This is very unlike most industrialized countries, I hope people living in the US realize this. In most countries, just walking in is enough to get treated. Anything else would be seen as medieval and inhumane and would spark a public outcry. It's actually more expensive to have privatized medicine and less effective. It'll be a long road to change this because from what I can tell even people who would personally benefit from having it this way, are still somehow against it

You complain that there are veterans and kids who don't get treatment who are Americans. Maybe instead of blaming illegals who have nothing to do with it as its clearly not their fault, maybe you should blame your crappy health care system for that and the insurance companies. Is it the illegals' fault that parents of premature babies have to make a choice between treating their 26 week gestation baby, or do we allow it to die. Parents have to decide,do we allow our child to die as all we have to pay for is the birth a few days in hospital and a funeral, or do we treat the baby and put ourselves into a lifetime of debt which my child will have to carry on paying for after our deaths. My daughter was born at 26 weeks, and I know for a fact when the dr said to me if you want us to try save her you need to sign this as she is technically a misscarrige therefore we need permission to treat her, or we can make her comfortable and allow her to die. Now, if we were in America, my daughter would not be here today as we wouldnt be able to afford to save her. One set of parents ended up with a $4 million bill, athother family the hospital offered the parents $45,843-a-month installment plan for baby's NICU stay !!. I know someone who like me had a 26 weeker and even after selling their home, both sets of grandparents selling their homes and several fundraisers etc, 22 years later they are still paying for the treatment to save¡ been ventilated, every chest infection was due to her chronic lung issues caused by been ventilated , she wear glasses due to damage caused by been ventilated,even her teeth issues were connected, so basically every drs appointment that child has can be connected to their prematurity so even more costs, and over the years those costs never ever stop. That boy will be paying of his own hospital bills from when he was born for the rest of his life all because the American health care system caused by been born premature is a pre existing condition, and you wonder why so many women in america don't want kids and want to abort when they have unplanned pregnancy and that when given the choice to treat or not if their baby is born premature w¡ithin the right gestation age will choose to allow that child to die !!. Oh we are so lucky to have the nhs as everything is pretty much free and what little we do have to pay is peanuts. Yet you have the audacity to blame illegals trying to make a better life for their family for the American health care problems when clearly your health care system is beyond f****d. Maybe instead of been rasists and blaming innocent people for things that have nothing to do with them, maybe you should be putting the blame on the real people who cause that problem. Also unless your family are descendents of and members of the very first Americans, who are Native Americans, so basically are you related to the original people who lived in America before people decided they were going to drive the native people out and take over, if not , you must remember that once your family many generations ago were in the exact same situation as the people your complaining about and quite frankly been racist and insulting towards them too. It doesn't matter who lives there or how they got to live there, people are people and you should show some compassion towards them, treat people how you want to you and your family to be treated !!
The party that hates immigrants are the ones who deny healthcare for kids and "veterans" - not that the USA has been in a just war since WWII. ALL humans deserve medical care.
Nobody is saying that veterans are worth less than immigrants. The fact that there are homeless veterans, not to mention veterans that are medically underserved, is a disgrace and a tragedy. But that is a failure of a society and government built on corporate capitalism. This would happen whether there were immigrants and refugees coming or not.
