  • Come along for an 8 day road trip through the heart of Alberta's most famous trout waters. Just a little over 1,000 miles on the road and almost 100 on the trail. The beauty of this province was incredible and the expansive nature of the wilderness was hard to believe. Of course there were plenty of ups and downs along the way, but it would be safe to say this was one of our best fishing trips ever. On top of some memorable Bull trout we found some of the biggest Westslope Cutthroat we've ever seen in our life. Hope you enjoy.

    Such an amazing video. Love the sights, the stories, and the catches! Everywhere seemed so magical, especially that loaded cutthroat river near the end. Maybe someday I can be cool like that too 😁 also as a side note, Westslope cutthroat are one of the rare instances where even in pure populations, they can occasionally have slight white tipped fins. Makes them hard to distinguish from a cutbow at times, but still amazing fish either way!

    Well shot, edited and narrated. Nicely done. I spent a number of days on your first river in mid Sept; it appears just a few weeks after you were there. Similar experience… lots of whitefish but the cutthroat were hard to find. It seems the persistent drought and low water conditions are keeping cutthroat much lower in the system, even into the big lake.
    But I’m curious, with so much great water in the Elk R system why did you bypass the Fernie area and carry on into Alberta? Did the classified water regulations contribute to that? The limited angler days can be a barrier for last minute DIY anglers. The costs add up too…

    What rod weight would you recommend for a bass/trout streamer rod? And sinking line or floating?

    • @FLYALLSZN
      @FLYALLSZN  7 месяцев назад

      It would just depend on what you have available! Use any rod you have. But if you’re super serious about it, grab a 7 or 8 with some floating line

  • @sethmartinez994

    These big trout are sick to watch but do you ever try to target smallies or even like northern pike on streamers. Throwing streamers for like, muskie, stripers, large mouth… anything that’ll eat something large, that would make a sick video. And there’s not a ton of videos on it

    you should try flt fishing the adirondacks, its actually a suprisingly huge park and i caught a 2 foot brown there, and if you go to the high peak lakes and streams you can catch some huge native brookies, out of going fishing in colorado, idaho, and even alaska the adirondacks is my favorite, because of how secret its waters are and how prestine the nature is, i would recomend making one there, native brookies in the fall are arguably one of the most beutiful things i have ever seen
