Game Boy Advanced! yes! I sold my OG model once I got the SP =/ wish i didn't. My GF was excited to see the Fender Stratocaster! She's gone one with a beautiful metallic red finish. ROCK ON BRO! Fantastic overview! I love that you touch on other consoles as well.
Believe it or not, the glacier model in the video is the actual system I had as a kid! I recently found it in a storage bin at my parent's house with the case and multiple games! It was fun finding it! That's probably why I filmed only that color. I have a few other color variants, but I couldn't help but focus on that glacier color! Yeah, I have a few Strats. The one in the video is the 1954 anniversary Strat from 2014 in the desert sand color with a nitro finish. It's a slick guitar! I have another Strat from 1996 in Lake Placid blue. I showed my Telecaster in the video as well. I definitely have a problem with buying guitars.
I remember when I first got the GBA. I chose the Arctic Frost one. Yeah, the image did make me think it was backlit, but I knew better with Nintendo Power magazine and the free premier issue of the GameBoy Advance magazine. Despite the screen not being lit, I enjoyed the heck out of it, even if it meant playing outside in the sunlight a lot. Indoors, the living room had a spot with a good reading lamp where I would play it, and eventually I got a good lamp for my room too. I still find those graphics almost too good to be true for such a compact system and cartridge, being able to rival some early PS1 games and match or even out do the SNES. The form factor was probably my favorite part of it, as I was already an adult in my early 20s when it came out, and it just felt great.
I got the Glacier edition that is featured in the video. I really loved it too when I first got it! It's still one of my all time favorite consoles. GBA games are also some of my favorites!
I don't know why, but ususally (mainly with non-nintendo consoles) I prefer the older games. I love the color of the older consoles, especially the advance. It's so bright (in game not on screen) and it's like an amazing version of our world. I hate the fact that modern games work so hard to be as realistic as possible. The advance is the perfect console, and I love it for how wonderful it is
I also prefer the look of older games. I like the exaggerated colors and designs. The realistic look is getting a little tiresome. Luckily we have many indie games that have deviated from that and given us some great looking retro inspired games. I think they are filling in the gaps the larger studios are leaving behind.
I never had any GameBoy or any kind of handhelds growing up. I grew up with a NES and Nintendo 64. I played my friend's GBC once or twice. In 2007 I was 19 I bought a Pearl Blue GameBoy Advance SP(AGS-101) @ Target. They only pearl blue and pearl pink.
Hey man, I really love your videos and stories, the way you tell about them feels like I am somehow connected with your own experiences haha. Would you mind telling which music you used as a background for this video? Appreciate it, thanks.
Modding an og GBA is on my to do list. I have a fushia red GBA that's in ok condition, but i want to order a new shell and screen for it. I had a GBA SP(ags-101) growing up. My parents bought 3 of them for my self and my brother's. I've started collecting recently and I got a GBA, GBA SP (ags-001), and a few extra stuff for $130 on marketplace. And wow playing on a GBA is so comfortable, if I ever play GameBoy games on my GameCube I use the GBA as the controller. Can't wait until I get some extra cash to mod my GBA and give it a front lit screen
That's awesome! I love my GBA's and GBA SPs. I prefer the 101 because it has a way better screen. I ended modding one of my original GBA's with a 101 screen. It looks and feels incredible. The DS Lite has a similar screen if you're looking to play only GBA games.
@@CristianSanchezz22 Ha! Yeah, I could have expounded more. I had a beat up GBA SP 101 that I took the screen out of and used it in one of my OG GBA's. It was a really easy mod to do.
Sorry I am an old gamer and your quote: " gaming gets better and better" is not true. I am experiencing the opposite. Gaming is getting worse. Not on the graphics side, but hey great graphics don't make a great game. But game these days always release unfinished, there is always a day one patch. I hate dlc just put that in the original release and stop asking us for more money! Games are way to long nowadays! And so on and so on. But.... I loved your video😊
I see your point and I agree with you. I have issues with everything you mentioned as well. It seems like these companies don't care enough to give us anything worth out time and money when it first comes out. I usually don't buy games until there's a sale or something, so I haven't had to deal with this as much. Though I have gone through it a few times with a few Zelda games. DLC is also something I dislike. I don't want to pay for extra game. I would love for it to be included or made into another full game. I'd rather my money go to something like that. Games are really long and I don't have anything to counter that point. They are way too long. I have avoided certain games because of their length. Though I still think gaming is getting better as time goes on. Not just modern gaming, but retro gaming as. Emulation has come a long way. So much so that I've sunk into it more over the years because of how expensive old games have become. FPGA consoles have also reignited my interest in older games. I just finished Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission on the Analogue Pocket. I wouldn't have played them otherwise and they played great on it. Thank you for watching and leaving this comment. It's good to get these perspectives. It seems like the majority of players just go with the flow without thinking about what they are actually doing. I'm glad there are people out there like you who see it in a different way.
You didn’t need it, but you got it anyway. The GBA means quite a bit to me. I wanted to share that when I made this video. After all, I didn’t need to make this video either.
Dude, all your videos are like a cinematic experience. Keep it up
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me that you are watching them!

i found you on my yt recommendation and now watching almost all your vids. your so underrated
I'm so glad you found my channel! Thank you for watching my videos! Which one is your favorite so far? Maybe I'll make a follow up to it.

Your videos are so soothing and beautiful and nostalgic. Great work! 👏
I'm so happy to hear that you like them. They take a while to put together, so reading comments like this is very nice.

@@NeanderMeander o yea
As a kid I didn't know that screens could be backlit so my first gameboy was the Color and I got it in 1999. It was awesome.
The Game Boy Color is still awesome! I sometimes like to play my games on one. No mods or anything.
"Little did I know I was in for a miracle. My father had to get surgery in the summer which meant I had to spend a day in the hospital--" Well okay xD
Nintendo works in mysterious ways
My second handheld gaming console. First was a brick game which only played Tetris.
Awesome!
Those gba's where great, i own two a purple and a black one.
when i was younger, i inherited my dads old original game boy. always playing blue version. eventually moving to a purple gba
Nice! That purple gba is really good looking

I'm so glad you like the videos. I'm going to be honest with you, I can't remember what song I used. I'll look back in my files to see who it is.
Wario land 4 is cool but it's hassle to replace the Save Battery
I haven't tried replacing mine yet. I'm not looking forward to it.
"I turned on the screen for the first time....is it on? I can't tell because I'M NOT ON THE SURFACE OF THE BLOODY SUN!"
I was in college when the GBA launched. I was very poor but still bought one on launch day
That's awesome! Which color did get?
I’m choose to get a GBA for this Christmas and it will interesting to see if I like it or not
I hope you like it. Which one are you planning on getting?

Right!? Somebody is looking out for me.
WarioLand 4 is amazing to this day still
It's so good! Top 5 GBA game for sure
they claimed they couldn't backlight the screen due to battery consumption
I remember hearing something like that in the past. It's funny that they ended up putting a backlight in the SP years later.
Hi! How do you hace the backlight in the led? Thanks! 8:09
I put a new screen in it.
