I went to the Chopard Boutique in Sydney to look at one in person...Very stunning piece, a breath of fresh air amongst all the hype watches.
What sort of discount could you get at the Sydney store? Did they offer you a deal? I might visit the store.
@@almac9203 Before the store was taken back by Chopard from its franchisee you could have received 20%. I would definitely say zero discounting now, you could try your luck regardless.
"Explodes from the center like a blue metallic vortex."
Tim, you're a horollogical treasure.
Seems like an underrated watch.
Kind of, if they had used Chopard’s micro rotor movement I would take this even before your Octo. As is.. I would go Octo all the way
@@andresfg6788 as investment the alpine eagle much better . Design wise i like the classi look better as well
@@watchmanplain5780 Don't agree in either point
I would like to see a versus review for this vs the Girard Perregaux Laureato
Please!
I'm at this exact crossroads
GP is not as interesting as the Chopard. But the GP is now a waitlist watch.
That would be a really good comparison. Both of these are on my radar and I can’t decide which one I prefer.
It looks absolutely stunning in person.
Agreed I just got mine 2 days go 36mm loving it I own the 35mm santos wssa0029 love smaller dials I have a 6.5inch wrist
I agree to some comments here. Chopard is highly underrated. This is said about many other brands but they truly are. I bought a L.U.C recently and the quality is mindblowing considering the price you can get them. They are masters of details from the box to the watch down to their beautiful straps and buckles. You can really see the quality if you're an experienced watch collector. Especially the absence of industrial signings and markings is very charming. No unnecessary numbers or stuff like this. Just the information you want to see on a true luxury watch. I really like this cleaniness and attention to detail!
This is quite clearly “inspired” by much more esteemed watch designs. So Chopard’s rating seems about fair.
Very cool! I’d like to see lavender, teal, and deep rusty orange versions of that dial.
Reminds me of the original VC Overseas. Pretty sharp and a good way to insure that you never run into anyone wearing the same watch.
Tim is perhaps the most accomplished speaker of English in the world. Incredible fluency.
The bracelet reminds me of the 1st gen Overseas.
I don’t like this type of date, I prefer at 3 or 6.
Fits your wrist perfectly!
Great review, thank you Tim. Watch is beautiful, Chopard seems underrated.
The bracelet is beautiful but the the dial is absolutely hypnotic. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it in the jewelry store.
Have you seen Audemars Royal Oak? This one is quite clearly plagiarized.
That is a value for money piece and looks amazing on the wrist... 41mm though... on an 8" wrist maybe not... the bracelet may make it work though.
I've got 8in wrists, and while I haven't tried this model specifically, I have tried (and owned) several 40-42mm watches, and they can fit quite well (although it helps if it wears a bit on the larger side).
That said, I do consider 38-39mm a personal lower limit, unless it's got particularly oversized lugs and/or bracelet.
Chopard is so underrated. Their high horology pieces are as amazing as any Lange or Patek for a fraction of the price.
One Rolex fan boy you tuber called them a fashion watch company until it was pointed out that Chopard started out as a movement manufacture round about 1860, then got into jewellery when they started making their own watches.
@@garyboyle695 This is the trouble, some Rolex/Omega/AP obsessives and similar are so absorbed into the brands of their desires they barely see the surface and legacy of other highly reputable brands. They often mistake famous watch houses like Chopard and Cartier for fashion houses and/or jewellers first and foremost like Prada, Gucci or worse, they have no idea 😂
Better than the Lauerato or Polo
I have this piece and LOVE IT

Thanks in advance!
I just got mine two days ago in 36mm blue dial trust me this watch looks better than my Ap ro 41 blue dial loving the size they hug my wrist well 6.5inch wrist
I want one
Like 36-!mm version much better , simply , do not like any watch bigger than 38-mm, if at all.
Wish it had their L.U.C. movement in it...
Please Advice me This watch Vs Parmigiani Tonda GT, Both are very similar price, both are getting more and more attention lately.. Which one will be better investment watch for long term? Thanks
I got this 2days ago 36mm am happy with the size I have a 6.5inch wrist I own the santos 35mm trust me it's lovely with these sizes
Thank you tim. Good watch ,good historie, good grand father ,father and son made this watch togehter, good price ,good blue dial ,good bracelet and inhouse movement ,and new steel a223.
I don't care how many people call it a butthole dial, I think it looks stunning
How many people call it a butthole dial?
@@justthepip don't care, but they do have a point when it comes to the red dial
that finishing is amazing
Love this dial! I find it more beautiful than both a Nautilus and a Royal Oak dial.
wish it didn't have a date although the implementation is not bad at all
Look at Chopard going all Grand Seiko on that dial
Amazing. I think it’s stunning
Better than a Nautilus
Cool dial, cool bracelet, cool finishing. Could be slimmer.
It is only 9,5mm thick and sits even flatter on the wrist 🔥
Date wheel ruining the dial again..
Beautiful but an obvious mush mash of a Royal Oak and Nautilus.
Looks like a cross of a Royal Oak and iwc ingenieur
@watchboxreviews how does this compare with the Breguet Marine? How much is hand finished and how much is machine? Is the rotor gold? Tungsten? Other?
Bracelet looks great however does it have leather strap option available? Aftermarket, chopard does not offer
All this for only $2k more than WB has the most bland OP listed for. No brainer.
Crash landing on you koreanske neltfix serie hero had chopard alpine eagle last they on the alpine i swiss
Are the markers and handset made of white gold or stainless steel?
Movement finishing too industrial for the price.
It's a sports watch for god's sake, it should be industrial. Want fancy finishing, buy a dress watch. The finishing is nicely understated and at least you can see it.
@@garyboyle695 tell me you own one without telling me you own one.
Very cool in many ways.
Movement finishing leaves much to be desired unfortunately.
at this price point yeah, definitely
I agree. I bought a Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control back when it was released which has the same movement. It was fine because the watch costs half of the Alpine Eagle.
If this was 38 or 39mm….I’m a buyer!
Actually I Personally feel That it wears like a 39mm. Try it on!
I messured the bezel diameter with 39,4mm, but ofc the flanks do extend a Little Bit.
@@Man00ta I had the same feeling when I tried it on. The 15500 wears a lot larger IMO.
Imagine if Tim reviewed Escorts 😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂
😂🤣😅…. SO TRUE! Can you imagine?!
damnn that is purty
This looks so damn good
Shame they cheap out on the movement finishing
It's a sports watch, what did you expect? Guess you'll never buy a Rolex then!
It's like a Nautilus and RO in one with a grand seiko level dial
19,000 USD for this is way too expensive. Royal Oak from AP will be a bit higher and is a far more stylish and elegant piece.
You will never pay that much in a boutique. I was offered it for way less.
I can't tell if I like it or if it looks like an $80 Fossil watch. Very strange watch
In what way does it look like an £80 fossil watch?
This guy don’t deserve to wear a watch brand above seiko … just go wear watches from diesel and fossil it will fit you perfectly !!
Just an attention grabbing comment lacking any discernment at all.
Hublot is an expensive RO hommage, This is a hublot& *overseas 1th generation mix hommage….
It's a modern remake of one of their earlier watches that was around well before Hublot so I guess the Hublot was the copy.
I’m not a Chopard hater, I’d love a Lunar One someday, but someone commented it looks like an industrial toilet flushing and now I can’t unsee it
