  • Here is a simple technique on how to make an antique art with oxidized effect. I have made it as simple as possible with clear steps. This technique with slight variations can be used to create variety of effects. In future, I will also show how this magnificent technique can be used on other surfaces. But for, now, I am using it on a plain, primed canvas, by creating a tree with the help of our friend, the glue gun. At the end, the painting looks more like a fossilized tree. I guess, this technique gives unique nature to different paintings/creations. I hope you guys enjoy the video. Please share your thoughts, in the comment section down below. Let me know what I should make next or, on what, I should use this technique. Don't forget to like, share and subscribe...
    Have a great day ahead! :) :)

I was going to simply write, this is beautiful. Until you asked at the end for us to share our thoughts and comments. So I will. This touched me in a way that’s hard to describe. Tonight I spent what I strongly feel will be my last Christmas Eve with my Mom and Dad. I’ve cared for them the past year and I’ve watched them grow old. And Gnarly. But this painting made me think of my Dad and his hands. How, one time they were young and picked me up and dusted me off. How they worked hard to provide for my Mom, my sister and I. How they started to age and still were strong. And now how they shake. How they are clean when once they only became clean after a week of vacation. He was a mechanic. But now he’s a shaky, thin man. He’s bent, but will always seem strong in my eyes and heart. I needed this I think tonight as I believe soon he’ll be moving on to a better place. It just hit me so very strongly tonight that I’ll have to learn to live without him for a while. And I’m grieving, although I can still at this moment touch his hands and hold him close. But thank you, for this beautiful painting. It looks strong, but we don’t know how long it will be with us. And it makes me grieve.

This is stunning. All my life I have battled with demons, depression and abuse. I was watching every stroke, every spot of paint and all I could think about were the amount of storms this tree (all trees for that matter) had faced, they’ve been battered and bruised by winds, rain and some are knocked down but as I look carefully and think about it, I’m like a tree. I’ve endured many storms in my lifetime but here I am, I’m wearing scars but like this tree, after everything, I’m still here, standing strong and more beautiful than ever. Thank You so much for sharing and for lifting me up today. 🙏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻

This was truly beautiful. Thank you. I remember my Mum doing this back in the 80's but instead of the glue she glued down different textures of string and fine rope to make the tree. Once dried she glued down aluminum foil over all of it, pressing it in to all the creases and nooks and crannies. Once that was dried she used boot polish to stain all the aluminum. It turned out so well. I was surprised at the results because my Mum was not really an artsie person. ♥

I've watched this several times now. The feelings it evokes in me-and obviously many others here-are powerful. I felt like *this is what art is supposed to do.* Art is *meant* to stir emotions and thought. The more powerful the feelings, the more powerful the art. I just want to thank you again for sharing this-and all your artwork-with us.
You inspired me to try this myself... using a crappy little glue gun and some watercolor paper. Even with inferior tools, I still made something that made me smile... and want to create more things.
    Thank you.

The first time I watched this .. I fell asleep .. NOT for any other reason than the music just totally relaxed me and away I went ! So .. a couple of days later when my Therapist came to do my Reflexology .. I played this again. I had the screen minimised so there wasn't a picture .. just the music. She asked me what it was .. so I showed her. We ended up watching the video all through ... and she LOVED this so much. So .. the day after what did I do? Yep .. I got all my craft stuff out .. ran out (well .. hobbled more than ran haha ) and bought any bits I didn't have .. and I made her one. She was absolutely over the moon. Thank you .. for the video .. the inspiration .. the music ... and for giving me reason to get off my backside and get back into crafting. I have MS .. and am in remission from Cancer at the moment .. so it felt absolutely wonderful to just forget everything for a while ... and create ! Thank You :)

This idea was challenging but I have a dear friend who is a certified genealogist and I thought this would make a perfect addition to her office wall. I did add very light touches of gold near the tips of a few branches to represent great success in finding relatives. Her business is called Twisted Twigs and Gnarled Branches! Thus it was a very appropriate gift. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills.

As I watched you create this hauntingly beautiful tree, tears streamed down my face. Although im not entirely sure why and im still sorting all the emotions I was feeling, but I wanted you to know that you inspired me and touch my soul in way that is a bit foreign but wonderful none the less. I aspire to touch someone with such emotion when they look at something I create. Thank you for renewing the fire to continue, as I had lost my inspiration, put down my paints and felt the loss of my creative outlet in all areas of my life. Thank you seems inadequate. So beautiful! When I see trees, I think and feel of strength. I come from a creative family, weather it be painting, music, and crafting, we all need to feel blessed, this tree to me represents it all! I may do something like this for my dads 80th birthday, he has everything he wants/ needs, I feel he’d appreciate this, especially done by me! He’s made me so many amazing things, this would mean more, with putting time in, and the whole idea it represents. I could write a poem for him and place it on the back! Thank you for sharing such a neat and beautiful idea! You are an incredible artist.

When it comes to RUclips, it always helps to remember that some people think downvoting a video is how they stop getting recommendations for videos like it. So there will always be a small percentage of downvotes on every video for that reason.
There's really no excuse for those people not knowing about the proper way to do it. But there's nothing wrong with just not being interested in painting.

there will always be haters out there Connie, it's not that they don't like it, it's that they are jealous that they have no talent, or a creative bone in their body, it's like when someone tells me my paintings our NICE, nice, I can smell the jealousy a mile away. See that's when I know I have done something worth envying, so I go with that.. hahahaha

I have four individual frames of the same size and have been looking for a design to paint that will connect them into one theme as they highlight the four seasons. This is going to work perfectly. The trunk will be split between the summer/fall frames as the antique silver moves into antique gold; and as the leaves move from deep emerald to rustic colors. Winter will feature bronze with sparkled white snow flurries around bare branches. Spring will be a brilliant silver-backed leaves with glints of water droplets and maybe some flower buds. Each picture may require a steampunk butterfly that moves through the pictures from worm/cocoon/wing stretch/flight away to warmer places. Thank you for posting.

Jeannie, I have terrible fibromyalgia too, with chronic fatigue and Lyme. Moringa capsules or powder in orange juice every morning and afternoon really help! As do Espom Salts baths, using a LOT of the salts: 1 or 2 lbs, not cups. Hot bath soak until the hot water runs out (or 20 - 30 minutes) and all the pain goes away. Along with watching inspiring videos like these.
I might actually finally be able to sit up long enough to give this incredible technique a try! Can't wait, really.
      Hope you feel better soon!

Thank You Catherine!!!! I am So Sorry You have so much to deal with. I do the Epsom Salt Soaks too & will try the capsules. I live in Spring, Texas & the weather has been wet & cold (for Texas!) & I’m hoping the longevity & more intense -pains 24/7 are due to that.
However, I think it’s likely just getting worse. Doctors only want to prescribe Lyrica & get me out the door. I’m refusing that, so far! I’ll try Your suggestions . What are You doing for the Fatigue? I have days (and DAYS!!!) that it’s an effort to tap-tap & even hold my cell.
I did do this & as always, I get so focused, I’m well aware I’m hurting, but I am more able to accept it.
I did a tree, but not like this ... AND way more gargoyled. Aaaand. I’m not CrAzY about it, but will definitely use this technique again 👍
Thank You so much for Sharing Your treatmentS for Your Fibromyalgia. I’m near my wits-end right this very moment.

I am going to try this when my arm is feeling better...pretty and unique! I am rediscovering my glue gun in fun ways like this. I bought a designer fashion necklace a while ago. The price on it was reduced because some of the faux gems were missing. I decided to place some drops of glue onto a sheet of paper. Once the glue dried, I used some scissors to cut the glue to match the shape of the missing gems. I then used nail polish as a paint to match the exact color I needed then placed the shapes inside the prongs and WHALA...thanks!

It really speaks to me as recently, I was on a quest to find out more about my family's history. I believe I have found out all I need to and am now looking forward. This truly speaks to me. Thank You.

It is simply beautiful. Blackbeard thank you so much for sharing this art because it not just looks beautiful but it has the depth to bring out people's emotions and we see that countless people relate to the painting & empathysing with each other about the events in their lives that the painting reminds them of. It has the ability to help people build each other even though they do not know each other. Blackbeard in your own way you have unconsciously built a community of people who are reaching out to each other & understanding each other's pain & loss..What a beautiful process this has turned into. This is what the world as a community need. Everywhere there is loneliness, fear, grief, loss..If only we had more such art to help people reach out to each other it will be wonderful. Continue the beautiful work Blackbeard & please do this on a larger scale. After all Art has always known to pull down barriers. God bless

I am trying this, but adding my own touch to it so it is my own, inspired by you. Thank you for adding the instruction's on the video. I have gone in many times to mimic the steps to some degree. I like this and it looks similar to one I did years ago with Elmer's Glue. My process took much longer to execute because Elmer's takes many layers to build up to the depth of the glue gun glue. Your paintings really turned out lovely, I like ALL of them. Makes me think of Heath cliff's place on the Moor.

What a wonderfully enlightening video. I've long admired a painting that a friend did of a beautiful tree in golds and dark blue. Now I know how I could perhaps achieve a similar, if less skilled result using your technique. I look forward to having a go at honouring them and thank you for giving me my New Year's inspiration.
