    Interesting that the Pirelli-Metzler conglomerate has chosen Pirelli for Short circuit racing and Metzler for Road racing with the exception of the Metzler Track Day Slick. Yes, it's all one factory and body of expertise though a variety of uses and customers.

    What are your thoughts on sc1 front and rear for a Ducati V4s. 95 degrees fahrenheit? Also what temperature do you warm them to with tire warmers?

    • @SilkLotus
      @SilkLotus Год назад +1

      always warmers on SC compound :) warmers are usually around 160-170 degrees F

      That's usually on the manufacturer web sites along with the pressures...

    One question, why pirelli can't do it like other manufacturers like dunlop or bridgestone so that the tires don't tear open after 10-15 laps?
    I've been riding racetracks for 7 years and the Pirelli has enormous grip for the first 3-4 laps, but then it decreases extremely and 90% of hobby riders have the problem that the rear Pirrelis tear open.
    If I ride Dunlop I can ride 2-3 days with the rear tire depending on the compound, if I use the hard MS4 compound even longer and the tire looks like a baby's bottom perfect.
    I tried pirelli again and again, no matter if SC0 or SC1,with the right air pressure and also at the right temperatures, the right tire mixture.
    Always the same after 3 x 20min and the biggest joke was that I wasn't even faster with the SC0 than with the Dunlop Kr108 MS2 or Bridgestone V02 and biggest joke is also pirelli is more expensive then dunlop or bridgestone so for me is tire just good if have a lot of money or you are in a racing team then doesn't matter because you don't pay the tires.
    But for hobby rider have a lot other options too ride with good grip and above all with longevity tires.

      Your setup is not set up for the pirelli. The pirellis are very sensitive to too much psi or too little. You have to find that sweet spot. For me and others that have used michelin slicks, we reported the same. First trackday the tires are grippy, then 2nd trackday on the same michelin slicks feel like im on ice and tuck the front in corners. Pirelli sc1 for me is the only tire to be able to withstand our harsh tracks in the middle east. I have trashed a rear sc1 when the psi was off a few psi, in one session. Many years ago I used to run dunlop slicks, I would love to, but we cant get a hold of them here cheaply as pirellis.

    Why do Slicks cost more than Road/ Track based Tyres?

      exsoulagent maybe because there’s fewer sold so development costs need to be recouped.

      SC3 trackday slick is a good trackday tire. They last pretty long, or for me they did running intermediate pace.

    Pirelli is the preferred tyre? Really? How many riders in BSB do you think Would prefer Pirelli it they had a choice? Not many.

    • @Addy29plus5

      Yama Pimp like any other brand, everyone has their favs, I don’t like all Bridgestones so it’s all preference.

      Everybody on a Ducati seeing as how they're built for them? Everyone on a bike that was built specifically for WSBK? In any case I'm pretty sure that statement was about the SC0 being the preferred compound.

    • @yoorukhunt947
      @yoorukhunt947 4 года назад

      Yeah get that. And some in BSB will prefer Pirelli, some won’t. Bit it’s not about what’s preferred as they don’t have a choice. We do.

    • @Addy29plus5
      @Addy29plus5 4 года назад

      BTrain5489 you are right he was saying the SC0 was the preferred choice in BSB, softest compound so always will be 👍

    • @BTrain-is8ch
      @BTrain-is8ch 4 года назад +2

      @@yoorukhunt947 Even if BSB didn't have a single tire supplier the teams running bikes designed around Pirelli tires would likely still run Pirelli tires. Tires aren't just a bolt on and forget it modification and selection isn't just a matter of rider preference at the professional racing level.
      Example? The HRC WSBK team is struggling to get the new CBR to work on Pirellis because the bike was designed to run Bridgestone.

      Usually sc1 front sc0 rear on the supebikes - think the stocks use sc2/sc2
