I hope you enjoyed your stay. Just last night I was booking hotels for August and I chose the Novotel over the Nana Hotel. I used always start and end my Thailand holidays there, but after the pandemic, the service is worse, the breakfast is worse (have to get your ticket every day and less food), and I know a lot of the girls who hang around the parking lot. I once went there before the pandemic and the Vietnam War GIs were there for a reunion. Back then, the rooms had bugs all over the floor, but I enjoyed it more. I'll probably stay there again. And anyone who has never stayed there should for 3 or 4 nights. You'll remember it the rest of your life!
Thank you for watching my video. This hotel remodeled its rooms by April of this year. Maybe that's why the bugs are gone now. Also, the swimming pool is being remodeled right now.
Sehr guter und objektiver Bericht - habe da vor 30 Jahren auch mal gewohnt. Ideal für Singles und Nachtschwärmer, da sehr zentral zur NANA PLAZA gelegen....
Stay every time I'm in Bangkok rooms are a little run down pool is small and a little warm from the sun but the location is perfect I never need a taxi can walk everywhere and the price is about 60 Aussie dollars a night
I stayed there on my first visit in 2005. It felt like a trip back to the 60s. I never stayed there again, but I would recommend it to someone on a budget who wants the nightlife. I still go in there occasionally after a night in Nana Plaza as the toilets, located by the lifts, are an oasis of calm in a mental area.
It's excellent value for money at $32. I would give the breakfast a higher 'good' rating. It's a pity about the location though. I've only visited Nana Plaza once and have no desire to go back, it feels like being a deer surrounded by tigers. Older hotels that were top class 40/50 yrs ago are often the best value with bigger rooms, in-house restaurants and pubs, private gardens etc.
Thank you for watching my video. A deer that can survive even when surrounded by tigers is no longer an ordinary deer. Haha. Thank you for sharing your memories.
When they opened Hooters, occupying the space where Nana Hotel's restaurant used to be, my heart nearly broke. That restaurant was one of the things that made the Nana 'HQ'. Every morning was an event unto itself, with the menagerie of punters, their companions, and many old hands who called the Nana a home-away-from-home. It had character, the staff was very helpful and the food was good... Now, a big, soulless high-school cafeteria-style room completely isolates you, like a prison mess-hall. The old place was right on the entry level, and people would turn up to meet friends. Now, well it's just plain crap. Gotta let go of the past, I guess, but I'd like to see the good parts survive. The only improvement i can see are the in-room safes (no more standing at reception, waiting to get into your safety deposit box...) I first stayed there in 1996. Some of my friends, since the '70s. Sad to see the old girl succumb to the trends.. Sometimes I dream about waking up in those shabby old rooms, with the Bangkok Post under my door, and those HUGH, incredibly comfortable beds...and scurrying down to breakfast in that beautiful mess of a restaurant...

I've stayed at Nana hotel a couple of times in the past and found it to be ok. Will probably stay there again sometime in the future.

It was unfortunate that the swimming pool was under remodeling when I was filming.

@@schwartzenheimer1 Great memories when a hotel has a real character, gives visitors a feeling of belonging in that place not just sleeping there.
They had those same nana hotel cards 25 years ago.
Thank you for watching my video.
Even though the hotel is remodeled, there are some things that haven't changed.
IS GUEST FRIENDLY
