Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for the direct drum vs forward drum steels identification. I assembled my forward drum with the thicker direct drum steels and was wondering why I had no clearance. I'm doing my first auto build and your videos are super helpful.
    Thank you!

Between you and the book I think I will be able to tackle this! Appreciate the video! Also on the Teflon of rings if you put them in boiling hot water they will loosen up. Hurry up and get them on. When they cool they will contract almost back. Did it to a power steering gearbox.

Thanks for making this video. The big box hardware stores sell a good beefy snap ring plier that would make some of those heavier rings a little easier.

little trick on the forward drum, but the center spline in before you drop the clutch plates in, then you dont have to do the shakey shakey to get it to line up.

Transmission assembly lube blue. A plastic lip seal tool made from a plastic soda bottle cut in a 3 or 4 inch cycle; caution some metal can cut or tare the lip seal. working it and turning it with atf as a lube. < for the newbies. Aliening the frictions with a flat head screw driver will help assembly. Hose clamps work well for seating the Teflon seals. And a soda bottle, cut the plastic in 3 inch wrap the shaft put the seal around slide the plastic and ring to its location, cover the seal with the plastic add the hose clamps to seat the seals. Yes take your time; getting in a rush can cause issues .

to help with the bearing falling off I use clean trans assembly grease or general grease work too. Helps hold bearing in place and together

After having a couple kids you might want to use 3 fingers to apply lube.
That seal with the “ridges” on it might have slipped in a little easier.
On 2nd thought; You may not need any lube at all.

Next time do the duel feed mod on the direct drum by removing the inner seal in the drum and blocking the reverse feed hole in the case 😉

Question on the output carrier/“rear” assembly:
What did you do to get motion between your main shaft and your sun gear shaft? Quadruple-checked I did everything you did, everything moves freely *until* I put that sun gear shaft on; it seems like the new bushings are too thick to prevent the sun gear shaft from spinning on the main if I try to jiggle the reaction carrier into place. I can’t even slide the sun gear shaft on, I have to tap it down.
    Thank you!

Does it matter how you stack the steels? For example, Should all the dove tails line up as you stack them, or does it not matter?
