I have worked in a structure with aluminium foil. The aluminium foil makes folds that I use as structure and I use the luminosity of the foil for shimmering effects. You can see how I apply the aluminium foil with thicker acrylic binder. It was very easy. It took a while to dry. But I started painting when it was not completely dry yet.
Adhesion was more the "problem". The paint does not adhere well to aluminium foil. I therefore let the layers of paint dry well. Applying the paint is fun because it glides easily over the surface.

real blue, black, white, paris blue (dark blue), havana (dark golden ochre)
Tools, material you need:
Canvas, aluminium foil, acrylic binder or glue (wallpaper paste also works).
Spatula - to work out the structure
simple large bristle brush - to apply the paint

So lovely. Reminds me of forest scenes reflecting from pools and streams in the cool morning mist. Thank you for sharing the technique, esp. with the binder. A very versatile medium.

J'ai regardé ce tableau, tant de fois. C'est une merveille. Je me pose une question, Petra. Peux-être en parles-tu dans tes explications, mais je parle français, et mon anglais est très moyen.. Super inspirierend! Danke für die tolle Anleitung. Ich habe früher ganz viel mit meinem Papa gemalt und möchte für meine neue Wohnung ein paar Farbakzente kreieren. Hab vor drei Leinwände gelb anzumalen und viel mit verschiedenen Strukturen zu arbeiten. Wünsch mir Glück! :)
Super, das freut mich!! Wenn du mit Strukturen und Gelb arbeitest, achte darauf, dass dein Untergrund nach der Struktur weiß ist - nicht scheckig. Bis auf Kadmium ist Gelb meist nicht deckend. Also evtl. vor Beginn Farbe, einmal Weißen. 🍀 LG!!

LOVE your technique. I haven’t seen anyone paint on foil before. Your creation turned out wonderfully interesting. I liked the way you worked the piece until it became fabulous. (I thought it was perfect several times but you continued & made it even more interesting / beautiful.)

Ich hab dieses Video schon letztes Jahr gesehen und finde es immer noch genial. Ich hab mich schon immer gefragt, warum man das nicht öfter sieht, dass Aluminiumfolie für Kunst benutzt wird.

Hallo Petra, ja genau. Wo sonst wenn nicht in der Kunst. Frei sein, wo ist das noch möglich? Auch deshalb gaaanz wichtig. Ich mach auf meinem Kanal einfach nur das was ich liebe und das mach soviel Spaß. Ein ganz wichtiger Ausgleich zu sonst. Manchmal denke ich, ich bin Farben süchtig wenn es so etwas geben sollte.
