Grant is also famous to younger viewers for voicing the engineer from team fortress 2

might wanna look in the newest section
He's buildin a sentry.
Grant Goodeve is engineer tf2
Eight is Enough is a classic.. never missed an episode with the Bradford family... thanks for the memories.
You're most welcome TPR!
I never saw "Eight Is Enough" but he seems like a decent man which is rare in the entertainment industry.
Based on my investigations, I'd say that there are plenty of really good people in the industry. They may not think exactly the way that I do...but I still believe that they are good people. Now, with that said, there are an awful lot of rotten individuals working in showbiz as well.
I loved Eight is Enough. Coming from a family of 7, It rung so true for me. I had such a crush on Grant Goodeve and loved the theme song he sang. All the actors seemed to work well together. It was a great and talented cast.
Thanks for sharing cindee D!
We were 8 children. The song definitely true of our family.
Same coming from a family of 11 , and grant looked good back then
I was 17 when Eight is Enough aired. I had a crush on Grant. I love that show. Broke my heart when Dianah Hyland died from cancer. John Travolta's first real love. He was so broken then, but SNF & movies after helped him move on. It's so sad Adam Rich died from Fentynl overdose 😢
Wonderful video. My first time watching your channel. Very well narrated. You've got a new fan 😁👏
Thank you for your kind words!
God bless Grant Goodeve and his wife, for a 40 plus year marriage! That's what really matters. Good for you guys!
i used to watch 8 is enough in re-runs in boston on boston 25 and whll channel 27 in the 1980's. loved the bradford family
Thanks for sharing Rich!
You forgot a little gem. 'The Most Fattening Time of the Year'. He sang it with Richard Simmons. Indeed a Christmas classic.
Eight Is Enough, was in my top 3 TV shows, I had such a crush on Tommy (Willie Ames)!!! It's awesome that Grant is still doing great, some of the Cast went through very hard times.
Grrr...auto correct! I had to fix "4" words, it created it's entire own sentence...makes me so mad!!! 😤
This is my all time favorite TV Show. Grant was a great addition to the cast. I can’t imagine what the show would’ve been like without him. He’s both a great singer and actor. Thanks for sharing this video. 👍
Thanks for sharing Doug. I am a huge Mark Hamill fan...but I can't imagine anyone other than Grant in the role either.
Grant Goodeve was alaways the voice of reason and calm amongst the Bradford kids.
Bruh he litterally inspired me to get an engineering degree
Wow, talk about synchronicity... we just watched a movie online the other day called County Line from 2017. There was a sheriff in there that we thought we recognized the actor but couldn't place him. The credits rolled at the end, and it was Grant Goodeve!
I liked the occasional spots he had on Northern Exposure (a GREAT show) as well, back in the 1990s.
I talk about County Line at the end of the video. Did you like it? I thought it was pretty darn good.
@@jdsundstrom Yeah, we liked it. There were a few bits that were a bit "OK" but overall we all really liked it over here!
I'm at the part in your vide where you talk about Grant and his wife and the church they attend, so I should be to the part where you talk about CL in just a few moments! Thanks as always for the great videos you produce!
Prior to the mullet he may have been the most '70s looking guy that ever lived
For sure. Grant had that "70s look"!
Grant used to live in the town of Pennington,NJ i was told he was a neighbor of mine, but i never met him. Always heard he was such a nice guy
Thanks for sharing Steve!
Enjoyed "Eight Is Enough" immensely-Grant Goodeve was excellent as David Bradford.
I used to watch Eight is Enough. Those of us who remember that show will recall that Grant's character got married to an attorney, Janet, played by Joan Prather. Because Goodeve felt his character was not being utilized enough (too few storylines featuring him), he went to the producers and asked that David and Janet get divorced. The two remained friends, however, and in the first reunion show, you can tell Janet still loves David.
I loved that show- I used to go around singing the theme song all the time. What a great cast- Dick Van Patton was one of the best TV dads of all time.
I live in the Pacific Northwest and in the late 80's and 90's Northwest Backroads was a GREAT travel series. One of my all time favorite shows. VERY good and entertaining. A GREAT source to show people of the area all of the great places to go and things to see. I miss it terribly.
Thanks for sharing Dutchmiester1911! Sounds like a great show.
I see Northwest Backroads listed sometimes. Must be reruns. I'll watch it next time I see it.
It was a great show.
Fun Fact:
The Bradford family was based on The Braden Family from my hometown of Chevy Chase, MD. Tom Braden worked for the Washington Post and Nicholas Braden was a senior at my high school when I was a freshman-
Thanks for sharing!
Good grief! Does this man even age?? While I didn't watch the shows he starred in, of course I was familiar with his name and face thanks to Love Boat and Fantasy Island. I'm glad to know he's doing well.
I know, right? Both he and his wife still look great!
No! Dave never ages! 😃 👍
Right? He's like the late Dick Clark. Never ages! Still so handsome 😍
Yeah he ages, but he ages RIGHT!
@@sandydegener6436 Religious, so probably no drinking which is VERY hard on the body in the long run. You want to look good as you age? Don't touch the sauce!
Loved Eight is Enough, saw every episode. Was thrilled when a station showed reruns of it years ago and I could rewatch it for the first time since I was a kid. Love the theme song to it as well.
Grant also sang with comedian / DJ Bob Rivers both his Christmas albums and his Year in Review albums. His voice was very recognizable on the NAFTA Anthem.
I was little when it started airing here in Cleveland. Good vibes.
Thanks for sharing!
🙋🏾♂️ I remember this show
It was a good one!
Loved that show -- never missed it!
Me too!
Grant used to come into a restaurant where my daughter was a waitress. She said he was a really good guy!👍👏👏👏👏
That's great to hear! Thanks for sharing Connie.
Thanks, Dave. I used to watch Eight is Enough even though I did not come from a large family. In our family, there was my dad and mom and my brother, sister, and I. It was more of a medium size family; but, I know what it's like to live in a house that only had one bathroom.
It has been many years since I subscribed to cable TV; but, there were a few shows that I liked watching through the years and they were usually centered in the PNW. Gardening in America was hosted by Ed Hume and located in Kent, WA. Eventually, Ed did travel around to visit other gardeners in the PNW. Grant Goodeve's travel show was very interesting. I loved seeing the backroads of my state. Of course, I loved Twin Peaks. It was quirky, kind of like me. The filming locations included Snoqualmie, North Bend, and Fall City.
Thanks for sharing Donna G!
You and I share so many favorites from the old days, and this is one of them. Loved EIE, and I always thought Grant could have/should have made it bigger in show biz. I wonder, without making any judgments one or or the other, if Grant's faith kind of limited the roles he was considered for or comfortable with. That' s not a bash on Hollywood, but obviously lots of shows and movies feature swearing, adult content, etc. Whatever the case, I'm glad he's worked steadily and seems to have a great life. Would LOVE to see a EIE reunion show with the surviving cast members or at least a "looking back" thing like they did with MASH. Nice vid, Dave!
I wouldn't be surprised if there were some offers that Grant turned down. I doubt he regrets it though.
@@jdsundstrom you mentioned Grant was host of a Travel Show for about 16 years.... that is not a bad job. after all Robert Stack Hosted Unsolved Mysteries from 1987 to 2002 a very popular show and he was the perfect host of the show he had the ability to draw you into a story and subject you might normally not be interested in. also thanks to the show it helped many people find their loved ones who had been missing for years.. I'd say about the only difference between Robert Stack and Grant Goodeve is Robert Stack had more experiance in movies and another TV show The Untouchables. but the main point is Hosting a popular TV show is good for any actor.
I'm the same age as Willie Ames so I could definitely related to the show and loved it. Heck -- I didn't realize until now how handsome Grant Goodeve was, and still is!😍💯
Thanks for doing this! When this show ran, I was about the age of Nicholas, so I couldn't relate to much of the show's content, but I always thought it would have been cool to have David as older brother. I bought the complete DVD set a few years ago and it was worth every penny even though the last season wasn't that good.
Well said!
Hi Dave! I had the biggest crush on Grant Goodeve. Loved Eight is Enough. Thank you!! 😊
Grant was good in a local show in Seattle in the early 1990s.
Thanks for sharing Patrick.
Northwest backroads from the late 90's into the 2000's.
Great Video......Thank you......!! Grant Goodeve was/Is a handsome and talented guy. Loved him on Eight is Enough. So glad to see he is still working.....and happily married.
I definitely remember him from Eight is enough, but also the boyfriend of Maggie from Northern Exposure, he was killed off the show by a falling satellite from the sky
Darn satellites!
GREAT SHOW. I REMEMBER IT WELL. EQUALLY GREAT MAN !! GOD BLESS GRANT, HIS FAMILY AND HIS ENDEAVORS
Grant was so good and understated in Eight is Enough and his appearances in my favourite TV show ever, Northern Exposure were always special.
Loved this show
Me too Lisa. Thanks for all your support as a SUPER FAN of the channel!
I love that show and i also enjoyed Mark Hamel and also Diana hyland who left tge show after dying of brest cancer. That was tough. Yes i enjoyed Grant as David. I saw it all.
Thanks for sharing Sally. Diana's passing was tough for many members of the cast.
Diana Hyland was engaged to John Travolta before she died. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Another bit of trivia...Mark Hamill also played on General Hospital as Jessie Brewer's nephew.
I believe Betty Buckley was having great success in the mega-hit Broadway show “CATS”
You are correct Nancy.
I really love Grant Goodeve's warm and grounded presence in "Eight is Enough". He had a smile that spread so wonderfully across his face when he was amused by his family. I also like how he navigated the need for space from versus time with family. Grant is an excellent singer, and beyond his theme for the show, he performed a gorgeous folk song in season five, the episode about the Sacramento telethon. "Eight is Enough" is an amazing show. It is true that season five had some issues: flashbacks overused in its first episode (due to a studio strike, I heard), a different and dated instrumental soundtrack bridging scenes, and some rehash story lines. I heard that Grant Goodeve wanted more air time back in the family fold that season, so the separation from Janet was written into the script. I am glad to say he really brings a lot to season five, and there is humor and pathos in seeing him reconcile heartache and loss with the "Swingin' Singles" ethos of the time. I wish Grant all the best. He played the decent, solid older brother so well, and yes, he was always very handsome. He was one of the better actors on the show and I hope we continue to see him in new projects these days. He just seems such a decent guy, and strength of character and talent are all too often a rare combination.
Thanks for sharing!
Great video Dave! I’ve always wondered what happened to him. Glad to hear he has the 2 most important things in life. Faith and love. I wish him all the best. Loved Eight is Enough!
One of the good guys! They are few and far between in the entertainment industry!
I remember seeing him on the History Channel for awhile as a host. I loved Eight is Enough, a great family show at the time.
Thanks for sharing Barbara!
He just crossed my mind yesterday! Eight is Enough was a show I really enjoyed.
Thank you for the update on him! Like you, I've ALWAYS loved Eight Is Enough and wish that it still ran on reruns! It always astounded me how much he and Adam Rich resembled each other!
You're right. They really do look like they could be brothers. Not so much now....but back then. 🙂
@@jdsundstrom did you ever do an update on Family with Kristy McNicol? I've been binge-watching that on Tubi lately.

Don't forget that on Dynasty Grant's character Chris Deegan got to get Heather Locklear's character Sammy Jo on the witness stand in court where he came right out and asked her ". .why are you lying to this court...?!" Hahaha!
Another great Dynasty moment!
I'm glad you mentioned One Life to Live. He played a character named Woody. I remember me and mom being so surprised and happy when we first saw his familiar, handsome face pop up in Llanview, PA!
Another great show from my childhood. Thanks Dave for sharing this info!
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice to see that he's doing well !! And thanks for highlighting his successful marriage ❤ Plus his spirituality which I'm sure kept him grounded too...💋
You're most welcome. Thanks for commenting Joanna!
I didn't care for the show, Eight is Enough. But I liked the actors, and I watched a lot of other shows they frequented or cameoed in. Grant and Willie were two of them. Grant was very personable, which is what had me attracted to his work. And I do remember Solid Gold, as it was one of my favorite shows, and it ran for 8 years.
I remember "Solid Gold" as well. What I don't remember as well was "Solid Gold Hits", the TV show that Grant hosted.
@@jdsundstrom Oh yeah, the spin off. They tried to revamp the original show, but music was already geared to a different audience by then. All the grunge, goth, and underground is what was becoming popular.
Thanks for the upload and also the tug at the heartstrings
Any time!
Another excellent video. Thanks for the nostalgia.
You are most welcome!
How about doing a video on Roger Corman. You know Boxcar Bertha, which he produced (and Martin Scorsese directed), filmed some scenes in my hometown of Camden, Arkansas.
Thanks for the suggestion Pryce. A video about Roger would be a lot of fun to put together. 🙂
I remember watching Eight Is Enough. My favorite was Lani O’Grady, but Grant Goodeve showed that he was the more grounded and focused in the family. He had an interest in construction and engineering (maybe). And he was passionate about what he was doing. When I saw him in an episode of The Love Boat as a seriously buttoned up tight executive on a working cruise with his assistant, who he falls love with in the end was interesting.
If you have the chance to talk to a legendary actor or actress and their advice is to, “Be thankful,” it is wise to take that advice. It is because during that career journey, there will be highs and lows and as long as you are doing something that you love, nothing matters.
He need to join the quest for sandvich
I was 15 years old. When 8 is enough came on. I am 61 now. Wow 😳 time flies. It was also 8 in my family also. But it was no way as perfect as the TV show. I loved 8 is enough show.
I loved Eight Is Enough growing up. I agree with Ricardo Montalblan "be grateful to be working" Dave.🤗💕
So true!
Sniper keep saying "we've lost the bleeding medic"... they've really lost the bleedin engineer!!!
Great Video Dave. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
What a wonderful story! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Don't you think that Grant Goodeve and Tom Wopat could almost be twins?
These days, I think Tom looks a bit more gruff and grizzled.
I never really watched "Eight is Enough", because I had issues with my own family. (Of course that was pretty much all my fault, lol)...
But I'm always happy to see a person of Faith stand up and be honest to themselves. Sounds like a good guy.
Thanks again, Dave!
Thanks for sharing emkkahn.
I loved his role in Northern Exposure. He didn't have a happy ending on that show, but it was still hilarious.
Whenever i see his face i immediately recognize him from "Eight is Enough" tv show. I rarely see the show on re-runs anymore though.
I hadn't thought about it until now...but I wonder why that show isn't broadcast or streamed much anymore.
@@jdsundstrom There has to be a place for it amongst Cable channels that show classic tv shows. Its prob been over a decade since i saw it on any station.
Thanks for all these trips down memory lane.
My pleasure, IB. Thanks for watching!
I remember GRANT'S GETSAWAYS. A wonderful Pacific Northwest show highlighting outings outdoors in and off the road places. My family did a lot of staycations going exploring some of these dog-friendly places.
I was blessed to know Joan Braden, the "real mother", married to Tom Braden. I helped her in the 1980's with the real "Joanies" wedding. Good memories of times gone by !!!
Very detailed & comprehensive presentation.
Thanks John!
It would be great if Grant would sing the theme song to Eight as Enough live again.
I remember thinking that he looked
like a David.
Such a good show. Miss those days. TV was so good then. Way better than today
If Mark Hamill remained on the show, he may not have been able to do Empire Strikes Back!
Exactly!
Or even Star Wars.
@@johnlea5508 Mark was in the pilot right after finishing Star Wars in 1976.
Good stuff Dave 👏
Thanks Danny!
I heard he solves practical problems now.
Is the show streaming anywhere?
You can buy individual episodes through Amazon...but I don't believe the entire series is streaming anywhere at the moment.
That promo takes me back home. Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley were a lot of fun to watch, too. Better times.
Married for 40 years! Wow she was lucky to marry such a good looking guy ( when he was young lol)!
Wow remember watching Nortwest Backroads back in the day as King was my local Seattle affiliate
Thanks for sharing Calvin.
That was such a good wholesome show. They don’t make those anymore
I love Eight is Enough that was a great show
It really was a lot of fun!
I had such a crush on Grant and Willie. 😄
good day dave. i remember when grant sang the song 8 is enough to fill our hearts with love. i never missed a episode of eight is enough. you mentioned marry frann, was she in 8 is enough? and the guy who played the father, was he in dirty dancing? great video buddy.
Mary Frann replaced Betty Buckley as Abby in the reunion movies.
I always loved watching this show! I had a crush on the mom! I've never seen the movie County Line,I'll have to see if I can find it. I wonder if they still live in Atlanta? I'm living about one hour from there. I'm not sure what other shows were on at the same time as they were, because I always watched them!❤
Thanks for sharing!
Awesome stuff
Thanks Danny!
We really like eight is enough. I like Northern Exposure where Grant was on for about 10 episodes.
Thanks for sharing Mike & Kathy!
Loved "Eight is Enough". Had a crush on Elizabeth (Connie Needham)! And the show introduced us (me at least) to Ralph Macchio!
Thanks for sharing Dontuween!
This video was perfect timing Dave!
I was just watching reruns of “Northern Exposure”
And I saw Grant in a few episodes and was wondering what happened to him?
I'm glad you found my video on Grant!
Great video
Thanks!
You didn’t mention that Mark hamill was in a car accident which led to his release from the show ang goodeve getting the role of David.
Thanks Dave
I recently saw him in a Christmas movie.. Still fit as a fiddle😊
Eight is enough like family i loved
My tv 📺 family. Great memories. Amen 🙏 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇵🇷🇵🇷🙏.
Good news: his hair is still good even at 70 years-old.
Yep. I'm jealous!
When I lived in the Seattle, WA area in the late 1990's he was on a local show after the "evening" news. I couldn't figure out why he was wasting his time.
Mr. Dave, I swear u need to be doing voice overs! Your voice is so heart warming.
You're too kind!
He was host of If Wall Could Talk also.
Good info! Thanks for sharing Lynn.
