Eric Liddell set his example for other athletes or sportsmen to follow by putting his faith before his running for
Personal glory. Who would set such an example these days, in this world of rampant commercialization
And drug cheating? Not any, I think. The Olympics of Paris in 1924 represented an Olympics before they became
Too big and money ruined them. Eric Liddell was one of the most deserving winners of an athletics gold medal
And will always be remembered, even though there are almost certainly no people alive today who saw the
1924 Olympics. I hope he will always Rest In Peace with his Lord.

It's possible some are still alive, but only a very few people who were very young children back then. They'd be well into their 90s or even over 100 years old today.

I wish there were cricketers who could put God first before personal glory of 5 wicket hauls and/or scoring centuries. The game needs godly players to be good role models and ambassadors for Christ!

My kids love the Torch Lighters video about Eric Liddell that gives a concise yet informative explanation of his life and ministry to our Lord Jesus Christ.

What an inspiration this man was for us Christians who now run our leg of the race. No doubt he is cheering us on from the great cloud of witnesses in Heaven.

From the VERY little I know of Eric Liddell, it seems as though he was a good man.
In saying that, however, it must be said that, whilst missionaries do a lot of good work, non-religious charitable organisations do the same type of work every bit as well.
The only difference between them is that the people working for the non-religious organisations RIGHTLY respect the beliefs and cultures of the locals, whereas missionaries have the UNMITIGATED ARROGANCE to WRONGLY act as though they are better than those who are not Christian and that it is their place to convert them. Dear Julie, when 1 beggar finds a place to get free bread, he runs to the other beggars and also tells them about the free bread. We just want everyone to know about the free life giving bread that is sweet Jesus Christ. Jesus said " I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly".

That makes no sense at all ie he obviously lied in his letters surely he has now majorly offended god by doing so

P3m[54trfc Oh, don’t be silly! Eric did not want those who were so far away from him to worry. If you think God holds that against him, you have a lot to learn.

    • @barrynancoo3232

Dear Michael, Eric was a son of God and not under any condemnation because he placed his trust in Jesus, who paid the price for his sins. If I am sick and I say that I am well it is because my sickness does not define my well being. My spirit is what defines my well being, because I am an eternal being whose home is in God’s everlasting kingdom, through Christ Jesus. So be careful when you judge Eric's letters. Only God knows the heart and therefore can judge righteously.
