Thanks so much for this Ethan. I am an international student interested in studying in both states. I applied to PhD programs at CU Boulder and at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX and watching this really helped me know for sure which city I'd prefer. Lubbock is about 6 hours away from Dallas, but still got a lot of similarities to Dallas so thanks for the helpful comparisons.

I am a Denver, Colorado NATIVE, lived in Dallas Texas from Dec 2018 to July 2020. Why did I come back to Denver, was the lack of relocation of the VA. i LOVE THE MOUNTAINS ONLY, and living in Denver, and that's it. Dallas Texas is better for your overall health, humidity by facts, helps you breathe better, live better, and lacks lung killing high elevation. Dallas is BIGGER, its better with food, better with traffic, and cost of living is better. I HATE THE COLD/SNOW, I would want to move back to Dallas, I LOVE DALLAS MORE, just my overall opinion. Women in Texas are sexier than Colorado's women. Texas is better overall, and proven in population...plus if you a blue state lover, go to Colorado, if you a Red State lover, go to Texas! Colorado Mexican rood is better than Texas, hotter chili, and better tasting, but TEXAS BAR B QUE IS WAY BETTER, AND ITS NOT burgers and hotdogs, lol

I've been looking and saving money for a relocation. I have no children or ties where I'm at In farmville Iowa. I'll really look into Dallas. Welding school is cheaper too.

You forgot the property tax, which averages about 2% or more in Dallas metro area and about 0.8% in Denver metro area. For a $500,000 home in Dallas metro, the property tax would be $10,000 per year. Compared to that, on a $700,000 home in Denver, the property tax would be $4,000. This means, for home owners in Dallas, the property tax would be $6000 *more* than those in Denver, which more than makes up for lack state income tax in Texas.

Appreciate the comment! Yes, I left out property taxes due to the spread and eventual need to start going into the surrounding suburbs to show the difference.
That 1.2% difference in property taxes can be a huge factor for some! Thank you for mentioning this!
