Don't forget to subscribe to this channel...I've got a whole bunch of classic cars lined up for road test videos! Авто/Мото
It ain't no trailer queen. It's old, creaky-and absolutely gorgeous.
So happy you appreciate that about this car... I really do!
I realize this video is several years old. But so happy to find it. I have a 1967 Goodwood green stingray I’d like to daily drive. I was wondering if it was possible. Guess now I know.
Absolutely! Enjoy that thing.
Jason, You have a totally cool way of appraising this vehicle and offer all the respect it deserves without overplaying it - you must see to it you do more like this! 👌
I appreciate that!
All I can do is smile. Perfect sound, beautiful exterior, and kudos to the owner for loving this car for so long.

Forget an e-type jag. This is where the magic is at.
I know the feeling. I owned a 65 coupe as well. I love it. Thanks again for posting this video.
wailen65 You Betcha! Thanks for watching!

65's are It
Jason, I found myself smiling through your entire video. It's good to see someone today who appreciates this fine automobile. We are only caretakers of these classics. Take care of her. You rock my friend....
Thanks so much! Awesome people like you are the whole reason I take the time to do these videos....Seriously...Thanks!
Have a great one and thanks for watching and taking a moment to say hey!!!
Agree 100% with the driver comments !!
PERFECT with full time original sound !!! BEST way for a car video !!!
Beautiful sound. Beautiful car. I smiled the whole time watching this video. Honestly how could you not.
👍🏼👌🏼ruclips.net/video/kqx6cK5beD4/видео.html
This is awesome, i have so much respect for this owner. I'm planning to do the same with my old Sable wagon because i grew up with it, maintained it with my dad, and it was my first car, but MAN pretty much nothing beats this guy with his beautiful classic corvette. No marks from other people's doors either! the world needs more stories like this.
I'd like to get a modern day muscle car and do the same. thank god this guy did the one thing the engineers built the car to do - drive
Cool episode, I like your videos a lot.
I couldn't agree more with your statement of "you gotta appreciate cars for what they are". That is so true.
Austen
Another great video... Keep up the good work, Jason.
Really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks for this video. I love hearing about people logging serious miles with these rolling American works of art.
👍🏼👌🏼ruclips.net/video/kqx6cK5beD4/видео.html
That is awesome. Love to see these cars driven, they were made to be driven after all
I agree... have you checked this video out? ruclips.net/video/jQtg2Qfkw0o/видео.html
New corvettes run circles around it but it defined the sports car of its time
No stupid music yayyyy just sweet 327 pops still has his 340 327 65 ... and 425 396 ..... 66 both convertibles and driven regularly... .. love this video
Trailer queen crowds probably won't unpucker a month after this video..... awesome video . And other car posting sites take note ..... no music to ruin video.... thanks 😊
Thanks for checking it out. Here's a recent road trip in the Vette up the California coast ruclips.net/video/jQtg2Qfkw0o/видео.html
66 with a 396?
Most had 427's or 327's
@@johnthonig1692 425 396 special order
Jason, you are absolutely right -- this car is truly awesome. I love the mid-year corvettes, especially the coupe versions. I am still spell bound every time I see one and I've been around some sixty years now. I don't think any other car can cause the same visceral reaction in me... go figure. Anyway, thanks for sharing this cool old car with us.
Awesome video. Great car. The owner got to enjoy this car and still is. The C2 Corvettes are lots of fun to drive. Highly recommend if you get the chance do it.
I can not like this video, car, the story behind it, and the owner enough! Like this guy mentioned, it's not always about performance, Sting Rays will always be an awesome classic.
Awesome car and test thanks
Awesome car, keep it going
@bigkahuna1950 Heck yeah! That body is one of the best of all time. Great to hear other people moved by this stuff like I am. I have a couple of cool cars lined up for the next road tests, all old stuff! ('32 Ford Hi-Boy is next) Just gotta make some time. Thanks so much for checking out the videos here and sharing!
How about an update... Is the car still on the road racking up miles?
If I could meet the owner of this car, I'd shake his hand. That's EXACTLY what this car was built for! To be DRIVEN. Not to be some garage queen. Too many jocks out their try to treat Corvettes like a freaking Ferrari! IT'S A CHEVY FOR GOD SAKES! Drive the shit out if it! And don't worry if something breaks! Because it can be fixed! Just sit back, relax. And enjoy the drive. That's what I do with my C5. She's now got 189,455 miles on the clock. And she's still running STRONG! Heeded for 200K!
Forgot to mention that it has the "comfort & convenience" option,
i.e., day/night mirror and backup lights. I'd love to know if it has the
tank sticker still stuck on there!?!? Very nice car.
Amazing! I would love to do this with my 78
Jason Lewis should be on American Top Gear, hes intelligent when it comes to cars and hes likable. No one else on that show is....
corvettes rule
@Locoboy5150 Wow, that is a good share...I love that about classic cars and car owners.
Congrats and I hope you have many more years of smiles!
Thanks for watching.
Love the original hub caps, too!!!
My favorite generation of Corvette, by far. I'd rather have a C2 than anything else. And not some bastardised "LS swapped resto wreck", but a real, hard core, Mark IV big block powered stick shift beast. I love the primitive "wear it like a suit of clothes" C2.
A 62 fuelie, or a 69 L-88 wouldn't be bad.
It is a wonderful car.
Radial tires look great. Worn bushings can wear out tires faster!! It's been in a dry climate, a big plus!!
Jason, I think you should let me have a ride in one of these cars you get to drive next time I'm in California. That would make my day.
amazing thing here
I got a nice old 96 Bronco in College. I hope to have that thing till I retire.
Very nice. I believe the 327-300 with the 4 speed was the best driving car of the Corvettes.
It's been 'lowered by time' as my dad used to say, needs a suspension refresh, and a tune. Compression sounds weak, but not bad horrible. Wonder if the valve were refinished for unleaded.(?)
I'm not sure about the valves, it seems happy running unleaded.
I just bought a 65 327 350hp 4 spd. And it's funnier to drive than my 2016 z51 7spd
They are amazing cars!
Good luck on another 500k. Don't Restore it !! Its only What it is.A GREAT CAR.
Could you please provide an update on this car? I know others have asked and it’d be great to hear about its current status.
Certainly, how about a road trip video ruclips.net/video/jQtg2Qfkw0o/видео.html
@muzician21 I am not knocking the car for the lack of power...it is what it is...one of the most fun cars I've ever driven and one of the most beautiful body designs of all time.
Jason, you mind if I ask what cameras you're using in these Sights and Sounds videos? I'm guessing there's at least one GoPro HD in there somewhere.
Bring it to new england for a year, it will turn to a pile of rust.. i hate buying a newer car every 5-10 years.. nice vid
@Shorty111R Yup, one GoPro HD and a Sony FX1. Pretty simple stuff.
Probably hit a million miles today
oil used???
Excellent video of a superb car with a great story. I'd really appreciate it is someone here can tell me how this '65 'Vette would compare to a '65 Porsche 911 as far as handling goes. I am a fan of both cars and would like to know. Thanks very much.
The perfect car.
@autoedit Well actually, I'm in Louisiana now. Was raised in Oregon, but moved to Louisiana for work :/
Thanks for taking the time to check one of my videos man, it means a lot! If I'm in your neck of the woods with a mountain bike, I'd like to check out some local trails.
WOWZERS
Thanks! Did you come over here to watch after the battery install?
@@AutoEdits yes, never miss a video, don't always comment.
AS IT SHOULD BE! DRIVEN!!!! YA MAN!
For once a sports car that was actually driven most of its life and not kept in a "bubble" aka slow car death to be "preserved"...this brought a smile to my face.
grease will actually work well the bottom of the bed of my truck is rusty everywhere except where grease is slung by the u joint
How many times have you fixed the driver's door hidge? I have a c5 and the dash/fenders looks close to a c2.
I haven't needed to yet.
@@AutoEdits No kidding? He must have opened that door thousands of times and it didn't wear out? I have had to repair several older cars because of wear on the drivers door hinge.
My c5 has the two large round gages on the cluster like the c-2 and the two dash humps like the c-2. That is a close as you are going to ever get to the c-2 dash. When I was a kid my older brother had a 66 and I still remember driving it.
I also know a guy who has been driving a c-2 as a daily driver for decades. Three engines later it's still taking him to work. Thanks for the video.
1st year for disc brakes, a BIG plus.
I didn't know that... good share and I agree.
Why would the motor ever need to have "been gone through" with only 450k on it?
@pkeddie88 Howdy Phil, that's Templin Hwy just North of Los Angeles. It's been my go to road for this type of thing for a while now.
Later,
Jason
The difference beween an american car reporter and a brittish one.
The American one says appreciate the car as it is and enjoy the good things...
The British starts nagging and mocking about small downsizes of the car
My compliments to the car owner, good work! and compliments to Corvette they made a strong frame underneith that sexy bodywork to hold up that long and still going
My volkwagen Golf started to drive like a wet noodle after 370 000 km wich is also alot of km's ofcourse
See if you can find a 69 Plymouth Road Runner with a 383 in it in stock condition to do a review on. I had one of those.
Rust bucket
What an awesome Vette, do you still own it?
I do own this Vette now.
AutoEdits consider selling?
Charles Isaac It’s been in the family since new so not really for sale.
AutoEdits completely understand, it’s a fantastic car with great history. A family heirloom. Thanks for sharing.
2:07 to 2:20. Hell of an angle.
i like stingrays :)
my ford ranger has 323 500 km
Wow, 500,000 miles on any car is an achievment. Screw these 200,000 mile Toyota Carolla types. This is way cooler
Love your video. And I get it. Just drive em. Don't let them sit. I hear shit everyday about driven my vette. On construction sites. 1999 daily driver
@Shorty111R Ok, and if I get up your way...electric motorcycle or a good mountain bike ride will do just fine.
Zach Galafianakis...too funny!
So much more soul than a modern Corvette. It bores me to tears hearing kids on RUclips crap on about how a C6 is as fast as a Ferrari for x price. That's not what motoring is about.
Might be a bear with the bigger tires and manual steering.
Have you checked out this trip in the Vette ruclips.net/video/jQtg2Qfkw0o/видео.html
Yes I did, cool beans.
it is...
It's amazing that the body is not cracked to hell. My 1965 convertible 327 350 hp was restored back in the late 70s. It now has stress cracks and all the usual spots. It's to the point where it stays in the garage. It needs to be completely redone. The only thing is that will erase the paint job that I did with a friend. Which I'll never failed to do again because of a spinal cord injury, many years ago. Oh well, you can't cry over spilt milk. You can check it out at musclecargarage-c-o-m
What about the 3 million mile Volvo p1800
this car was from an era when american cars were actually good.... by the late 60's and into the 70's the american car deteriorated into the rep its given today
Can you believe most people today would prefer owning a Honda Civic or Toyota Camry. LOL. And they say American cars don't last.
matrox well they don't prefer it's what they can afford. if you need a car for everyday use,u need good mileage, reliability, and not worried about being stolen.these old cars are only for people who can afford a toy to have for fun
The old song:: Hot dogs baseball apple pie and Chevrolet. U. S. A. *****======
yea grease the frame so salt can stick better.
The cars older than the narrator lol -- but hey your video compliments the U.S.A******==
It runs so good because its a Chevy.
If you love the classic Corvettes check this out : facebook.com/AwesomeCorvettes
You are a REAL, ENTHUSIAST.. AND ITS QUITE REFRESHING.. i put a post on ut last maverick video.. Check it out and get back at me.. (If you chose to and have the time man) much respect thrown your way from this side anyhow... Btw.. Its Brock g.t.m.y.!!
It's not broken don't fix it!
Exactly!
You won't see a Ferrari with that many miles on it. No they are doomed to spend their lives surrounded by stuck up rich people trying to impress each other while this machine has been doing exactly what it's made to do for far longer than anyone would expect it to.
Please just change the bushings. For safety and handling reasons. It just doesn't make sense to keep those old ones that you clearly know are worn on that beautiful car. The deserves it.
he's enthused that's why the video is good ,,,well most of it is the car...
This Vette has the incorrect grill.
great shape....the best? possibly? but those rubber bushes would'nt pass an MOT test in the uk
change the fuckin things it must make a hell of a difference!
@215alessio Yeah, but there's no denying that British car reviews are much funnier, even when they're not being done by Mr Clarkson.
Chevrolet Engineering**********
Timless looks, and really rudimentary mechanicals . my older brother had a 64, I had a 72 and a 94, always loved the interior and looks of this model. Unfortunately or fortunately I live now off of a dirt road in stunning Sedona, so no more sports cars....
fiberglass duh!! grease the frame and you are done!
still hasn't gone one trillion millimeters.
lollerskates...it had goodyear integretys on it! awful tires!
@muzician21 Not much power.... in a car that has done 500000 miles
Nothing
NICE, BUT THIS WON'T HAPPEN WITH A NORTHERN CAR -- LOVE THE BLACK WALLS W/RADIALS AND IT'S A STRIPPER -- NOT MANY OPTIONS -- LOVE THAT!!
suh good story really is
I have a 64 love it these c2 are the best. Beats the c3 any day
you should be in top gear us and replace rutledge youd be so much better than him
Because they require a reuild every 15k miles? O.o
"there is no reason for why it drives so nice." - Because it has a soul dood. Duh.
How about an update... Is the car still on the road racking up miles?
