I became a fan of alternative music 30 years ago listening to amazing female-led bands like Lush, Curve and My Bloody Valentine. Birthday Massacre has picked up the torch and ran with it. I love them for it.
This is one of those bands that I just love their sound so much, I don't ever want them to change it to much, this is why all of their albums are perfect

Yeah, me too. I'm a DJ at a weekly goth night here in Cincinnati so I 'm around it all the time. As for Chibi. I've met her a couple times and she's super sweet and humble. A really kind soul. The rest of the band is very nice and approachable. They're all really good people.
The music of The Sky Will Turn makes me think of an Alice in Wonderland gothik nightmare, where I hurt breaking a colourful window of candle sugar of a house in the woods, I start bleeding, but my blood tastes of strawberry juice. Then I see some strawberries in the garden of the house, I eat one, but it tastes of blood.
The community around The Birthday Massacre is remarkably positive and articulate. A small but close-knit community of creative music-lovers.
I am just very thankful that they are still around and are still producing the same high calibur of music that I liked them for in the first place. I never imagined whenever I discovered them in 2006 that they would still be a thing in 2020. Most of the other artists I listened to from that time period are either long gone or far past their prime. They are probably one of the most consistent bands ever as far as the quality of their music goes.

It's so haunting! I love Chibi's cadence, and the thudding bassline, and the guitar accentuation at the end of the lines. And Chibi's writing is so poetic! First impressions, I'm getting themes of feeling trapped and putting on a brave face. Can't wait to hear it in the context of the full album! My favourite line is "if there's a full moon breaking, it's painting our faces" so evocative! And the artwork we've seen from Diamonds so far is so pretty! Great work TBM!

The reason her vocals changed is because she has had a vocal sickness for a long time now, it comes and goes but every album that is finished she needs to take a break.

Just heard this for the first time yesterday. This song is incredible, but I hated the rest of the CD. None of it was even close to being as good as this song.
This song (and album) is unbelievable. The haunting guitars, vocals verse, meaning. I hear every detail like the roto toms on "Run". This band just gets better and better -truly
I came across these guys by accident while on a deployment to the middle east, and we happened to find an area that had wi fi of all things. I've been a huuuuge fan ever since. I can't understand though, being from Michigan, how we never heard or hear them on the radio, it's not like these guys are a little known garage band or something. C'mon Detroit, get these guys on the radio!!!!

I'm like Alice. I fell down the rabbit hole and I'm glad I did. I've been listening to this band for about two years. It certainly sucked me in. The music is breathtaking and certainly out-of-this world. It makes me feel like I can soar across space-time observing all of those majestic-looking galaxies.
Been a big TBM fan many years and their sound is very unique, it actually does sound violet! 🙂 This album is amazing, made them first on my last.fm cause I have listened to it like thousand times, it's that good! Their music is a magical journey into a violet dreamworld, this album proves that.

This music to me, at almost 50 years on this planet, is the single biggest influence on almost everything I love at this point. How I work, play, fuck, train, ride, drive, relax, reminisce, all of it.
Back in the late 90s early 2000s I was big time into the Detroit Industrial/ Goth scene. I remember TBM being played at City Club. I was in a band at that time and had hoped to do some shows with TBM. It never happened and my band dispersed around 2005. We did some shows with VNV Nation, Covenant, Icon of Coil, Melotron, Das Ich, Clan of Xymox.... but I always wanted to do a show with TBM! I had heard they were really down to earth and good people. Anyway, it's 2020, I am 47 years old and many years removed from the music scene. I now work in the medical field. I rediscovered TBM a few years ago and was impressed with their consistently good material over the years and growth as musicians. Cheers to TBM! I'm happy to hear you are still making great music that a lot of people appreciate.

Literally, the, best album cover I've seen IMO. I'm not exaggerating, I listen to multiple albums a day from various artists so I've seen dozens. There's just something about this one that I can't put into words.
I agree! Tho Pins and Needles is my #1 of all time because the style was so delicate, and it was my favourite shade of purple. This one is a close second. Every element.. the lights from the houses, the roots, the hanging leaves, the RABBIT and its EYES

It astounds me that even to this day, TBM isn't as well known as I feel they should be. I've been listening to their music since 2005 when Violet came out and I've been a die-hard of their style ever since. I have yet to find another band that sounds even remotely like this.

Wow, I’m blown away by this new production. That guitar solo in the middle and end brought me back to Nothing and Nowhere... I cried of happiness when I heard it. And even though life and the world keeps changing, I can count on TBM to always remain the one consistently unchanged and immaculate artist to evoke the same feeling of nostalgia i had so many years ago. Im resistant to change so thank you TBM for retaining what works.

I love how no matter how long it's been I can know that the songs will be good when they are finally released. There isn't a single band I have listened to that I like/love every song besides TBM and that speaks volumes.

Made a playlist...realized all of their songs were the only ones on it 🤘😝🤘 I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with their music since I jumped aboard in 2008. Walking with strangers got me started and every song afterwards has kept me walking with the same strangers. Beautiful work TBM. Probably my favorite album cover also. Had the pleasure of meeting them on their last tour and I can say they are awesome people. Chibi hugged and talked to me and my wife like we had been friends with them forever. Fan for life here. I love the Birthday Massacre about two years. Yes, it is not so much, but throughout this time their music became something precious for me. Because I've got a lot of memories with The BM's songs, because I haven't heard something similar to them before, because music and lyrics are always atmospheric and deep...and this song is not the exclusion. I've been a fan since seeing them open for MSI in 2008. Absolutely love Chibi's haunting vocals and their unique sound. Can't wait for the new album to drop!

My only complaint: Why isn't there a 5-6 minute extended remix of Shiver?

Tava com receio da recuperação da Sara, tinha ouvido que ela tinha passado por cirurgia nas cordas vocais, fiquei preocupado mas cara, a voz dela ta a mesma voz perfeita e angelical de sempre, fico muito feliz. E o som deles continua transbordando a mesma essência que faz a banda ser tão boa e ser única. Essa banda é realmente tudo pra mim.
