The idea with putting the pickup flush with the pick-guard is to increase sustain by reducing the amount of magnetic force applied on the strings by said pickups. if you want to hear a difference you have to lower all three pickups down to the pick guard. Honestly makes the world of difference, especially if you’re using heavier pedals such as fuzz faces or distortion. Another way yo get an amazing fat tone out of a strat is to get a fuzz face and crank all the settings to max and than dial the volume knob on the strat back till you get a good clean tone with just a bit of breakup in the higher end
I can't wait to get a hold of that Strymon Compadre. I've been playing two different Strats for years then a friend loaned me a '94 Jaguar and I must admit I was a bit floored. The word I would use is "zing". It just had this zingy sustain with distortion. My strat(s) still have a better clean sound after I tweak it a bit so this Strymon Compadre should be a lot of fun. For someone who is constantly still learning ....the tips are very helpful. Thanks.
GUITAR VILLAGE< when rolling back the tone knobs which guitarist would do this by using both tone knobs on a strat? rolling them back half way or all the way down?
You mentioned the amp tip but you mustn't forget the contribution of speakers. Driving them over a certain level brings them to life just the same as an amp. There is a minimum cone excursion which will allow the guitar to come to life under your fingers. Sometimes playing through a less powerful speaker so it is driven harder at the same volume improves the sound at lower levels enormously. You just have to be careful to not overload it. Can't buck the Physics!
Excuse me, WHAT did you buy a Fucking Stratocaster for in the first place, its FAT SOUNDS?!?.😂🤣😂Forget all those stupid pedals, get that effing knockout Amplifier.
Boss GE 7 pedal. Plenty of options to dramatically change the sound, even get a reasonable humbucker sound.
Yes! Another great pedal :)

Actually the warmest Strat tone I’ve ever had, was a fsr fender mim with ceramic pickups.
How to beef up a strat....buy a Les Paul
Ah yes! Two guitars that feel totally different though!

No mods, just a lazy couple of hundred dollars + $$tube amp.
