This movie has an another level of emotion. I've watched this movie 5 times and cried harder each time. It's a very beautiful movie everyone should watch atleast once in their life
Just finished it.... It hits different...I can't stop my tears 😭 I will never ever watch it again never 😢 I will recommend it to others n make em cry...who say anime is only cartoon n they r meant for children...😭
As a person who's watched all three, I'd say let's not compare them with each other, for each one is phenomenal in its own way. I want to eat your pancreas is quite simple but emotional. Your name has a very unique (can say out of a world) storyline that wasn't ready for it's time...and same goes for Maquia as well, a story with amazing visuals that can anyone, like anyone cry cause it's so good!❤
I put Silent Voice on a high rank tier with Maquia following right behind, Your Name and Pancreas dont come close like at all. The latter mentioned unfortunately is inflicted with regular teenage lives while Silent Voice touches way deeper in that it can reach a wider audience. Whats unique about Maquia is also how the fantasy aspect is on the background yet the emotional and relationship bond is the main focus. The fact that the setting is rich in lore with potential to it, they could somehow make a mother son relationship work. It reminds of the movie The boy and the beast, recommended it as well.
It is the movie with one of the greatest potentials i've ever seen, definitely recommended watching, but my only probably was how there are so many moments where a scene just cuts and we get a big skip in events and time and suddenly something else starts happening, to the point it became confusing to even properly understand it. They should have given it more run-time and it would have come out as probably one of the greatest movies ever, sadly that wasn't the case. Still i would recommend watching it, its pretty good.
I feel like all those sudden timeskip were the way the movie used to tell how short a human life is. Even irl, we always feel like with just a blink of an eye, a year has passed. Not letting us process what just happened
@@tristanings6000 that fits on a thematic PoV and also fits when nothing too special in particular is going on, such timeskips also existed and i was fine with them, the problem were the time skips when something *essential to the plot* is going on and instead of getting to see the sequence we just skip ahead, it breaks immersion imo.
@@Blueberry173. I totally agree. Maquia and Erial had their first fight, he run off, she found him and after a brief talk they laughed it off. That was like a grounded moment, sealing their mother-son relationship but then there comes a timeskip and suddenly he is angry because he wants her so bad and assaults her... excuse me, what? 😐 And this was only kind of foreshadowed when Maquia talked with Lang. I would have preferred a scene showing Erial growing up and displaying these emotions and struggles.
I didnt have an issue with that, I had expected it actually because I figured there would be no way the baby would stay a baby for the entire movie. I think what was way more jarring was the random traveler popping up in the most crucial moments with zero background or explanation of him until later we get a bit that his also from the same race as her. That and how there was potential fantasy lore but was put on the background, I would have liked to see more of the dragons and blood of the immortal
Also with the current hype of Freiren beyong journey ends. With the same aspect of someone with long life span outlived their loved one. I hope it led more people to find and watch this obscure masterpiece.
After watching this movie the second time today, the ending part made me cry so hard i couldn't even breathe through my nose because of how stuffed it was from my tears to this movie
this is one of the movies that I've watched when I was just discovering anime and I must say that it is also one of the anime movies that I will always recommend because it's just so beautiful yet heartbreaking.
Emotional journey? No, I've learned to live and to die over and over. Every time I watch this movie, I learn something new and something in me dies but in a good way. Highly recommend if you love something that will make you cry. DO NOT WATCH WHILE YOUR AT WORK, UNLESS YOU WANT PEOPLE TO ASK WHY YOUR CRYING
The elder of my two daughters is not bound to me by blood. This movie hit me so damn hard in every conceivable way. Was recommended it last night by someone I met in a game, and I can't wait to tell them how much I appreciate them recommending me something I could connect with so well.
Maquia is a beautiful story that touches how love and relationships are impacted by time. It is emotionally similar to Frieren: Beyond Journey's End which has gotten more positive response.
I watched this movie today 22 weeks pregnant… what a mistake. It was beautiful but I sobbed probably like 5 times in total. An emotional rollercoaster for sure. 😭❤️
Ready for maquia 2 that follows Ariel’s grandchild being a grandmother and her bad ass son who maquia tried to help without blowing her cover (since she had become a rich merchant that nobody ever sees in the city) then she will help the child. 😂
I love this movie but I just feel like the end doesn’t make sense??? He was like 20 and just had his daughter who is now possibly about 6-7 I’ll say. Why did Ariel age like 80 years and become a old man
It just skipped a lot. I get it was trying to capture that moment and also the part where Ariel’s little girl reminds maquia of him when he was younger but it kinda didn’t make sense but honestly the anime made me cry. The art was so beautiful and I loved it

Same. Words can't express how much I love this anime.
I dare say this movie is on the emotional level of A Silent Voice. Possibly even higher.
Of course ❤
Hell nah... a silent voice is on a different level...this is a great movie though...😊

And people keep saying that Kimi no nawa and I want to eat your pancreas is a wHoLe AnoThEr LevEl, until they watched this.
To be fair, those two are phenomenal and emotional films. But I agree, this movie takes it up -a notch- like 5 notches.
those movies are kinda the mainstream entry level tbh

I literally watched this movie week ago because it was free in my suggestions. Best movie ever. 100% recommend it.
