I love the idea that Kratos finally has a weapon made specifically for him, instead of being given a weapon that he didn't ask for. The Spartans most renowned weapons were their spears, so Kratos finally has a weapon that he (probably) is the most comfortable with

Also, he senses Brok's pain and unlike who he was before he tries to make up for it by bending his knee to a 'mere mortal' and requesting his blessing of the weapon - something he (a demigod) has no time for the concept of a 'blessing' bestowing greater power to.

A small detail I love here is when the mermaid draws his blood and it forms the Omega which was the symbol for war in Greece, she frowns disapprovingly and reshapes it simply into a spartan symbol, calling back instead to his younger days before becoming the war god. The music in the moment complements this shift as well.

I love how she rejects the first symbol representing the end (both which Kratos have brought to others and is about to himself), "war" (his status/experiences as a god of war; and ares, his enslaver), the source of all his misery and shame, and instead chooses the symbol which goes to his core identity as a spartan warrior before everything went to shit. Which is especially fitting as it takes a form of a spear. His first weapon, the quintessential weapon of every spartan warrior.

In ancient Sparta, Spartan warriors would slam their spear like Kratos did to Brok, whenever they were addressing a superior to get their attention. Kratos doing that for Brok really shows just how much he respects him, now only as one of the best blacksmiths in the world, but as a person and a friend.
That was a very nice little touch, although it could've been accidental. I'd like to believe it was on purpose though, just like when Kratos cut the apple Sindri threw at him in half.

A Spartan God of War getting a divine spear forged from Draupnir. Yeah, it'd be weird if it WASN'T broken. I bet Kratos prefers using it too, since it's the first weapon that's HIS. On top of that, imagine how oddly comforting it'd be to a warrior that he could keep his weapon on his person at all times without it getting in the way, and he can summon it INSTANTLY. The Axe comes close with the ability to call it to his hand, but it could still get separated from him, like in that fight with Thor. As long as nobody cuts off that finger with the ring, or somehow pulls it off, he's always ready for combat. Honestly, I rather wish that the last mural that Kratos finds that has him as a god of peace, showed him with the spear instead of the axe.

I love how they made Kratos so… healthy? No. He’s not healthy. But by fuck he’s TRYING. He is a traumatised person riddled with more guilt than anyone could imagine, and the first game (new ones that is) done a wonderful job of showing he’s better, his rage has lessened and he’s trying to do better but he’s not there he’s just not good at it. But he WORKS at it, he tries his fucking hardest, for his son, his wife, himself, the friends he made.
Kratos in the originals was the epitome of toxic masculinity, he was so enraged he could never accept any iota of blame for his own actions and externalised it all on those around him.
But now he’s healthy, he’s worked on himself to be better, and to all the guys out here, here’s the important bit okay?
Never be afraid to be vulnerable, don’t think mental health is a joke, therapy is a good idea for those who need the help, a strong man is a man who can admit his mistakes, who shows love not just to family but friends, who can grow and change and be the better you. Society tells us to keep it all in lads, fuck that, scream, shout cry, let it out, so it stays out. I’m not saying go break some drywalls Kyle, I’m saying go shout into a pillow, cry on a friends shoulder, and once it’s out, let it stay out. Get up and move past it so it can’t come back.
If the ghost of Sparta can do it why the fuck can’t you? You got this

I don’t know if I’m alone on this one. I noticed the cloth formed on the spear is almost exactly the same as the one in the previous game when Kratos got the blades of chaos. Another reference to his spartan heritage? It’s awesome either way!

As much I love the return of the chaos blades scene, this scene just blow it out of the park from accepting his past to forging a new future

Fun fact: Mimir mentions a nymph called Nimue who is good with swords. He's referring to the lady of the lake and excalibur.

@@lenny-gm8ik spear of destiny, lost forever. But this spear is special since Brok and Sindri made it with remembrance of Faye and Kratos marriage.
