get it. I wish you the best of health because it's really tough but give the yoga/pilates a go and see how you get on. You can even try videos on here, that's how I got started. Search for yoga for spinal stenosis or chair yoga. I really hope this helps you xx

      Walking is the worst, and housework. I have to sit every few minutes. Also, I tore my ACL on it left knee (only attached by two fibers, which I'm pretty sure I tore off completely by now, and they won't do survey due to it age and weight), which makes the pain even worse, because I have a weak leg. It's debilitating. It's counter-productive to trying to get healthy when it's hard to walk. 😣

    • @kirstymacfarlane1620
      @kirstymacfarlane1620 5 лет назад +1

      @@samanthabamantha5816 I know, but once you accept what's happening in your body and listen to it, it does get easier. So what if it takes 2 hours to clean the bathroom, that's life. Your knee pain must be torture, breathing techniques for relaxation I can't recommend that enough because if you learn yogic breathing then that's you practicing yoga. Whatever you try, do it a bit at a time. You can do yoga on a chair, your sofa, your bed and of course on a mat. Have a good look on RUclips for videos. I'd recommend for yourself, yoga with Adrienne, sleepy Santosha, yoga with Melissa and chriska yoga. They all do great gentle practices, Rachel on sleepy Santosha has a disability, so she's especially good. They all are, I hope you find something that works for you. I'm doing my yoga teacher training next January because there's nobody to cater for those who think they can't practice and the yoga community desperately needs people like myself. I was lucky, my teacher was a retired physio and she was wonderful. I just hope I can bring to people what she brought to me. Good luck hun, ever need a chat just leave a comment and I'm happy to help you if I can xxx

      @@lrddnaplayerdevelopment9573 That sounds awful. At least you are trying PT. All I'm saying is, go to different types of doctors (not just surgeons) and exhaust all efforts before you consider surgery. It is not the cure-all some people think it is, but it may be right for you. That is for you to determine, no one else. If you've tried everything and it is very much affecting your quality of life, and it sounds like it is, THEN consider surgery. And I would get the least invasive surgery possible. Do a lot of research about the surgeon and what type of surgery they suggest, and get a few different opinions. I wish you the best and I hope your pain eases.

    I have been subscribed for a long time but after this video I am unsubscribing. I don't know how I haven't already watched this video tbh, I watch them all I thought. I have had severe back pain since my early 20s but it wasn't until my mid 40s that I had MRIs done, that showed I have severe spinal stenosis in my cervical and lumbar spine. I had to give up a six figure salary job at 47 due to unmanageable pain levels. In my early 60s now and rarely leave the house due to chronic severe pain. How on Earth you can state that this condition is not debilitating and not a major problem is beyond me. Every doctor I have seen since my diagnosis has agreed that the pain from SS can be totally debilitating and I think my consultants and neurologists know a bit more than you two. To say I am disgusted is an under statement!

    I'm so upset with this video. To say this is no big deal is a insult to people living with this. There are days I can hardly walk. I sleep in a recliner now because I can't lay in bed with my husband. There are days I can not bend down at all. I go to pain management. I take strong meds get injections in my back yet still in pain. Some days better then others but all ways in pain. Pain wakes me up in the middle of the night. Last night I was up all night in pain. Can't go out some days because I can't lift my leg to get in the car. Forget about standing long periods of time even when leaning on something. To be told by your Dr. if you fall you can be paralyzed. Do you know how scary that feels? Especially on days that your gait is off. The thoughts of if I don't wake up tomorrow it would be okay. So for you to say spinal stenosis is no big deal is insensitive and insulting! You have no idea the pain some of us are in! Every one's pain is not the same for you to make such a broad statement. Shame on you .
