Avon's are great tyres ,had the trailriders on my ktm .I found them to work well in all conditions ,never gave any moments of concern .The key thing for me is how well the ware is consistent and they do not square off like most other tyres I've used .I use Avon spirit st on my niken and they work better than any other fitment I've tried and as a bonus have given me much greater milage .
What a coincidence! I'm a fan of your channel and I put a pair of these on my GSA 1k miles ago. Something you've not mentioned that I and others noticed, the Avon Trail Rider carcass is more compliant than the OEM Bridgestone A41s they replaced (and two other tyres I've had on the GSA). This means there is less bump oscillation information transmitted to the BMW ESA suspension, which stops the suspension from effectively overcompensating and under-damping in road mode and feeling `floaty` and is also more comfortable and composed in dynamic mode. For me, it gives solves the suspension complaints I have with this version of Dynamic ESA. Nice one chaps, keen to know what you think of these tyres longer term. Let me know if you've noticed the same benefit.
I use to run Avon Trail Rider on my GS. A really good confidence inspiring tyre with longevity to match. It would be a tough call between the Avon's and Dunlop Mutant 👍
Came across you guys just browsing as ya do, when the weathers crap, and low n behold was also looking for my next pair of tyres. My current 2015 GS came with almost new A41s on, which so far, to be honest have been ok. But I'm just about to Click On a pair of trailriders, so thanks guys for the heads up.
Everyones raving about Mich 6s but I never like to Follow the Crowd. So, we'll see. Be great to see your longer term thoughts.

Welcome to the channel buddy. Glad we could help with your choice. Same here as people rave about the mitchelins but they are not my favourite but the trail riders and mutants and road smarts are fantastic

I had 11k miles out of Bridgestone battlewing tyres on my tiger 800xca and really good in all weather. But I didn't do any off-roading

I had the roadteack 01 tyres on my bike from new and omg it was like riding on ice,so I swapped them for the roadsmart 4s and omg it’s transformed the bike 😊
strange, as I had the Metzeler Roadtec 01 on my Multistrada and a Fireblade and they were excellent, grippy in both the dry and wet. The only reason I have Micheline Road 5s on the Ducati now is they are lasting longer and giving comparable grip.
@@markperkins8548 maybe 🤔 the tyres didn’t suit the bike that’s why I didn’t get on with them. I’ve found with the roadsmart 4 I have to put a lot less input into the corners to do the same corner at the same speeds.

Tell that to the Bridgestone AX41 I have on the rear of my Himalayan - only 24bhp and that slipped 3x on me yesterday in the wet over 150 miles!

What was the outcome of the Mutants you had? I had Metzler 01s on my F800GT when I bought it and for the life of me I could not get used to them (no confidence in the wet). So, remembering I had Road Smart 6 on my previous bike (GS1250) and really liked them I put a set of them on... what a difference ... I love them and give confidence in them whatever the weather. The strange thing is people rave about the Metzlers ad they get excellent write-ups in the mags. Just one of those things.
Loved the Mutants they really are an exceptional tyre. Would I have them again? Absolutely…. Ride safe
You guys are scaring me with these gs bikes. That’s disgusting miles get over twenty five thousand kms on my Harley with Dunlops on them. Just got 2017 1200 gsa second bike see what happens with Bridgestones on them. 😮😎🏍💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦

Hiya! Love the Lone Rider panniers but they are a bit of a faf when trying to
load them… For that reason I have gone back to my Bumot. I’m on another Pyrenees tour in September so will probably put them back on for the tour. Ride safe

I watched your review on the Bumot panniers and top box, very impressed with your assessment and will likely purchase a set…also convincing my wife of the benefits of have a pair of soft/Lone Rider’s as well for off road riding 😂🤣. Mark, You mentioned you only got 4500 miles on your Roadsmart tires. Was that MIles or kilometers?
I've been running Avon Trailriders for years on my 2014 1200 GSW and they are fantastic tires...in all conditions.
Due to the 1200 gsw's having great torque when accelerating and very aggressive engine braking, I'v been getting 9000 kms on the rear tire but I get more than double that on the fronts.
I go through 2 rear tiresto one front.
I'm sure you'll be pleased. I'll always trade GREAT performance and grip for long mileage.

They were bought out by Dunlop/Goodyear I believe.
