    Would you still recommend doing the plug even when using the Jake’s D3 trans brake?

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  Год назад +1

      No. The Jakes D3 is a true dual feed through that whole, but it blocks the reverse passage with the plate You should not block the case with the D3.

      I show that in this video.

    It never gets old watching you build transmissions.

    Of all the 4L80E assembly videos I have watched this is the first one to mention that the sun gear tube lube hole needs to be lined up with the sun gear notch.

    I enjoy a quick transmission rebuild myself. Keeps them a little more in my brain since I don't build them very often. Really looking forward to the Mustang corrections. Can't believe that tune was that far off, sure hope it wasn't driven much but from the look of that fuel line, it's got some miles on it.

    Recommend stiffer springs in the direct when dual feeding.

    Dose the pressed in forward 97 up inner sleeve lip seal stay in when dual feeding..?Nobody really talks about replacing it or just removing it..Thanks

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  Год назад +1

      The forward seal can stay. It has a bleed hole so fill both sides anyways. That seal is just meant to slow the forward apply so it's not so harsh, but the full piston is applied all the time in all forward gears. I've left it out before in my th400, and using the aluminum piston, the seal isn't large enough to seal anyways.

    Any idea what might cause lock up drag when transmission is cold? So 4l80e with circle D triple disc, locked up solid when cold, when it hits about 100 degrees you can put if in gear but still drags, 130 and above works like it should.

    Where do you get the cup plugs to block the reverse feed? No parts stores around me had them and I had to order brass ones off Amazon. It was literally the only place I could find them

    • @BlaserBuilds

      Parking pawl cup plug, or 3/8 cup plug 0.375" OD. They some in some rebuild kits too.

    Do you gotta plug the case with that plug when doing a jakes d3 also ?

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  Год назад

      No. The D3 is dual fed through both holes in the case. The valve body fluid path is reworked, and has a custom plate to accomplish this.

    Appreciate the video im buying the extreme automatic 4l80 trans brake valve body any more tips? What do you think of the alto power packs?

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  Год назад +1

      I have a video on EA install too. I've used the power packs, but there is some concern with the thickness of the steels to get the extra clutches in. They are something like .060, whereas stock steels are .072ish or .080. I like to not go thinner than the stock forward steels which would be the .07x thickness. Aluminum piston machined can fit an extra clutch in direct with forward steels.

  • @TheMasterofsparks
    @TheMasterofsparks Год назад

    I watched another video on the 4L80E from a reputable transmission shop and he said if you remove the second ring and or the center seal in the direct drum it will stop the lockup from working. Is there any truth to this?

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  Год назад

      No, the dual feed won't effect the lockup. If the lockup O-ring on the input shaft is missing it won't lock up though.

      @@TheMasterofsparks Interesting just watched it. He might have been thinking of a different transmission. Removing the seal is required for dual feed, and in all trans brake instructions I've used. I've never had one that didn't have lock up from removing the seal.
