I'm glad to see starcraft 2 pros trying out this game. The skill level of matches and competition will level up significantly with RTS players from other games coming in. I don't think it will be like AoE2 where The Viper just dominated everyone. Western sc2 pros had to go up against Koreans which the AoE pros never had to face lol.
You can't target that many springals onto a single unit, you're wasting around 8 shots when they could be used to bring down another 2-3 units with the same volley.
Love all your content, but would like to get some more commentary on the immediate openings for each player opposed to discussing the map layout. Also some periodic comparisons of the villager count would be nice. Keep up the good work, thanks for the vids.
Trebuchets are just stupidly bad because: 1/ 500 woods and 250 gold is a steep cost for a unit that can only hit buildings (and not even doing a good job at that) 2/ Villagers repair building so fast that 1-2 trebuchets can barely do any damage. To see such an iconic building-destroyer like that is heartbreaking. I think Trebuchets should also inflict a unique debuff that reduce targeted building's repair speed by 50% (adjustable figure) at least.
I'm surprised red didnt try to take the top and bottom sites to split blue up But i guess there're other considerations like blue had mass knights which can assist on both points very quickly while his units are certainly gonna die taking those 2 top and bottom Would've split up the springalds half and half to top and bottom tho
Love the overlay, especially showing map & rank but my old man eyes could do with a little larger font... I am really trying to get familiar with the maps. Speaking of maps... I absolutely love the way you always talk about the map and the general strategy for it as well as the meta, I find this a lot more helpful than how to advance in the first 5 minutes... as that is pretty easy to do with a simple build order video. I understand most of what Drongo says, but now if I can just figure out what he means when he talks about "piss ahmah". I also love the way Aussies sneeze... we say "achoo" and he keeps saying "ahcha" all the time, hopefully his allergies clear up. Cognizant and Aware do not mean the same and I prefer your use of "cognizant" in most situations. A sniper focusing on his target or a predator, such as a tiger stalking its prey, might be in a heightened state of awareness, but it is more a lucid type of awareness than a cognitive type of awareness. Playing a strategic game such as chess or age of empires requires a more mental or cognitive type of awareness involving strategic knowledge, in other words: Cognizance. So next time someone tells you to use the word awareness instead, please just tell them to go back to their First Person Shooters and leave you to casting Real Time Strategy, because you are doing it perfectly :)
Nah. I'd say they're synonyms. There really isn't this distinction in normal usage. I don't mind if he uses cognizant, I don't notice any problems. But, there's no need to confuse him more with nitpicky distinctions that don't really matter haha :p

Nice counter to the mass springs but they WILL definitely get nerfed in the upcoming patch. What a misplay from Demuslim for not going to imperial to get bombards to counter the springs and army of serral, built 3 trebs to counter one keep for whatever reason, and even screwed himself for building a choke point gate on his own side. Good pressure on Serral for pushing the 3 sites considering how passive defensive his opponent was with giving away map control and countering the mass springs with a nice balance of army and springs in the mix.

He could keep putting wall on the south of his fortification and he could put springalds right next to site behind the wall. just needed a gate and 1 more wall horizontal next to stone.
He should have went for the Sacred Site in the north while he's attempting to take the one closest to his base. That way the Rus player has to defend both of them sites and split up his armies.
That's also what I thought. Create scouts and villagers, sent them to both north and south sacred sites. Villagers then create Palisades / stone wall just to delay Rus. If Chinese villagers can also create stone towers / keep on that spot. That will distracts Rus. But Chinese player already done mistake at the beginning. He know he against Rus, at least he can deny / steal hunts. And walled / take out the relics
@@theFirstAidKit He had no other choice on that scenario, he waited too long to go out and get map controll, the Rus player took everything out there relics and all the sacred sites. He had only one try and at least send a few villagers to the North and secure it with building stone walls around it to buy some time and thus remove the wonder victory for the moment.
Drongo, Amazing video as usual. I request though could you talk more on the openings of the players a bit more? I find these commentary videos better for learning than watching individual players some times.
Enjoyed the cast. Looking forward to more. As for the overlay, the map and player information is definitely a nice addition. May I suggest using a wider Field-of-View ? That's more of a personal preference though I suppose.
somehow I think AOE has managed to hit that balance where every strategy has its time. this is less meta and more 'play and counter play' It wouldn't surprise me if we saw a development to mass springald counters
with my competitive RTS experience i can ensure you that hitting that "balance" won't come with that short time + not much pro players/games/tournaments, the data need to turn for at least a year to secure an "approximative" race balance, it's a very long way.

I believe Marine Maurauder Medivac came in decently early. that said I get that it's still in the wildlands right now but I don't recall things shifting around this fast in SC2's early days I'll defer to your experience however. it would be cool to be able to also see resources per min (just maybe record that small section and edit it in below the totals you already show) makes it easier to understand who is ahead in econ

There is a hidden elo system for Quick game match making. Its hidden ingame, but you can check your ranking online. AoE4 leaderboards, give it a search
Cheecky indeed. But do you know what is the topclass of this style of cheekiness? As English get longbowmen and trebs and magonels if needed. Build stone walls and stone wall towers, keeps and outposts. You can turtle and slowpush like no other.
Yaeh if you can micro 20 springalds to hit 40 archers in 2 swings - I think thats Drongo's point, there's so much overkill unless you micro them well and usually they cant run, but don't need to if backed up by frontliners
@@xat0304 overkill or not springalds will keep the archers away from the meat of your army and archers are only effective if they can get within distance. If they can't get within distance then they are countered whether they die on the field or not

It is related with economy in-game. Two town centers allow you to create more villagers efficiently, thus boosting your economy better. Plus, town center can shelter your villager in case of raid or attack by enemy. Many things could benefit from that.
Even tho I don't like the art style of aoe4 it brind sc2, aoe2, aoe3 pros together and It's honestly amazing because I was watching all those names separately.
I love the rus, but I have been having way better luck with the Dehli lately.. I just feel like when I play this meta with the rus, I get way behind on poking my enemy. I have been walled into my base a few times..
I like adding the overlay, but I think it's a bit too chunky. You could make all that space in the background empty so that you can still see more of the match, if that makes sense? Have the text fine, but get rid of the border and background etc so we see more action and less distraction to the corner of our eyes. Great otherwise man, great vids
why don't rus player just kill the enemy scouts sheep. they seem to put alot of effort into micro and it seems like such a obvious thing to do get he could've got 3 sheep bounties at 6mins and denied 3 sheep from his opponent to later carry back to his own mill/tc
bombards are very easy to lose against those long range springalds though even though clocktower bombards got a ton of health. hed need to get to imp get the range upgrade and build like 3-5 bombards + some meat shield to make this work. dont think he had the time/money for that. he should have tried to force serral into defendng the other 2 sacred sites i think. or some risky genius move: build 30-40 flame lancers and try rush his base. they are enough to kill all 3/4 landmarks and serral would need a big army to defend that. but not sure if that would have worked

DeMuslim had the slower army. That wouldn't have worked with the army comp he chose.

Scorpions also tend to do splash damage springalds are 1 target per attack
