  • European Motorhome Tour days 14-17. The abandoned Željava Air Base was a surprise find as we arrived at Camping Plitvice. Andy takes a ride out alone to discover this wonderful piece of military history. Visiting the airbase is not without risk, there are still an extensive number of mines in the vicinity so under no circumstances should you stray from the road / runway, there is the possibility of inhaling gases inside and there is a risk of collapse so basically it's not wise to spend too much time inside! There are organised tours if you prefer to experience it that way.
    The next day we head south and meet up with Greg and Dawn who are full timers loving life travelling Europe. They had found a fantastic free parkup in the Olive Groves, the deal is you eat at the local restaurant Šarićevi dvori. A truly authentic Croatian culinary experience. One not to be missed if passing by Primošten on the Dalmatia Coast.
    Next we head to Seget, as with many popular Croatian campsites in September the campsite was full, we arrived at 10:30 without a booking but still managed to get a pitch as several Motorhomes were moving on. This was a nice site next to the sea and within walking distance to the medieval town of Trogir. On our bike ride we also spotted a couple of other good sites on the island across from Trogir which would be worth a try. The olive oil in the Trogir market is the best!! :)
    On our last day here we take a bus into Split for a bit of tourist sight seeing and to find a water cap replacement. There is a ticket office in the bus station where you can buy a return ticket.

    Andy you going in that tunnel was mad 😱 how dark was that 🤪 But loved watching this and the water tap cover...doh but you aren't the first or the last person to do it 🤣 The look on your face Michelle when you thought you had been conned on the olive oil...priceless 🤪😍

      The tunnel was mad and I only saw a fraction of it, would love to go back and see more with Michelle - probably should take a proper guide next time though! Yes, I spotted the look on my face🤣 Very jealous of your travels right now...its freezing back in the UK!! 🥶 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

      Sorry, we are working on them we promise! 😀 There's a lot more to come and we'll get them out as quick as we can (next weeks is a Motorhome review but then it full on with the Europe tour) Thanks for watching the back catalogue! 😍 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    We were debating whether Andy was actually on the roof or super imposed. Can’t believe we even questioned it. You 2 are so cute and just like us. We always miss each other if we aren’t doing something together. Gutted about water filler cap but it shows your attention to detail is amazing with your videos 😍 aww miss my swimming buddy 😢

      Ha ha... if there was going to be some video editing jiggery-pokery then i'd have been flying the plane with Michelle on the wing! 🤣 It was very strange without my wingwoman. Next year we need go somewhere for a swim and a play on the Sup/Kayak👍😀Cheers..Andy&Michelle

      Hi Sarah and Lee, glad you enjoyed this one😀 not sure which was more scary, the tunnels or telling Michelle I'd lost the Water cap!! 🤣 The later actually!!🤣 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    Hi guys, having a bit of a catch up! Great video! The plane was cool but those tunnels look amazing and we spent ages looking at the plan you put up. The food at that olive grove park up looked great, nice cycle ride around Trigor and a great day trip to Split, nice to break up the extremeness with some good old touristy stuff 😊 Glad you got your water cap sorted!

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it😊 I wish I'd had the map before going in, I had no idea it was so vast inside. Next time - Map and a big torch! Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    That was a great travelogue. That bit at the end with Michelle's concerned face over the olive oil, my other half would have done exactly the same 😅. PS Campsite booked for the winter trip. Looks awesome

      Glad you enjoyed it Andy😀 Ironically that olive oil is the best we've ever tasted! This cold weather is really getting us in the mood for ski season 😀 Nothing booked yet but pretty certain on March for the trip. Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    When we visited Dubrovnik years ago we took a trip on bicycles around rural areas to see the damage and restoration after the recent war, which we forget about sometimes, but the stories and ability to deal with adversity of the Croatian people is amazing. Can’t wait to go back and this time in Motorhome👍

      We had a ride out north of Dubrovnik (coming in a later video) its interesting to hear you too had some bike trips out👍 Yes Croatia has been through a lot and its good to see the country has that behind it now and is a happy place to visit. Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    Yes, very nice places. That food you had in that Olive grove stop over looked fantastic! BTW I have an idea for a new series for you.. Andy hires a trial bike and explores the countryside. I'm joking of course, but those tunnels, I saw the motorbikes go in and if Andy had a motorbike, I'm sure he'd have gone further. BTW II I'm not sure who reads / replies to comments, so didn't know who I was addressing :-)
    Excellent vlog, can't help but think that sort of exploring is better with a caravan and tow car. I'll duck before I get a whack haha..

    • @ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures
      @ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures  Год назад +1

      Thanks Graham - we both read the comments but I (Andy generally respond on the YT comments 😀 ) It did cross my mind if I could pedal fast enough to keep up with the motorbikes and follow them around but decided against after one of them told me to be careful of the big holes in there. Now I'm sure no one has ever towed a caravan through those tunnels so if you want a viral video you know what to do!! (might need to reshape your roof slightly to get through the entrance! 🤣) Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    Wow great video, loved the airport and tunnels - afraid I would’ve spent longer there but the biking looked good 😂
    Gorgeous architecture in that town, looks great isn’t it very expensive ? Quite a contrast to glencoe, minus 10 degrees overnight, minus 15 in Aberdeenshire ! Motorhome covered in ice- never seen it like this! So tickled to see Barney and His kilt ! Take care guys hope we bump into you next year Ian & Lyndz ❤ have a great Christmas too ho ho ho

      @ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures  Год назад

      Thanks Ian, I did wish I'd seen more of those tunnels. Being more prepared with the map and big torch would have helped but if I'd read up on it and the reports of gases / risk of collapse etc in there maybe not?! Its also used by migrants crossing into Europe. Quite a place!! Those 27c temperatures seem a long time ago now, and its only -3 here!! Yes definitely need to arrange a meet in 2023 👍 Happy Christmas...Andy &Michelle

    Hi Andy and Michelle,
    We are really enjoying your current Europe Tour on RUclips and it’s the sort of trip we’d be keen to try ourselves next year. Once the full series of videos has been released I was planning on watching them again to try and recreate the itinerary and route from them. But I wondered whether you already had this information available and if so whether it could be made available as a “trail”in wikiloc for example?
    Keep up the good work of producing these videos as we always find them very entertaining.
    Kevin & Shirin

      Hi Kevin & Shirin, its great to hear you are enjoying our channel 😊 We were already going to share a Google Map of the driving route but what a great idea to create a Wikiloc List grouping the trails, I'll do that thank you 😀 there are about another 10-12 videos still to come but it should all be done around the end of Feb 🤞 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    Really interesting Vlog, thanks especially the mig tunnels and the DC10 (presumably). When you consider how short a time period ago that would have been in use, and then what is going on now, a bit of an eye opener. Thanks, all the best for now Tony and Julie.

    • @ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures
      @ExtremeMotorhomingAdventures  Год назад +1

      Thanks Tony and Julie, yes it was really interesting to see and also with the added feeling of being a bit on edge with the land mines still around and not really sure if I should have been in the tunnels. Great experience 😀 Cheers...Andy&Michelle

    Actually that wasn't Mausoleum dome, that was Vestibule en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestibule,_Split - Mausolium is now actually a Cathedral :)
