  • In our first international trip for three years, we head somewhere we've wanted to go from the moment it opened: to pay our respects at the Church of Omnipollo. It is the brewery's first brewing site - a former Stockholm church they've stacked with fermenters, barrels, spice cannons and a great taproom. Join us as we take a tour, dig into the art that sets Omnipollo apart, and taste the remarkable range of beers they now make themselves.

    Great that also the art work of Omnipollo is presented. Off topic: I worked with Karl's father, a very gifted graphic designer, in the 1980:ies with a magazine covering medical technology. Great that design also is important for craft beer. Without Karl's graphic ideas I think Omnipollo hadn't reached its iconic identity so fast.

    @The Craft Beer Channel,
    Fantastic, in-depth look into one of the most enigmatic breweries in the world! I am simply envious beyond belief that you got to visit that incredible installation. Many additional thanks to Brad for being able to interview masterful artist, Chris!
    Unfortunately, everything they have released in The States has been done (mostly, if not all) via contract brewing. Even then, most of their hoppy offerings are 3-6+ months fresh when they hit (warm shelves)...and they are expensive!
    I did, however, grab a 4-pack (12oz) cans of Noa Pecan Mud Cake Stout (no date code). I found it tasted VERY artificial which often comes by using extracts/flavorings. I liked the first can, but finishing the 4-pack was an absolute chore. If Omnipollo continues to produce this beer at their own facility, I would enjoy sampling it again and figure out whether what I received was in fact a frenzy of extracts/flavorings that resulted from contracting it out. 🤔
    Cheers to many more episodes!
    Brent

    I'd always considered Evil Twin one of, if not the Grandfather of Pastry with Biscotti and Doughnut Break but certainly now believe Omnipollo deserves the mention. What a truly beautiful facility. Am really fortunate we get them shipped into NYC here and there. Cheers!

    Yellow Belly is probably my favorite stout from them. I fondly remember discovering Omnipollo at the Craft Beer Helsinki festival in 2018, me and my mate arrived quite early on the day when it hadn't been open for long. After tasting a few sessionable beers we noticed the Omnipollo stand which always had a line even though there wasn't much people on the festival yet. We went over there and were really surprised to discover that they served some imperial stout with soft ice as the "head". Ended up tasting most of their beers and several of them ran out pretty quickly after more people joined the festival. From that occasion I remember really loving their Fatamorgana imperial IPA.

    As Swede I've been following a lot of Omnipollos releases at the Systembolaget(Swedens monopoly store for alcohol over 3,5% ABV) and they do bring out some real bangers from time to time! for example I loved the DDH Fatamorgana as the original is still a beer I grab from time to time, really took me back.

    Nicely done. I think I'm in that camp of someone who has dismissed "Omnimollo" but watching well considered and well made videos like this helps to change a person's mind. I like Henok, I've heard him talk before and he seems a really articulate and intellectual guy. The art work and design has always been stellar and that's certainly on display in that new brewery they've made. Looks like I'll come back.

    My favourite Omnipollo Imperial Stout! That's a tough question as Omnipollo have made some great ones in the past. Lorelei Coconut Maple Toast is a cracking one. But, Noa Pecan Mud Cake gets the big slap on the back from me. Man at 11% it's big, it's thick and extremely decadent.

    Been a huge fan of Omnimollo since I first tasted Yellow Belly back in 2017. I’ve been drunkenly getting my Ms and Ps mixed up ever since. Pushed things to extremes and improved what beer can be for me. I now try anything I see irrespective of what’s in it. Couldn’t care less about the adjuncts. All I care about is if its bloody lush or not, and rarely do Omnipollo disappoint. For me (in this case), bigger is better.

    18 to 20 Plato finishing gravity? That's where my Doppelbock recipe starts! I'm really curious if consumers understand how many calories are in a beer like that. For a final gravity of 15.5% ABV, the starting gravity would have to be 42.5 Plato (1.1921) and there would be 668 calories per 12oz. For reference, the average stick of butter has about 800 calories in it.
