Trifonas was one of the favorite artists I remember from the 1970's, when Israeli Mizrahi music (which I loved from day one when I encountered it as a teenager), was still countercultural and you had to go to the tahhanah merkazit (old Central Bus Station) in Tel Aviv to find the cassettes. One of his big hits then, which you heard blaring everywhere was called "Dam Dam Opa"
