    • @michaelwillis8966
      @michaelwillis8966 Год назад +4

      I'm sympathetic to your position, but here is the main point: they haven't been convicted of the crime, only accused, so suffering such a significant negative impact when there is no proven guilt can be interpreted as unjust and extras legal punishment. Its punishment without conviction, which is illegal and immoral.
      I'm not saying that ANY punishment, detainment or imprisonment before conviction is unjust, illegal or immoral, but each case needs to be observed and decided individually. Unless the person is violent, potentially violent, or a flight risk, they should be given the benefit of the doubt, and not risk loss of employment and housing just for being charged with a crime.
      If jailing this individual runs the risk of his losing employment and housing, it may be too extreme a punishment to imprison him before conviction.
      I'm sure the judge has a good reason to order his imprisonment order. I wouldn't second guess him after the fact. I'm just saying that the benefit of the doubt, and preserving individual dignity, has an equal place in our system alongside the seeking of justice.

      I’ve worked with offenders for years and it’s not carelessness that makes them dress poorly, it’s often the fact they’re right at the bottom of the barrel of life! I don’t want to hear how you’d find a way, bootstraps theory doesn’t work for most! Many get stuck with limited tools and a lack of knowledge to know they have options….

      So American legal system has weird names for things, preliminary exam comes after a probable cause conference. A prelim exam is when the probable cause is ACTUALLY read and argued, not in the uhh probable cause conference which is more of a formality.

    Judge clearly does not like the PD. His attitude toward her in other cases and in this one is atrocious.

    Well guess what? It’s your fault that you broke the law. That’s what’s called a you problem not a judge’s problem. He’s lucky he got two weeks.

    Every time I’ve been to jail I’ve had a good job working on drilling rigs but had to suck it up and go to jail, it’s called being held accountable for your dumb shit but buddy and his free housing from a pathetic job doesnt feel he needs to go to jail? That’s a new one.

    Don’t care much for Ms Marsha. I’ve seen her on other cases and don’t like how she practices law. IMO of course.
